Description


This mod adds Protogen to Starbound!

This mod is in it's very early stages, and as such may not be entirely balanced or function properly. Let me know of any bugs you find, and I'll be sure to fix those ASAP.

New update: Update V0.9.5

Been a while, hasn't it? This update adds a bit of new stuff, rebalances other stuff, and changes a few other things here and there.

WARNING! this update changes tile IDs to fix conflicts with the Black Ice mod, and will cause all existing saves with protogen tiles present to convert to either dirt or black ice tiles. Tiles in the inventory shouldn't be affected.

WARNING 2!! This update changes the tail sprites a little bit to fix some issues with it, but if you're using the customization addon it won't work. There is a separate patch available that overrides the file in question with a version including the new tail.

NEW CONTENT

STAREXTENSIONS
- The Protogen mod now has support for text-to-speech voices with the StarExtensions[github.com] mod, because I thought it was funny. Also makes the heads rotate to where your mouse is pointing, and works fully with/without the mod installed.

CHARACTERS
- Added a few new fin style options to the character creator. I tried to make versions with glowy bits, but couldn't get them to inherit the eye colour properly :(

MECHS
- The Protogen now have their own unique starter mech chassis, as well as a craftable upgraded variant. If anything goes wrong with it, let me know. In my testing it's been okay, but your mileage may vary.

ARMOUR
- All 4 initial tiers of armour are now available, craftable at the Protogen workbench available at the Inventors Table level 2.

WEAPONS
- A new upgraded variant of the starter sword, a new shortsword, & 2 new shields, all craftable at the Protogen workbench.

CLOTHING
- Re-added clothing options to the character creator, currently just 2 options but I might make more eventually.

CRAFTING
- Changed a bunch of recipes up, fixed a few that were broken or unimplemented, swapped the furniture to be craftable with iron instead of tungsten, and made it possible for non-Protogen characters to get the crafting stations, items, and recipes via a shop terminal craftable at the inventors table.

NPCS
- Fixes a few things relating to NPC/tenants, gives them more fitting speech sounds, and enables new types to spawn like merchants and guards, which should have proper outfits. I think. (If anything breaks lemme know)

BUGS
- Fixed some stuff like that pesky RAM item issue, some NPC shenanigans, and a few broken things here and there.

MISC.
- Changed the design of the flag again, and also probably some other stuff I forgot

Frackin' Universe FUSAIL patch available here[github.com], though FU itself should come with out of the box compatibility now. I will be working on my own Frackin' Races stat add-on at some point though.

In order for Futara's Dragon Pixel Full Bright Shader mod to work there's a specific installation method listed in the description, read it carefully instead of just hitting subscribe. The glow effect on Protogen faces will require a new character to function, there's unfortunately no way around that as far as I am aware.

@Bun I did find some more resources on this and found a guide that contains the things you need to help add on the bounty hunter support. In case the discussion thread I opened doesn't show up yet, here's the guide (linked below) which has a download template that you can pull from.

Ah... right, I don't know how the bounty compat would work since never messed with modding other than adding mods to my game saves. I did find some forum posts about modding help for adding bounty support to custom races, though haven't found much else unfortunately.

@Novie definitely is a possibility, though at the current moment I actually do not know how to do that. If you're aware of any documentation on the subject you can point me to, I can look into it. Right now the only NPCs that the mod actually has files for are generic tenants, guards (which I think work), merchants, and villagers (from guard.npctype, merchant.npctype, and villager.npctype, respectively) and the special merchant NPC for the outcast gear. I have no knowledge of Protogen Redux, and was never contacted on my mods integration therein.

Hey there, is there a possibility to add bounty compatibility with your mod or does it already exist?
Currently getting errors or random glitches with em not spawning properly, especially when paired with Protogen Redux which has heavy integration with yours.
Can you confirm if your mod supports being summoned in bounty targets?
Mostly asking since the Protogen Redux is attempting to add them into the peacekeeper bounty targets.

Everytime i check the crash log after uninstaling whatever mod caused the crash it still continues to find others,it could be also that i have too many race mods

@chesse generally if you open the crash log file and look for "error" it'll eventually bring you to something that may explain what went wrong, and what exactly is conflicting

i think from the 500+ mods that will either take too long or break even more things,thanks for the help either way,maybe theres one thing in particular that breaks it

@chesse that isn't a fault of this mod specifically, it's because two mods conflicting with each other. You could say the same thing about the other mods it's conflicting with as well, it would be the same. All I can suggest in your case is to try extracting the mod files and placing them in your starbound mods folder manually, then finding and editing materials so they no longer conflict. Unless something else is somehow horribly wrong anyway

for whatever reason this mod made my game unable to reboot,mostly because it has issues loading ship materials and then fucking with other mods
