Smelt Ore By Product

Description
Just a simple mod that adds a new category to the Smelter, "Smelt ores by product." This allows you task orders to smelt any ore of a given metal in a single order, instead of having to select the specific ores.

A caveat, smelting tetrahedrite will no longer have a chance of producing a small amount of silver when smelted as a "copper ore", and will no longer produce copper if smelted as a "silver ore" (which is a bit of an exploit that allows a lot of silver out of tetrahedrite). Galena is also slightly quirky, smelting it as "lead ore" will produce lead and silver, smelting it as "silver ore" will produce just silver (also at an increased rate like tetrahedrite).

Non-Steam users can find it on DFFD as "[50.xx] Smelt Ore By Product"!

-- Installation --

Subscribe here on the Workshop, or unpack into the DF mods folder if you're using the DFFD version, then enable the mod when generating a new world!

-- Compatibility --

This should be compatible with any mod that doesn't significantly change the vanilla metal ores.

If the "Smelt ores by product" category isn't showing up in the smelter, make sure Smelt Ore By Product is lower in the load order than any mods that remove-and-replace the MOUNTAIN entity, or just move SOBP to the bottom of the load order.

Ah, defeated once more by not reading more than the first sentence

Yup, it's right there in the mod description. :) Unfortunately there's no consistent way to make this mod do what it does while preserving silver recovery from tetrahedrite. Actually, I should update that, as tetrahedrite can also be smelted as a silver ore and won't produce copper.

I noticed that when I told it to smelt copper ore, it only produces copper from Tetra, not any silver at all

MOUNTAIN are the vanilla dwarf race; this mod only applies to them. The only things left that I can think of that would make it not appear are: using a mod to play another race, or the mod wasn't enabled when the world was generated.

Not sure what you mean by reactions to the MOUNTAIN entity, it is in the bottom though :O

@Lasse Oop, sorry for the late reply, didn't get a notification > <

As far as I can tell the mod is working fine; it does only add the reactions to the MOUNTAIN entity (ie. dwarves), however. It's possible that another mod might be overwriting its changes, so try loading SObP near the bottom of your mod order.

cant see this when smelting, do i have to setup something? or is this mod not for latest DF

Usually that happens if something added further down the load order replaces the MOUNTAIN entity; try moving SObP to the bottom of your load order.

any idea why this isnt showing up after enabling? it was working fine in my last world but gone in this new one...

Per the Dark Ages mod: "Any mods to Dwarves or Vanilla Entities will conflict with DA:5." It's likely their mod replaces the MOUNTAIN entity entirely. You can try moving SObP to the end of your load order but it depends on how they made their mod work.
