Love Marriage Family

Leírás

For CK3 version: 1.16.2.3

The purpose of LMF is to add more realism and more roleplaying options to the aspects of CK3 that center on relationships, marriage, and family. From ensuring that the AI makes more sensible choices for spouses and lovers (no more young lovers paired up with old crones) to adding more interactions with your family & heir to adding more noble maidens as marriage options... there's a lot here to add to your game.

Additional information on the various features can be found in the discussion thread

Also included is the ANSF3 mod, which allows you to construct a family for your custom rulers:

Yes, some. The mod increases the number of children overall (since more courtiers are getting married). If you're concerned, there are game rules allowing you to restrict or even shut off many aspects of the mod, to make them less burdensome on your PC.

It's NOT going to play well with Total Conversion mods - the bigger and more expansive the mod, the more likely there are going to be conflicts, even if it appears like the mods load together fine.

It's also not likely to play well with other mods that touch on the same subjects, as there are a number of places where LMF needs to include the entire vanilla event file (pregnancy & birth files, in particular).

More detailed information on compatibility can be found in the discussion thread.

Can I Incorporate This Mod Into My Own?

If you like, certainly. Just give me credit somewhere.

Speaking of credit, a few acknowledgements of my own:
  • Obviously, the A New Sensible Family 2 mod. My updates have been spun off into its own A New Sensible Family 3 mod by request, for use by those who simply want to access it without the rest of the tweaks LMF provides.

  • The features involving marriage AI and additional young maidens being added have their root in the Less Old Wives and the More Babies for Counts & Dukes mods, both of which haven't been updated in quite some time. I've almost completely reworked the code by this point, but credit's still owed for where I started.

Please feel free to report any issues (ideally in a discussion thread) and I'll deal with them as promptly as I can.

I'd suggest not using LMF with those mods, then. There are too many places where courtiers are assumed to be AI, with the courtier side of events not even having a notification never mind full event of its own, and I'm not going to find them all in order to try to make them compatible. Just don't do it.

So I noticed a minor compatibility issue with mods that allow the player to play as a landless character. For example, "Real Freedom - Really Landless", "Landless Opportunities: Playable Courtiers" and "Bum to God: Rags to riches - RTP". The player character while being a courier for an AI court can be married off without their permission. One second you could be serving your chosen lord dutifully then be whisked off to some other court without know till you look.

Mods used to confirm:
1.Debug Toggle
2.Real Freedom - Really Landless
3.Landless Opportunities: Playable Courtiers
4.Love Family Marriage

How repeat:
Create adventurer, disband camp decision, join anyones court, do not marry and wait till the AI marries you off

@GG Terran There's an Abdicate decision in vanilla? So... no.

Great mod! Thank you. Will you be adding a abdicate decision? I think it will compliment your "Heir In Training" feature? Thanks and have a wonderful day!

@ancientlover712 Look in the "LMF Compatibility" discussion for more info, but I've made effort to at least make LMF semi-compatible with AGOT.

Has anyone tried this mod with AGOT? I really would like to try this out but I've had issues with bigger mods influencing event pop-ups.

@daniela.kemp I've literally never had a problem marrying off any adult daughter in my playtests - but, then, I don't restrict her to marrying men much younger than she is. I'm not sure why that appears to be your primary criteria.

I could raise the limit a bit on the absolute -1000 penalty part - there's already a separate penalty when attempting to betrothe a woman over the age of 20 to a child, anyhow, I suppose. I wouldn't do it by much, however, so if you're somehow unable to find a match now you're not likely to do it then, either. Sorry.
daniela.kemp júl. 8., 3:19
Thank you for the response @Rylock! I think the penalty is -1000 for an age difference equal or greater than 10years. Which makes betrothals impossible. Would it be possible to have a lower penalty here? Like 8-11 years it's -50, 12-15 years it's -150 and only for 16years and above it's actually -1000. For me it was impossible to find partners (outside of the court) for young adult women of my house multiple times because any eligble male over the age of 11 is already betrothed, and so I have to look for younger boys. This happens most often if a previous betrothal/marriage ended due to early death of the groom.

@daniela.kemp I'll take another look at where the line is set for older women, but I doubt you'll see it changing much mainly because it IS quite important not to have such a large age gap - and it simply wasn't done, to boot. The problem with women having such a comparatively narrow window to have children, I suppose.

As for turning the visit into an entire event chain - well, yes, if I had enough time to write all the associated events, it could be done. I'd once toyed with the idea of making a "visit relatives" activity, complete with a bunch of random events that would allow relatives to catch up with each other. That it didn't get done boiled down to me spending my time doing other things I found more interesting, is all.

Another suggestion: your mod introduces inviting far-away spouses to visit. Could they perhaps stay for at least a month or two? It's nice that they come over for a try at heir making, but leaving after one night makes that feel like a short stop at a motel. There should be some events while the visiting spouse is there! There could be a family feast - with some possible parts about seeing children again/for the first time, there could be discussions about children's education, about at which court a child should live, or possibly even a big fight about that situation not being sustainable, and trying to force the spouse in the weaker position (so female in patrilinear- , male in matrilinear marriage) to abdicate and become a support-spouse. Also, visiting husbands should maybe pose a question why their landed wife had a child a year ago, after he hasn't seen her for 3 years. And maybe, if they pose that question, they could also adress the issue of inheritance of said child.
