Terraria Origins

Description
Terraria Origins is a content mod that adds new ways of playing Terraria with content designed and balanced around the vanilla game. It is full of many alternative playstyles to complement the base game for you to enjoy. More content is planned in the future. You can see our completion list for what we have planned next: https://github.com/Tyfyter/Origins/blob/master/completionList.txt .

Origins is currently in its Open Beta version, still including 1055 items, 148 NPCs, 269 tiles, 6 biomes and 5 bosses.
Additionally, there is a new explosive-themed Demolitionist class that has content throughout the entire game and is balanced with the other classes.

Origins' content adds alternatives for nearly all areas of gameplay reinforced by its two new world evils: the Defiled Wastelands and Riven Hive. The Corruption and Crimson also have content added to make them melee and ranger-focused respectively while the Defiled is magic-focused and Riven being summoner-focused. It will be hard to not find something new and fun in Origins, even in its current Beta state.

This mod does not include the music tracks composed for each of the biomes and bosses, but it still has the unique sound effects for some of the content. The music can be found from the Music Mod here: https://s.team/sf/3476640589
There is a configuration option to toggle between Volumes of the soundtrack.
Both Volumes 1 and 2 can be found on their respective SoundCloud playlists below.

Volume II: https://on.soundcloud.com/2bAEyAFQwV7XM8Me8

Do you lose a significant amount of FPS by enabling just one when compared to not having either enabled?
Jun 25 @ 11:06pm
Yeah, I do. The high FPS mod makes it a bit less noticeable by smoothing things out, but in either case there's significant stuttering with it and calamity installed and a notable performance hit/worsening of screen tearing. I tested the FPS support mod as I wasn't sure if it was a vsync issue or similar, and because I wanted to see if the pattern repeated elsewhere so I'm not accidentally giving you guys an issue that's entirely on my end haha

The high FPS support mod cannot offer the feature advertised in its name, as there are no ticks between frames to be rendering, do you experience the issue without it?
Jun 25 @ 6:02pm
I went over some recordings in slow-motion and the visible contributor without any additional mods seems to be a severe increase in screen tearing. Strangely, even with the high fps support mod installed (which helps a bit), the game remains far more stuttery with origins installed alongside calamity. This makes me think there's probably something with origins causing inconsistent frame times, hence the overall lower FPS and much, much more pronounced tearing on some specific frames.

I'm unsure how much origins hooks various parts of the rendering/adds onto it, but it also does seem to have a bit more stuttering even without calamity that doesn't really line up with the practical performance impact one mod of its size should passively cause. I think calamity just makes it much more noticeable for some reason? I'm really not sure.

Hmm, sounds like it's the latter, then, at least if we make the very reasonable and almost certainly true assumption that Calamity fixed its excessive asset requesting from a long time ago

I'm looking into it right now - I've modded before and don't exactly want to just dump a nonspecific vague thing on you, so I'll do what testing I can and maybe see if I can find a fix. Client log and tmodloader console are largely devoid of errors, though, and lack any repeating ones at runtime.

It's possible that your fps loss is because of some sort of error occurring repeatedly, in which case your log could help me identify the issue

It's also possible that some features are interacting in unintended ways, which would be much more complicated to fix

Heya, I'd like to add to this. I'm getting about a halving in overall frame rate when playing with calamity, and am currently struggling to narrow things down. You've done a phenomenal job with this mod and it's really a bummer that I currently can't play it due to performance interactions. I'll poke around to see what I can do.

@Schizoidlist2 Is Quality of Terraria among your QoL mods? That one caused a large FPS drop for me.

QoL mods are not insignificant, many are actually more likely to cause compatibility issues than content mods.
