Description
The Vixen Experimental Attack Frigate is a fast, lightly armoured but heavily armed frigate designed to cripple larger ships with overwhelming firepower. The Vixen's main weapon is a rapid fire gravity accelerator that fires high explosive, shield piercing rounds at a rate of 240 RPM (Creative Mode, survival welding speed determines survival RoF). This hail of fire is capable of breaking through any point defence if given enough time and can drill through armour at an alarming rate. The mass of projectiles can also effectively screen other ships from a targets point defence, making the Vixen ideal as fire support for a fleet.

Utilising hybrid Ion/Hydrogen propulsion, the ship itself is quick and nimble, and has four Jumpdrives to facilitate swift relocation. This agility comes at the cost of armour, and the Vixen is ill suited to extended engagements in CQB. It is, however, more than capable of finishing off targets crippled by it's Vanquisher cannon using it's ten forward orientated Missile turrets. Two heavy and three light gatling turrets provide solid defence vs small ships.

The ideal engagement range for this ship is 1 – 1.5Km
The Vanquisher's projectiles converge on the crosshair, or the centre of the screen if using the default overlay, at about 1.2km
Lock Gyroscopes to eliminate “recoil”
Lead the target, you are much more likely to hit with the Vanquisher than a regular grav gun, but this is largely due to the volume of fire, you still need to account for the 100m/s max speed.
Alternatively, charge straight toward your target at about 75m/s and open fire with the VAC at about 1500m, with luck, the enemy turrets will be completely occupied with the projectiles, allowing you to bombard the target with missiles from your turrets at 600-800m and move off before the target can return fire.
To maintain a decent simulation speed, it is recommended that you change your worlds Trash Removal settings to remove powered grids of less than 20 block that are more than 2000m away from player.

This is a concept build that while functional in survival, is difficult to build and the VAC is very expensive to fire for any duration of time. If you like the hull, I would recommend cutting out the VAC assembly and gravity generators and replacing it with 6 rocket launcher. The Rotor turrets can easily be replaced with gatling turrets and the small console in the CIC can be removed. This will leave Auto-Door and Auto-LCD Scripts intact as they are on the main grid.

You can make this fly in an atmosphere if you have the tiered thrusters mod. I replaced most hydrogen thrusters with T4 hydrogen from the mod and it's one of the most agile frigates I've ever flown. Of course, the gravity accelerator won't work in an atmosphere, but, you could totally fire it if you point straight down at your target. I've taken down AI trader ships with the gravity gun inside of atmospheres. Very difficult to aim as you're basically just waiting for gravity to drag the projectiles down towards your target.

so... i spawned this in and activated all the gravity generators... probably a mistake because i was sent out the front on the ship at 18.02 G of gravity. am i supposed to only activate 1 or all of them?

@DeAnti - Thanks man. If the ship has a primary weapon or feature, like this ones grav gun, I start with that so I know how much space it needs. After that I build the exterior hull, typically beginning with the nacelles or rear thrusters, but sometimes the nose. Then I do thrusters and often gyros too. Then conveyors and eventually interior.

@Biggthatsme - Fair enough! Thanks for tracking that down, I hadn't seen it. It looks like it wasn't very popular, only 42 subs, I guess I missed it. I like the 45 degree angles to get 8 rounds, I hadn't thought of that. Credit where credit is due, I've added a link to the description.

This is beautifully done. The exterior manages to be artful without being excessive or wasting blocks. The interior is an excellent mix of "cool sci-fi warship" and practical. The command seat's lcd screen system is superb. And of course, this is a badass ship, I'd hate to be on the receiving end of this thing!
This is the kind of ship that makes me jealous of people's creative abilities lol. I think this is my favorite warship on the workshop so far.
