Original AoK/AoC modding community + modding tools used
Hi guys, just wanted to see if you are aware of the original AoK/AoC modding community that's been around for over a decade-

http://aok.heavengames.com/

And here's a link to their scenario design and modding community-

http://aok.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=t&fn=4

There's quite a few community developed modding tools that might possibly come in handy for AoE2HD modders/scenario designers, and I thought I might share them with you guys if you are unaware of their existence (all credits go to the respective creators):

Turtle Pack, a game data editing software package of AOE1, AOE2 and Star Wars, was called SLP Editor before.

it includes 3 tools, as follow:

DRS Editor -- can be used for modifying the game data file
SLP Editor --can be used for modifying the game images
Animation Preview --can be used to do visual evaluating specially for SLP images

Here's a very popular Tales of Middle Earth mod for you guys to showcase some of the amazing work the community has done:

EDIT: One more useful file- here is a list of SLPs that is VERY useful. It defines each SLP in word format (i.e. you can use CTRL+F to find different units/buildings/terrain, etc.)!

Want to edit some technology trees within new nations.
As example, Slavs.
Okey, any schooler in Europe know, that they had a unique unit "strelec" (like a musketeer, but with muskeet AND short alebarda). Okay, okay, one uniq unit to one nations, but, hell, why there are no hand cannoneers?!
As well as Keeps.
Bracelet.
Bomardas (yeap, russian and ukrainian uses bombardas for ages, they learn this from their Byzanties friends... in any war they melted down their's coppers bells from churchs and after any war they again melted down bomrdas to bells!).
And so on ;)

All these tools can be and are used for HD as well. They just enable you to edit the games files which didn't change with the HD version.

Do you know if there are currently any SLP editors that work with HD's 32-bit graphics?

No there aren't and I don't know if AoE would be able to use them even if there were some.

Think HiddenPath/Skylabs said they would have to redo the whole graphic system to use 32 bit graphics in AoE. And didn't do so for they don't have the 3D modells for units and buildings anymore. So they would have to redo all of them too...

I don't know if anyone's watching this thread but I was wondering how to Genied to work for Age of Empires 1 and the ROR exspansion. I can edit the file easily enough but when I start the game none of my changes are there, yet when I open up the file again my changes have been saved.
