Historical Naval Production

Description
The amount of ships produced in WWII was astronomical and much higher than this game represents. There was no way to easily remedy this due to the game's core mechanics. Instead I have opted for a simple remedy. This mod is one line of code that doubles naval production per dockyard from 2.5 to 5. This is global and so it affects the AI as well.

I know this isn't a perfect fix for historical naval production but it should be a tad more realistic. It will also allow for more freedom to build fleets for any nation. Please let me know if you have any issues!

***Mod should be compatible with any other mod or DLC so long as they don't mess with the naval production values.

***DISCLAIMER***

This mod was originally designed to be compatible with RT56 and so a dependency was added in the descriptor file. People have complained that certain features of RT56 are not working or that the mod is not showing up correctly in the launcher. Because of an asinine uploading system provided by Paradox, updating this mod is impossible. Instead I will offer these solutions.

Troubleshooting:

1.) Mod not showing up.

- Go to Documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV
- delete the folder Documents/paradox/HOI4/mod/
- delete the file Documents/paradox/HOI4/mods_registry.json *IF IT EXISTS
- delete the file Documents/paradox/HOI4/launcher-v2.sqlite
- open mods list in HOI4 launcher and look for a refresh icon in the upper right
- click the icon and make sure the tick box is checked for "clear cache and update from server"
- hit reload
- see if fixed
- If not then: delete everything in the folder Documents/paradox/HOI4 EXCEPT "save games"
- click the refresh icon and make sure the tick box is checked for "clear cache and update from server"
- hit reload
- see if fixed

2.) RT56 Not working correctly

- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\
- You will see weird folder numbers (these are your steam games)
- Click into one of the folders and see more weird numbered folders (these are your mods for said games)
- Click around until you find your HOI4 mod folder and click "2618895984" folder
- In this folder is my mod. Open the descriptor file in Notepad.
- Remove "dependencies={"The Road to 56"}"
- This mod should not interfere with RT56 afterward, if it was the cause. And will still work.

Thanks!

Ships are consuming too much fuel, I can't keep up with oil production even early on - all of my civvies are being used to trade for oil. Is there an argument to either lower fuel consumption in ships or buff oil production proportional to how many more ships are being built?

@Danando compare that to the US Navy at the end of the war.

are you sure ? :/

i mean , at the beginning of World War II, the Royal Navy was the strongest navy in the world, with the largest number of warships built and with naval bases across the globe. It had over 15 battleships and battlecruisers, 7 aircraft carriers, 66 cruisers, 164 destroyers and 66 submarines.

says it is missing the "descriptor" file

too bad it still doesn't appear, no matter what I do, I really wanted naval battle for a change !

(well, only 30 out of my 250mods showing in the launcher... (working now since they got their data weigh shown)

Hopefully, someone create a workable launcher like for Xcom 2 Alternative Launcher free from Paradox ads and slow launcher -like for Rome total war and Civilization 5, all developpers decided to replace workable launcher by a crappy launcher with ads instead)

Because I haven't looked at it.
Is the AI still stacking CVs? I thought more than 4 CVs in a fleet results in debuffs

@RiverTurnip5182 No but that is a mod I am seriously considering building. I'm just not sure of the historical accuracy of it. I know carriers were used in greater numbers during battle, but I'm not sure if it was effective, and the overstacking penalty "supposedly" represents that.
RiverTurnip5182 Oct 16 @ 12:34pm
does this mod get rid of carrier overstacking in battles?
Blitzendegen Oct 16 @ 12:08am
Even after doing fixes to get the mod to show it will eventually disappear again.

@The_Spartan I partially agree with you. However even barebones ships in WWII had engines, basic guns and other modules. When you add these in HOI4 you get a much larger value than 500. This mod is definitely not perfect, but that is because dockyard mechanics in this game are not well developed. I still feel this mod is well balanced, especially since AI can also produce equal to the player. But I'll leave that decision to you.
