Was considering the workaround of unsub'ing from this temporarially, and manually "installing" the pack into the Mods dir in appdata to get around the broken save issue.
I really hate to think I lost 10 hours of progress because I chose Epic speed to savor each era's changes.
But I kind of suspect that under the way Steam works now you would have to update to be able to even play the game. The best solution seems to be that I just won't update that frequently. Unfortunately everything these days needs to be part of the cloud and connected to a server to eve play the game. Civ VI doesn't even have an offline mode it seems.
TLDR; set your steam to update manually while you have a long game in progress!
Does this mean every Wednesday I'll have to start over, I can't finish my current games? Is there anyway we can have access to the older version to finish games?
