Gene Trader

Description
Updated for 1.6

Adds a new orbital trader type for all your Biotech needs! Sells up to 10 genepacks, slaves, drugs, as well as archite capsules and torpor capacity serums. I was tired of waiting for exotic goods just for them to have a measly choice of 1 to 3 genes to choose from, bunch of casuals I'm telling you.

Some info:

- This trader is trade ship only. It doesn't appear as a caravan.
- The pool of genes to choose from can vary from 10 to 13.
- Will also show modded genes as long as they are under GeneDef. Load Gene Trader after these mods just in case.

Compatible with Call Trade Ships.

If you have any issues please provide logs and explanations. This mod is extremely simple and xml only so you shouldn't encounter any but who knows.

Note that the only dependency for this mod is Biotech itself, you may find false dependency warnings shown in Rimpy but they can be safely ignored.

I think some of the misc. tools from alpha genes do show, but alpha packs themselves won't show up in the gene trader inventory, mostly to respect the balancing decision on their end. If you're stuck waiting for those quests to show up, I think I remember a setting in the alpha genes mod that changes the frequency of the abandoned biotech lab quest appearing. cant say for sure tough.

Would this work with Alpha Genes as well? Curious, because otherwise it's having to wait for some biotech factory to show up..

Dunno wtf Trade Ships No Matter What is doing under the hood, but it seems to be pre-loading trade ships, then writes the queue in the save file? It may have picked Gene Trader for the queue, then you removed it, and it tried loading something that quite literally didn’t exist anymore, causing those exceptions as the queue is in the save file. My computer is in repair atm so I can’t look further. For Gene Trader appearing too much, it’s either bad luck or another mod changing spawn chances. There’s no way to change trader rate XML only unless you have additional C# code and Gene Trader doesn’t. It functions as any other native trader with just more genes in stock.

For fixing your save, there’s a few things you can do
- clear any cache/configs related to Trade Ships Matter in your file
- open up the save using notepad or some xml editor, find any line mentioning orbital trader or gene trader, then erase it
- clear Rocketman’s cache in the in-game settings

Hello, I'm having a grey screen that pauses the game when I receive an error of attempting to have a gene trader ship pass by in 1.5.
I got this error when starting my most recent play-through without it enabled or unsubbed altogether. Issue with just playing with it on is that ALL orbital traders are only the gene traders. I have gone through removing batches of mods and seeing if there's another conflict but am unable to determine why this is happening.

is my log output and if you need anything else let me know, thank you for your time.

Hello. Are there any plans for adding this trader type to those available to summon via Odyssey's orbital trader faction?

This mod should put below Alpha Books, otherwise a lot of books will be put in.

funny fact but you can get random new genepacks using vanilla trading expanded contracts.
