Description
The mod is obsolete, its support is discontinued, it will be removed after a while. If you need this mod for something, create a copy in advance.

The updated mods are here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3523100213

The mod makes changes to structures that can be considered defensive. It is originally designed to be used with Improved Combat System, but can be used without it.

Barricades are now considered an impassable structure and the effectiveness of cover is 80%. Similar changes have been made to Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Architect, if you have it installed: chain link fence is now an impassable structure and cover effectiveness is 10%; cell wall and cell door are now shot through and cover effectiveness is 10%. As you can guess, such objects allow you to create excellent defenses.

The mod changes the cost of walls, doors, barricades and other similar objects. Building a section of basic wall costs 10 units, a door - 20. This seems more balanced to me (why for the same amount of resources you can build either one door or five sections of wall? Where is the logic?). At the same time, the durability of these objects has been increased, from the base 300 units to 500 units. Similarly, the strength of mountains has been increased (up to 1000 units of base strength multiplied by the material characteristic), moreover - now it corresponds to the characteristics of the material, as it should be (in the vanilla game, the strength of mountains is poorly correlated with the characteristics of the material).

Reduced the cost of traps to make their use not so expensive.

Support for the following mods is present:

Vanilla Factions Expanded – Medieval,
Vanilla Factions Expanded – Settlers,
Vanilla Factions Expanded – Tribals,
Vanilla Factions Expanded – Vikings,
Vanilla Furniture Expanded – Architect,
Vanilla Furniture Expanded – Art,
Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Medical Module,
Vanilla Furniture Expanded – Security,
Vanilla Vehicles Expanded,
Vanilla Factions Expanded - Insectoids 2,
Windows,
[LTS]Furnishing,
Diagonal Walls,
Diagonal Walls 2,
ReBuild: Doors and Corners.

If you have walls (doors, etc.) from other mods - no big deal! The balance will not be disturbed. Compared to modernized objects, they are weaker, but also cheaper at the same time. You can assume that this is the way it is designed.

Just in case, I'd like to remind you that shot-through objects are not treated as full walls by the game. To use the grids from Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Architect to build prison cells, you need to place them in a separate room. The thing is that all beds in it will become prison beds. This is how the game mechanics work (the embrasures from other mods have exactly the same feature).

Warning

I do not recommend adding a mod to an existing save, and especially not deleting it while playing!

I also released a separate mod “X - Impassable Barricades” https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3265831801. It only changes the basic barricades and nothing else. It may be of interest to those who don't like my balance edits for the other objects.

Answers to possible questions:

- Why remake the barricades? There are already plenty of mods that add embrasures.
- Let me ask you a counter question. Why use mods that add a bunch of buildings when the base game already has defenses that just needed a little tweaking? I don't like bloating the game with things that can be done without. So I try to improve on what's already there.
- What's the rest of it for?
- I don't like vanilla balance, so I'm trying to fix everything I can.
- It's not fair to use embrasures!
- It's far more dishonest to build death mazes by exploiting the stupidity of the AI.

Thanks) that's an important point, I keep forgetting to post if it's possible to add a mod to an existing save.

Yes, it is. If you remove the mod during the game, it will have the opposite effect - the strength of the walls will exceed the maximum possible. I added a warning in the mod description that you should not do that.

Activation of this mod mid-save made all my walls half-broken ))

Yeah, and i also seem like those glass walls don't function like windows as to permit the light inside too :(

Added support for the “ReBuild: Doors and Corners” mod. Yeah, “Windows” doesn't seem to be updated anytime soon, if at all (I've seen Owlchemist mods being updated by other people, but I have high doubts they're doing anything other than adding formal compatibility). Alas, I can't fix the glass walls from “ReBuild: Doors and Corners” so that they work like windows from “Windows” (you can shoot through windows from “Windows”, but you can't shoot through glass walls from “ReBuild: Doors and Corners”). If I try to make them shootable, they cease to fulfill their primary function (the game stops considering them walls). So I just corrected the cost and strength of the objects.
Also added the links. Thanks for pointing that out, I had completely forgotten about them)

And for this mod I suggest adding compatibility with the new popular mod ReBuild: Doors and Corners . I'm afraid that Windows mod won't be properly updated :(

Great mod! I really enjoy the face barricades do what their names say they do, barricade. It's been great having the barricades actually be useful.

@Graf,
Thank makes sense, thanks for getting back to me!

Yes, I deliberately didn't change it. A brick wall is built for 8 units and has a base strength of 400 units. This fits perfectly with my balance of 10 for 500. The only thing is, while a brick wall used to be an "expensive but durable" build, now it's "slightly less durable but cheap". If there is an option to not change something, I try not to change it.)) Besides, it seemed logical to me - a large, monolithic masonry block is stronger than a relatively smaller and more fragile brick, after all.

Wow you were thorough, with LTS Furnishings I was just hoping the prison wall would be made similar to yours. But bringing most of their walls on par with yours is pretty awesome. I think one got missed, the Brick Wall from mod seems to have the old stats while all the other were updated. Thanks so much again for the compatibility!
