NOTICE - Frackin' Universe - If you uninstall the mod...
There is currently an issue where, if you are playing the game with Frackin' Universe, and your ship is BYOS, then your SAIL tech station will have glitched graphics if you uninstall NEKI. This can be fixed if you recreate your ship's SAIL terminal in a Ship Component Racializer.




Chay finally managed to safely digitize herself into a SAIL-compatible heads-up-display AI assistant she has cheekily dubbed the Non-Essential Kitty Interface. Now she can draw on the vast knowledge of the world of computers, and help any spacefarer immerse themselves in complex new fields!

Getting herself out was another story. Frustratingly, she could not remove herself from your HUD, and despite spending the late night trying to resolve the issue, you had to go to bed before being able to free her. Your graduation from the Protectorate is simply too important to skip any shuteye for.







N.E.K.I is a SAIL overhaul mod that replaces your ship's SAIL with a digital Neki named Chay, who is weirdly smart and collected for her kind. She's here to help you somehow tackle the heap of different science and engineering fields being a lone space explorer requires. (in other words, a canon explanation as to how you can somehow manage to know how to do absolutely everything)

This mod replaces every race's SAIL, including modded ones. It does not require any other mods to work.

This mod does omit some tutorial dialogue in favor of just characterized dialogue, so I recommend knowing the basics of how to play this game before you play this mod. Then again, there's always the manual... or, there was, back in my day.







  • A complete rewrite of all SAIL dialogue in the game, in tutorials, missions and gameplay, up to date with Starbound 1.4

  • Rewritten planet descriptions in the ship navigation menu

  • A variety of different custom animations to give your digital cat girl assistant some extra personality

  • A few drum & bass references no one will get

  • NEKI chip for Scripted SAIL - An AI chip to make NEKI your ship's AI if you're using Scripted SAIL. Does not require the core NEKI mod.
  • N.E.K.I. Station - Add-on made by the Neki author Juni that changes NEKI's ship computer to resemble her face more.

I don't promise that I will publish the translation, it will depend on how much free time I have and whether I have enough skills to do it. But i will try to figure it out.

I can try to translate, it will hardly be 100% accurate. But I don't know how to translate mods, is there any guide or something like that?.

I don't think subscription order ever makes much of a difference. The load order of mods is determined by the mods themselves. This mod is coded to load after AVIAN, so it will always do that.

I haven't added proper support for Frackin Universe's BYOS tech stations yet, so if you're using one in your ship, that may explain the inconsistencies. AVIAN has no support for FU's SAIL menu either, so if you have FU installed then NEKI will handle all of the FU tech station features. AVIAN should still appear in the Vanilla SAIL menu, if you click on it.

Additionally, you may have some mods that create quests I haven't added support for, which may be why AVIAN is appearing in them instead of NEKI.

AVIAN support is kind of a mess internally, and I've been considering splitting it into a separate add-on. I wish I could fix all this more easily, but I'm not much of a coder, and Starbound has its limitations.
