16-Bit Mania!! is back with 16-Bit Mania!!: Champion Edition

Based on the Fire Pro Returns 16-Bit Mania packs I made a long time ago, the Champion Edition collections are designed to emulate the Arcade and Console experience of late 80's/early 90's wrestling games, each Champion Edition collection will feature a single promotion based on a specific year, complete with 12 singles and 8 tag team wrestlers for a total of 20 edits per collection. There will also be managers and a referee included in each collection, but the managers will be designed to be seconds so they will not have detailed move sets or wrestling logic and the heels will be set to high interference.

Move sets and logic are based on one of six edit style templates (Standard/Power/Big Heavy/High Flyer/Technician/Rough).

Move sets are personalized for each wrestler through Taunts and Special Moves/Finishers. Non-Template specific move variations can include punches, chops or headbutts to avoid using special moves on these types of attack moves, Ric Flair being an example of an edit that would use chop as a basic attack instead of a punch. Another move set variation is that the heel edits will include a face rake in place of the snap mare/arm drag move spot for the faces. Edits have a 'bleeding penalty', regular and small edits have the recovery while bleeding stat set to 'slow', and bigger or power based edits have the breathing while bleeding stat set to 'below'.

The original Fire Pro Returns packs featured gradient editing to give the edits an Arcade visual look, with the Champion Edition the edits will feature a brighter color pallet with higher highlights settings and exaggerated features/body parts to simulate the arcade look. I also wanted to do entrance attire and include entrance attire title belts variations and half the wrestlers from this era wore robes to the ring, so I gave edits entrance jackets when I couldn't do their proper entrance attires.

Working with a 20 edit roster limit, there are always going to be hard cuts that you have to make. I had to decide between doing the four total tag teams or adding two solo faces and two solo heels and I decided to add the extra tag team which means the singles roster is only six faces and six heels so there are always going to be good wrestlers missing. I plan to release the six style templates so that if a wrestler you like does not make the roster cut, you can add them!

I plan to make a variety of promotions and years in this style, no set road map or time frame but all of the 16-Bit style edits that get made will be compatible with each other.

This is really just a fun tribute for me to my old edit packs, these edits are designed to emulate the arcade games which means they will not be putting on the highest rated matches all of the time, but that's the idea. There will be move spam and the random pin after a regular move, not too often but enough that it plays like a game that didn't have the benefit of better logic xD
