Old World Blues - Bone Cohort

Description
16/06/2025
Version: 2.5.2d

Politics? On my Cohort?

I guess I had to read the Brotherhood, huh?

"Two brothers. That's what they were, from where did they come from? Why they were here? And most importantly... will they survive what is to come? The Oregon wont be the same..."

"I do not care what you say, the Oregon will be mine." -Borealis

The Oregon has been an uncivilized rectangle of horrors for the last 200 years. Caesar hopes to defeat the NCR in less than 230 weeks. But to do so, unbeknownst to most of the Legion, he has set up a contingency plan in the form of the Bone Centurion and his lesser brother. If they succeed in conquering the Oregon tribes and securing the north, they expect to earn a place at Caesar's side. If they fail... they'll serve as a good distraction!

Will the Twins succeed, or will the Centurion Council see to their demise?
  • Establish your Cohort! As a Legion expedition, construction is limited, and industry is even rarer. Make wise choices to ensure victory over the Oregon tribes! (Don't forget your camera!)

  • Maintain relationships between the Centurion Council, through bribe or cutthroat methods, or face the peril of a civil war!

  • Or follow Caesar's will to the letter and be named the 'Legate of the North'!

  • Determine the fates of leaders and key figures of Oregon. Will they serve alongside the Bone Centurion, or will their deaths strengthen his rule?

  • Unlock Centurion traits and secure the Bone Centurion's legacy as either the greatest figure the Oregon will ever know, using the religions, technologies, and methods of both the Legion and the Oregon tribes!!

  • Interact with a variety of characters, or go alone, and rule by yourself...

  • Extensive Narrative Elements! Illiterates abstain!

  • Slavery returns! Check the Mapmodes!

  • This is a 'Hard' mod, you might lose! But you can try again!

  • Play with the Wild Wasteland gamerule for more flavor events! (Too Wild)

Fully works with and without DLC.
Should be compatible with most mods!

"Things could have gone worse...or not." -Australis

And finally about Caesar, I kinda scripted it that way so it would be your 'final' and hardest adversary. If Caesar dies and the legion fragments it's just a stomp, no matter who wins and so on, and the Bone Cohort is supposed to be hard... I mean, or atleast not easy!

After all the Bone Cohort does not touch any other nations, except that. But I could change it so you can still do the Game Rule and he will die.

I would love you to join our discord so we can talk more. I have soooo many things to say about the tierlist HAHAHA!

@New Willinium Hey! Nice to see you Willinium, I love your reddit posts, but as I am not able to post there, we can never talk u.u

1) It's part of people never actually playing the mod and going off hearsay, as you might have noticed, a lot of people think this mod is something that its not. So I have no clue why they say that. In the literal pre alpha versions when I started making it, Borealis was going to have wife choices, but that idea got scrapped because everyone kept chosing Hannah. And then it just made sense to focus on her.

2) You can! In Isaias case, it's a very secret way of doing it, because hes such an horrible guy that there is only one way... To Bribe him with another woman! Port Maw's leader, Granger, has a different portrait in the mod! Thus, if you didnt bribe or kill him, by the time you recruit Granger into the Cohort, you can use her and then Isaias will become a better/worse person, depending who you ask!

Also is there a way to guarantee Caesar dies? I've done the mod about 4 times now, and have yet to be able to play the focus where Caesar dies taking Vegas. The actual guarantee from the default OWB mod does not seem to work when this is activated.

So hey, just checking in to say I really enjoyed this update, though I do have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering.

1) Frequently I see folks talk about this sub-mod as if it's become a dating simulator, but insofar as I can tell from numerous playthroughs you can only "Romance" Hannah. Who else can you supposedly romance? And if there are others how do you unlock that feature?

2) Is there a way to actually persuade the entire Centurion Council to acquiesce with your decision to give women full and equal rights? I know that you can persuade Corbylys twice over through your foci tree, Defectum can be mesmerized, Saltus just does not care, and Isaias seemingly can never be persuaded that giving women rights can be a good thing.

Which makes sense considering Isaias whole character and *deal*, but still.

Is this a thing where if you place them as one of your second in commands above the other Centurions that they'll give you more wiggle room?

@Toadvine I was really busy yesterday and I only saw this because someone mentioned it, you made me laugh so much and someone even made a meme in my discord.

Apologies accepted, there is no need to apologized, everyone can have a heated HOI4 moment.
I am very glad you enjoyed it and I suggest you to join the discord to talk more about your experience!

Oh, and I was like a full glass of green apple schnapps deep when that all happened, too. MB

2/2 I imagine, with my limited experience from the mod, that the idea is to assassinate or bribe him between his last and second-to-last step. But the sheer time it takes to take care of the centurion council problem means that unless you're leaving saves every quarter year it seems super easy to soft-lock yourself as I did.
I know I can, and I will, just try again with more knowledge, and most of my frustration was that it a) happened at 1am and I had to be up at 7 for work and b) I'd had a very unsatisfying day leading up to that, but still I'd hate for this to happen to other players, especially ones less obsessed with OWB that may get turned off from the experience entirely (happened in base mod to a friend who refuses to play now).
Again, thank you for your work in making such a unique experience, and I am sorry for the harsher of the words I said last night.
Toadvine Jul 28 @ 3:21pm
@OwnZar and devils_ninja, it was asshole sunglasses man. For the creator, I've cooled off from last night and want to apologize for the sounding rod comment. I won't remove the original comment, I'm not a coward, but I do want to say some more.
First, this IS and amazing mod. The mechanical side of things, from managing slaves to raiding territory, is deep and satisfying (lmao). The story-writing is the best I've read for OWB and it's submods, and the character detail given to the cast is believable and interesting (twink Frumentarii and all).
Now, reading around I see that there are multiple ways of ending up like Joshua Graham but from what I gather most of them seem recoverable via loading a previous save. It's your mod, your decision obviously, but death by mr sunglasses reaching his "final form" really does feel like a punch to the gut. 1/2

I assume Toadvine was killed by the funny Odious King, I am 90% his focus line is broken and you can't finish it like you used to be able to
OwnZar Jul 28 @ 12:04pm
@Toadvine But who killed you.
The shady looking Ghoul or the shady looking sun-glasses wearing guy?
