@Taoron The names of places are generated by the civ that discovers it. Though the landform is N. America, it is still a regular map script underneath. E.g. "continents" will be based on map size rather than designating the entire map as N. America). This is for balance.
Taoron Mar 24, 2022 @ 5:48pm
Are the location names auto-generated? The Great Lakes are on the West Coast on the map I am playing right now and it's a little odd.
blkbutterfly  [author] Mar 3, 2022 @ 2:14am
@ishamelthedonkey Subscribe to the mod. In the game menu: Additional Content -> make sure the mod is enabled. Then when you create a new game select the North America map.
ishamelthedonkey Mar 2, 2022 @ 6:56pm
how do you play this map
blkbutterfly  [author] Oct 16, 2021 @ 2:42am
@Kiddrangon You don't need Lua to transcribe a map, just know how to use GIMP or graphics prog. If you transcribe a map I can help you with the lua.
Kiddrangon Oct 15, 2021 @ 3:04pm
I didn't realize that was the Earth since the layout is so different then normal maps.
And I have barely to close to no knowledge of Lua so I can't make it. But thanks!
blkbutterfly  [author] Oct 15, 2021 @ 7:45am
@Kiddrangon There is actually a "scrambled" earth map -> https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1201247503 (I am in the process of updating the radial maps FYI).

Due to commitment issues I won't be producing any more maps for Civ VI (and cos now I play HUMANKIND) But I have a guide for how to make your own -> https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1246791576
Kiddrangon Oct 14, 2021 @ 8:37am
Hi Author, can I commission two more of these map scripts? Japan and maybe the eastern side of China/Korean area? and just the full Earth?
blkbutterfly  [author] Dec 24, 2020 @ 1:21am
@PastObito TSL Coming soon. I'm just updating the map for GS+NFP.
Fancyson Mar 12, 2018 @ 7:42pm
you should have a tsl for poundmaker, roosevelt and the aztecs. Maybe france in canada idk just an option
blkbutterfly  [author] Mar 9, 2018 @ 12:27pm
@LeCaptain TSL support (albeit alpha/beta) is incoming for some of these maps now that there are more civs.

(I will however stick to TSLs for the leader's cap. city. O/w it's more than a map. If you'd like to play a North America with europeans try the scenario Colonization of the New World. It has Spain, France and England)
LeCaptain Mar 9, 2018 @ 12:11pm
please add to this map the real start positions for all important Civ's (USA, Indian, Aztecs, England, France, Spain etc.), city states with real names (for example Toronto, Port Royale, Anchorage, Panama etc.) and maybe a system that all new cities have automatically the real name of a city on this location on the map ... than this map is perfect to play (and if you transfer on your other maps ... they will be perfect as well)
Fancyson Feb 18, 2018 @ 4:29pm
What it does is change the scrambled north america into just north america. Then it wouldnt load lol
blkbutterfly  [author] Feb 18, 2018 @ 2:51pm
@PastObito Oh yeah that's a big mod pack. It's no surprise it causes a conflict :steammocking:
blkbutterfly  [author] Feb 18, 2018 @ 4:46am
@PastObito Let me know which mod interferes and I can mark it as a block.
Fancyson Feb 17, 2018 @ 11:59pm
actually i believe the another map packs mod interferes with it
Fancyson Feb 16, 2018 @ 11:31pm
im on R&F
blkbutterfly  [author] Feb 15, 2018 @ 8:48pm
@PastObito Are you on R&F? Or base game?

Quite a few people have been experiencing this bug (in general) -> https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/workaround-when-returning-to-main-menu-with-r-f-and-some-mods.26701/
Fancyson Feb 14, 2018 @ 9:16pm
i did its still doing the same thing
blkbutterfly  [author] Feb 14, 2018 @ 4:51am
@PastObito For a second I thought the R&F patch shipped yesterday broke my maps! :steammocking:

Thankfully not. Maybe your mods are out of sync post patch? Or there is a mod conflict. Google how to clear your mod cache.
Fancyson Feb 14, 2018 @ 3:26am
its not letting me start, it just keeps resetting to the main menu
MEmeist Jan 2, 2018 @ 3:09pm
Thank you! gonnastart playing the pacific ocean map!!
blkbutterfly  [author] Dec 29, 2017 @ 3:17pm
@Rocky Try United Nations Earth but your will need a v. powerful computer → http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1201247503
Rocky Dec 29, 2017 @ 2:14pm
Im new to the game, but would it be possible to make a larger scale map with all the continents together?
blkbutterfly  [author] Dec 15, 2017 @ 1:37pm
@"dat BOI HAZ memes" So i've started a South Pacific ocean map FYI

Don't hold your breath cos it's not gonna be playable until there is a proper fix for the start locations bug. It might help modders/devs with their start location fixes :steammocking:
MEmeist Nov 30, 2017 @ 12:25am
could you add a scrambled pacific Ocean?
blkbutterfly  [author] Nov 13, 2017 @ 3:21pm
@Tarassoff Did you see Scrambled Caribbean? → https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1177955292
blkbutterfly  [author] Oct 1, 2017 @ 6:13am
@Gray Nope. Just have Scrambled North America mod enabled from Additional Content. Open WorldBuilder and click New Map. Choose the map and large size. Go! :steamhappy:
Gray Oct 1, 2017 @ 3:22am
@-DI- Blkbutterfly how do you choose Scrambled North America in the Worldbuilder ? Do oyu have to drag it from a certain file to another and save before?
Troll4Hire Aug 4, 2017 @ 5:00am
i'd love to, but my new job is quite far away from the place i live, the extra 2h in the morning and 2h in the evening is very tiring. i haven't been able to try out noobia the new patch yet either. :S
blkbutterfly  [author] Jul 28, 2017 @ 8:08pm
@Troll4Hire Actually if you wanted to do this yourself it's pretty easy now. The WorldBuilder (Additional Content → WolrdBuilder) allows to start with a map. Just choose Scrambled North America.

Then place your start locations for the civs you want. Play the map using the mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=876864462

:steamhappy:
Troll4Hire Jul 9, 2017 @ 5:41am
It may be far-fetched but you could put china on the map, since during the construction of the first transcontinental railroad was built by significant amount of chinese workforce. :D But i agree. You could throw in Itzcoatl the 2nd aztec leader as some sort of substitude for native population tho.
blkbutterfly  [author] Jul 9, 2017 @ 4:39am
@Troll4Hire Well, I'd be happy to collaborate on a forked TSL map of N. America if there are any volunteers.

FYI there are still so few native/indegenous civs in the Workshop. No Iraquios, no Shoshone, no Maya, no Inca. Not even The Zulu :steamsad:
Troll4Hire Jul 8, 2017 @ 11:16pm
Well, you could throw Russia into Alaska any time, at some point they owned that chunk of land. French can start in French Lousiana, so you can just throw them in the middle. They would be competing for territory with Spain or the Aztecs, while Murica can have the place of the original 13 colonies. The Brits, representing British Canada could start north from there, maybe Hudson Bay or something. As for an exact location for the Spanish, well... you can put Spain whereever you like, just leave some room for Montezuma. And at this point the only thing we miss are natives, with one or two players starting on the east coast it could be balanced out. Perhaps you can reserve that position for non-american civs, or something.
blkbutterfly  [author] Jul 8, 2017 @ 7:33pm
@thedestin388 IDK if a TSL N. America would be balanced. Maybe a TSL Europe but there are already many Europe and Med. maps out there (YnAMP pack, etc)
Koldonn Jul 8, 2017 @ 4:45pm
is tsl possible?
Troll4Hire Jun 21, 2017 @ 10:42pm
awesome. 8) keep us informed. :)
blkbutterfly  [author] Jun 21, 2017 @ 3:20pm
@Troll4Hire I have. Also I tried civfanatics so hopefully soon we'll have a solution.
Troll4Hire Jun 18, 2017 @ 10:24am
Maybe you should get in touch with HandyVac, he managed to solve this, his scrambled UK works in multiplayer. :)
blkbutterfly  [author] Jun 18, 2017 @ 9:28am
@Troll4Hire Yeah. Same with Scrambled Australia. I have no idea why. Soz :steamsad:
Troll4Hire Jun 18, 2017 @ 9:12am
Another question - we just tried to host a multiplayer version of this map, but the game kept re-setting it to Pangea after creating the room. (I was playing it on only 1 pc before, in hotseat with my brother.) Have you ever encountered anything like that before? I think the mod won't even list itself as used content in the game summary.
blkbutterfly  [author] Jun 18, 2017 @ 9:03am
@Troll4Hire Yeah, reducing the number of players works too. I didn't fix the size cos it gives players more flexibility.

FYI This is the hardest of my scrambled maps cos plains/grassland forests are the most balanced tiles (compared to tundra, desert, or rainforest).
Troll4Hire Jun 18, 2017 @ 8:54am
Hi, i've looked into it, I reducd the number of city states slightly (by two) on a small sized version of this map, and it's running excellently. :) I assume some of them were way too close and they kept bothering each other / some other AI, and that caused the issue. Thanks again! :)
blkbutterfly  [author] Jun 15, 2017 @ 10:23am
@Troll4Hire I had simiar experience on v.large maps like Azimuthal Earth.

FYI the mapscript plays no function after you start playing. It generates the map. Then it's not used again :steamhappy:

For AI turn-lag: Try Win 10 Game Mode.
Troll4Hire Jun 15, 2017 @ 7:40am
looks absolutely neat, but for some reason the processing of ai turns is significantly slower than on other maps. i suggest you take a look at that, since there is no way in hell that people are going to sit through an entire game if mid-late game turn processing will take 30-40+ seconds / turn on an avg machine. and before anyone asks, i do not run 8 and a half other mods, i do not download porn or have 25 different trojans and viruses chewing themselves through my hard drive. A similar sized and structured map (internally randomized UK and Normandy) runs absolutely great tho.
blkbutterfly  [author] Jun 1, 2017 @ 6:52am
@DiFienze Sure. When I get back from holiday
