Love Marriage Family

Kuvaus

For CK3 version: 1.18.0.2

The purpose of LMF is to add more realism and more roleplaying options to the aspects of CK3 that center on relationships, marriage, and family. From ensuring that the AI makes more sensible choices for spouses and lovers (no more young lovers paired up with old crones) to adding more interactions with your family & heir to adding more noble maidens as marriage options... there's a lot here to add to your game.

Additional information on the various features can be found in the discussion thread

Also included is the ANSF3 mod, which allows you to construct a family for your custom rulers:

Yes, some. The mod increases the number of children overall (since more courtiers are getting married). If you're concerned, there are game rules allowing you to restrict or even shut off many aspects of the mod, to make them less burdensome on your PC.

DO NOT USE THIS WITH AGOT! AGOT HAS INTEGRATED LMF!

It's NOT going to play well with Total Conversion mods - the bigger and more expansive the mod, the more likely there are going to be conflicts, even if it appears like the mods load together fine.

It's also not likely to play well with other mods that touch on the same subjects, as there are a number of places where LMF needs to include the entire vanilla event file (pregnancy & birth files, in particular).

More detailed information on compatibility can be found in the discussion thread.

Can I Incorporate This Mod Into My Own?

If you like, certainly. Just give me credit somewhere.

Speaking of credit, a few acknowledgements of my own:
  • Obviously, the A New Sensible Family 2 mod. My updates have been spun off into its own A New Sensible Family 3 mod by request, for use by those who simply want to access it without the rest of the tweaks LMF provides.

  • The features involving marriage AI and additional young maidens being added have their root in the Less Old Wives and the More Babies for Counts & Dukes mods, both of which haven't been updated in quite some time. I've almost completely reworked the code by this point, but credit's still owed for where I started.

Please feel free to report any issues (ideally in a discussion thread) and I'll deal with them as promptly as I can.

@wren06 That's fair. Pulling mods out of your list and then assuming that's where the cause was when you can suddenly get past a crash bug isn't really a good way of finding the actual source of the problem, though. I suppose I shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the idea, but the changes in the 1.18 compatch were pretty low-risk (for LMF, anyhow) and there wasn't really anything else introduced aside from that... so I'd need a lot more convincing before I went on a hunt for a crash bug, especially when there are other mods involved. ;)

I've played this game off and on since it's release date, I played and added mods to CK2 as well, I have been adding mods to games since Morrowind was released in 2000/2001. I understand how mods work and how seemingly benign changes in mod updates, game updates, load orders, patches, "dirty saves" game cache, etc etc, can cause issues that the very day before weren't there. My comment below was not meant to be an indictment on this great mod. I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I've stopped using this mod for the time being, but that's only because there are still so many other mods updating, fixing updates, patching, compatching, and then the game itself keeps doing it too. When the dust settles I will start a new play through and really start to fiddle. This mod is definitely worth having in anyone's playlist.

When I first started using this mod, (which, admittedly, was also when I first started seriously trying to play this game) I did often crash when events popped. I had narrowed the issue down to the two mods I most wanted to use: LMF and More Rules. Or so I thought. The actual culprit was my machine itself. I turned off character animations and reduced the texture quality, and poof, pretty much all my issues were solved, including not being able to get past event popping by certain days.

@Beefnoodle I've lost track of the number of times I've had someone show up insisting that their other mods "wouldn't affect X or Y" and yet a mod conflict is indeed the source of their problem. As is most likely the case here - it doesn't require another mod to be focused on family & marriage, it just requires another mod be out of date or have an important file conflicting. If you think adding *another* mod on top of your existing mix could solve your issue... that's highly unlikely.

this is the only mod i have that alter family & marriage, with it somehow vassals does not marry anymore autonomously and i cannot do marriage proposal targeting the vassals ruler - with their unlanded family it works fine though. do you encounter similar issues and if not do you think it solvable with another mod that on top of it would solve the issue

Game crash is caused by 18.0.2 update from Paradox. I tested with 0 mods and the game would still crash every 15~30 minutes. You have to revert back to 18.0.0 in steam beta configuration.

LMF is not the issue.

@wren06 I can tell you right now that LMF is not the source of your problem. At best, it'd be some other mod clashing with LMF. But if it makes you feel better to disable LMF, by all means do so.

@RainbowYeti As gaaras.apprentice mentioned, there ARE bonuses for desirable traits and maluses for undesirable traits as it is. Assuming you have no other mods mixed in which are overwriting LMF's modifier list, that's going to affect the chances... but it's not so overwhelming it's the only factor, and I wouldn't change it to be such.

@callomerlose Yes, Albino adds -100 to the marriage desirability, much like other negative inheritable traits. That amount *is* surmountable, assuming you have other positive things you can throw into the mix, but if not -- then I guess you're stuck marrying a courtier, yes.

Unfortunately had to disable this mod. It has, on two different occasions, cause my game to CTD. This never occurred before the recent game updates. Each time it seems to happen when I am running another event. The first time was during a grand tourney that I was hosting. Once the clock hit a certain date, poof, done. Narrowed it down to this mod, disabled it, ran past that date, no issues, then re-enabled it on a new save after that calendar date and game ran on fine, for probably 3 or 4 more years, till now, when in the waiting stages of a grand wedding for guests to arrive. Same issue, as of a certain date, ctd. I'm going to guess it's because this mod tried to run an event on that date which fails. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I have an event window up or not. The mod still runs events some successfully, but there must be some event that isn't triggering correctly or playing nicely with another mod or game mechanic.
