Procedurally Generated Ore

Description
This mod replaces the ore spawning maps for all of the vanilla planets. Ore are less frequent and typically occur in larger veins of only one ore. The asteroid ore spawning restrictions of Scarce Resources also applies in this mod. The planet spawns are similar. See the table below for ore spawns for each planet. Credit for the asteroid and surface rock spawning change goes to the creators of Scarce Resources. The images show colour coded (red=iron, blue=cobalt, white=silicone etc) ore vein spawns and the vanilla ore spawn map for reference. Note that ores will no longer spawn under ice lakes.

This will lead to a much more difficult resource mining loop. You will no longer have everything you need within 800m of wherever you start on a planet. Scouting will also play an important role. You will have to spend some time finding the ore veins you need then how you'll get them back to your base etc. Early game will likely depend more on surface rocks and the survival stone to ingot recipe. It will be difficult or impossibly to start anywhere but Earthlike.

I found I had to weigh up whether to thoroughly scout the current planet for the rare ore I need or go to another planet where it is more plentiful.

The table below shows the occurrence of each ore on each planet. One unit here represents a 45x45 square meter patch on the EarthLike planet.

It can be legitimately difficult to find ore veins sometimes. You can easily get unlucky searching for them. Please check thoroughly before reporting that there are no ores. If you still have no luck, there could be a conflict with another mod you are using so please test with a reduced set of mods. Any mod which adds or modifies ore locations/distributions will likely conflict with this mod.

This mod was produced by a highly configurable ore spawning program I wrote in Java. It's reasonably easy to use if you'd like to make your own generated ore mod. Details of it can be found in the "Procedural Ore Generator Release" discussion thread on this mod. This could be useful of you want to combine the ore changes from another mod with this one.

Still works, yes. But as you noted, extended ore detector range (or some other mod that helps you find ore, like that scanner thingy) is a must.

Sometimes it's a gamble. In my current playthrough, I still haven't found Mg near my Earthlike base, except in a few boulders, but then I jumped to the Alien planet for Uranium, and first landing zone I picked, it was right atop of the Uranium patch lol.

Commenting for the next person, but just after posting this, found an underground Cobalt deposit! So still working.

Similar to other questions, should this mod still work in today's versions? I also have Configurable Parameters loaded, and drove a rover around for an hour with a 1,250m range ore detector on EarthLike. Like other commentors, found plenty of ore rocks on the surface, but not a single vein so far.

how thick are the deposits? also is there a way to use this with custom planets?

I got the same issue when i plkay with this. i get surface rocks here or there, but absolutely zero underground rocks.

I've not found any ore underground on Earthlike. Is it just surface rocks?

How is the ore distributed on Pertram?

Lucky indeed, uranium covers just 0.00003% of the Earthlike's surface

I don't know how lucky I got, but I managed to find Uranium ore on the Earthlike with your mod enabled. I'm a happy camper.
