Children of The King adds 4 Mini Boss type Vipers to the game. Three Princes and a Princess. These Children do not follow the Ruler reaction rules but they do each get 3 actions a turn to use. They are all Frost based and ONLY appear during limited Force Levels in the game. You may have games where you run into 1 or 2 or all of them. There are 3 special Sitreps for them. The Viper Children will not retreat. If you find them, they are there to kill or be killed.

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON: This is the earliest Sitrep that can spawn. In this Sitrep, Viper Prince "Chromedome" can apper. He looks the most like his father out of the siblings. His Viper nest is out to find you. If you are spotted, one of the Vipers can call for him to enter combat. Once he enters, he will show up with a larger pod of Vipers. This pod will not come in on a delay. The Viper Princes and Princess can also call in more backup IF they think they need to. Chromedome has blast padding and his weapon has multiple ammo. Like his father, he has the bind, frost breath and is immune to poison. Unlike daddy, ALL the Children have grown an immunity to frost as well as become immune to mental attacks.

DADDY'S LITTLE PRINCESS: As with her Brother Chromdome, the Princess also known as "Sissssster" to her brothers, is quite stong, She is quick and is not afraid to move in close to bind. She also has the frost, poison, and mental immunities but her blood and body is so cold that even fire will not harm her. If killed she will explode dealing frost damage in a very large radius that will also deal explosive damage to anything in the area.

TWIN TROUBLE: The Twin Princes "Mohawk" and "Broken Tusk" were born from the same egg. They hate each other but hate everyone else more. Mohawk lost and eye to Broken Tusk while the two fought to be the first to break free of their egg. Broken Tusk is named so because that tusk broke off in his brothers eye socket. These two will be tough as Mohawk is a close combat fighter and has a Frost Axe that he will use. Brother Broken Tusk will try and keep his distance and hit you with his Frost Caster Sniper Rifle. Same as their siblings, they have 3 actions they can take. Broken Tusk has banish on his rifle that he can use once. Do not get caught in the open because he will gun you down. Like the others they are immune to poison, frost and mental attacks. Broken Tusk also has Lightning Reflexes.


When killed each Viper will drop a corpse. There are no research projets for them (maybe in the future). But their corpses can be sold at the Black Market for nice cash! They are rare after all.

Each will drop a frost item.

Chromedome will drop another Frost Bomb (grenade) not super special but a great chance to get a second grenade.

Sissssster will drop a special Frost Scale Vest that grants immunity to poison and frost, gives 2 HP and has a one time charge per mission to use a special Nitrogen Explosion ability on the vest. If you find yourself surrounded or run into the middle of a pod, you can set up the charge to deal Snap Freeze to all around you. You are immune to the frost and the explosion damage so dont worry. But make sure fellow soldiers are not around whenyou use this ability.

Mohawk will drop his Frost Axe. It has a Frost Slash that will freeze and do damage to your target and has a 4 turn cooldown.

Broken Tusk will drop his Frost Caster Sniper Rifle. It does the same damage as the tier 3 Beam Caster but is a sniper weapon. It has 3 ammo, Frost Shot and Banish. This weapon is a power house!!


THINGS TO DO STILL: Vipers do not yet have Corpse/Autopsy pics but this will come soon. If you see blank black corpse boxes, that is not a bug ;)


NOTE: Because of the nature in how the Viper Children's special items are given... droped as loot with their corpses, if you had to force evac or the mission called for you to evac, you got the corpses (as i set them up to always be given) but there is not a way to get the item drops on evac. So you lose those items even before ever getting them.

NOW... you have a chance to get 2 of each item. If you kill the Viper Children on missions where you have to clear the map and you auto retrieve all corpses and items anyway, you get the corpses and their special item drops. Once you get back to base, you now have the option to still sell the corpses for some much needed cash OR you can now research the bodies and gain a SECOND copy of the special items they would drop in combat.


Missions that you have to evac = guarantied corpse retrieval but lose of the special dropped item. NOW can use the corpse to build the item so you still get at least 1.

Missions that call for clearing the map of all objectives = guarantied corpse retrieval, special item drop and can still use the corpse autopsy to build a SECOND copy of the special item.

@Ypmanji... the Frost Scale Vest is designed in that the it is a IED. Like you strapping an explosive device to yourself. It is a Grenade so to speak. So abilities like volatile mix would react to it in this way. Not much i really can do with that. Just have to make sure its equipped to a soldier that does not have abilities that alter grenades.

just a best of both worlds and more options for the player. If its a mission where you get the drops adn dont really want a second item of that kind, you can sell the corpse off for some needed cash. If you are on a mission that you have to extract from, and you dont get the loot, you can at least do the autopsy to get the items. So either way youre still getting at least 1. But in the case that you really like the items and would like another, you can get up to 2 of each. Just overall more options for the player to do what they feel is better for them.

Not that I am complaining about additional loot, but I am curious: Why did you decide to let the autopsies grant the items a second time instead of just scrapping the item drop and keeping the items unique? Anyway, this is a great mod, thank you!

A polite heads up. My Skirmisher rolled volatile mix in the training centre which I took and it would proc when using the frost scale vest causing him to take damage and not freeze enemies. It's such a rare combination it might not be worth fixing but thought I'd mention it.

I got a mode that greatly increases the chance of having a sitrip on missions and people claim int he comments that it helps your mod as well, so im starting a new game to test it out ^_^
