For those interested, I've made the following, which is updated to 1.6 and supports Odyssey and Vanilla Animals Expanded, and Regrowth Prehistoric Animals (though that hasn't been updated to 1.6).
More Milkable and Shearable Animals

Balance seems pretty good. Thanks for the mod.
Mlie Jul 22 @ 1:42am
Since this mod has been reported working in 1.6 I added it to the No Version Warning-mod

The mod still works in 1.6! The only thing that needs updating is the version number, which I'll do whenever I can. :steamthumbsup:
SaltyStoryteller Jul 13 @ 8:28am
I miss making sheep cheese :( With wool and milk they were basically the most valuable animal I could have and saved my mutton multiple times.
Nebulos Jul 11 @ 8:01pm
Most important mod ever, needs 1.6 (muffalo used to always be milkable) :wololo:
BigGovernment Jun 1 @ 4:54am
@theauditor you can milk anything with nipples, Greg
TheAuditor Dec 19, 2024 @ 6:50pm

BOBACONLIVES!  [author] Aug 26, 2024 @ 12:34pm
Updated mod to Rimworld Version 1.5. :steamthumbsup:
@Fishkeeper01
I tested and did not experience this issue.
@SpaceWeasel
I tested and did not experience this bug, but that is very funny hahaha. :lunar2019laughingpig:

Heads up, this mod breaks the Information button (the 'i' on the pawn infobox).
Hebrux Apr 14, 2024 @ 3:11pm
Seems to work with 1.5 even though it's not updated yet
Hebrux Apr 13, 2024 @ 10:12am

prince.mandor Apr 11, 2024 @ 4:02am
Thank you for great mod!
Can you make or recommend mod for making camels and yaks shearable?

This Mod make this more seneseable
Dr Jimothy Mar 10, 2024 @ 12:30pm
@SpaceWeasel
That's not milk.
EnderNyktos Feb 16, 2024 @ 1:33pm
Support for Megafauna or Vanilla Expanded Animals?
SpaceWeasel Feb 7, 2024 @ 8:58am
Why does the male animals produce milk too?
david.stewart Jan 14, 2024 @ 2:02pm
I feel like camels should go on the list, camel milk being a traditional staple of desert nomads.
Myrrhb Jun 27, 2023 @ 7:25am
I have the same question as Sigourney. Milking gazelles is a bit much IMO. If we could select for ourselves in the settings, that would be amazing - but I understand if that's not possible.
Sigourney Weaver in Alien4 Jun 6, 2023 @ 3:53am
Hey, is it possible to exclude some animals? I want my bisons to produce milk but not my horses.
BOBACONLIVES!  [author] Jan 10, 2023 @ 2:49am
@Mylothris
Added new image with milk spreadsheet. I also want to thank Tynan for providing in-game developer tools that generate very useful spreadsheets for things like animals. :steamthumbsup:
Mylothris Dec 31, 2022 @ 5:30am
How much milk do the animals produce?
BOBACONLIVES!  [author] Nov 23, 2022 @ 2:33am
@guegui
thrumbo eggs bigger than your torso

Guilla Nov 19, 2022 @ 5:50pm
Is there a version of this but for eggs (more species laying unfertilized eggs would be good to me

Rimworld Version 1.4 Update [drive.google.com]
Updated for 1.4, I also rewrote the code for versions 1.1 to 1.4 to use the new and improved PatchOperationConditionals instead of sequences. So the mod supports Rimworld versions 1.0 to 1.4+
BOBACONLIVES!  [author] Oct 29, 2022 @ 3:48pm
@Archimedes
Unusual bug, I couldn't reproduce it. Goats are vanilla animals, this mod doesn't effect them and I would guess Vanilla Expanded Animals doesn't effect them either. Depending on how many mods you're running, my only uneducated guess is other mods having unusual interactions with each other.
Archimedes Oct 29, 2022 @ 11:02am
In question*
Archimedes Oct 29, 2022 @ 10:42am
Cannot milk me goats in 1.4. Am running the vanilla expanded animals, but the animals in quests are mere goats. Tried running it in the bottom load order. Any guesses why it won't work?

The milk fullness is at 100%, cannot right click it to milk via handler.
[KGAB]Deathsservant Oct 26, 2022 @ 1:11pm
I already did. Must be a mod conflict then, my bad!
BOBACONLIVES!  [author] Oct 26, 2022 @ 1:08pm
@[KGAB]Deathsservant
Just tested it and it works with 1.4 + Biotech and all other dlcs. Try placing this mod at the bottom of your load order, another mod might be overwriting it.
[KGAB]Deathsservant Oct 26, 2022 @ 5:29am
@BOBACONLIVES!
I can confirm it does not work with 1.4 anymore. Tynan seems to have put his hands on our udders. Uuuh.
BOBACONLIVES!  [author] Oct 13, 2022 @ 6:33pm
@Bad Pipe
Do yer tamed female animals still have a milk progress % when ya click on 'em? This mod's code is very simple and should work forever unless Tynan decided to put his hands on your animal's udders and change how the milk code is read or written.
Bad Pipe Oct 11, 2022 @ 7:05pm
is 1.4 safe with this?
Wacky Oct 6, 2022 @ 8:33am
Milkable chicken pls?
patashnik Jul 16, 2022 @ 4:31pm
@Thundercraft ...As for discrete milk items for different species (or more broadly types of species - like cattle/poultry - while I think it's out of the scope of this mod as it stands, it'd make for a decent update/fork, especially if it also got a basic config menu to tweak. I'd put my money where my mouth is if I could mod this game or had the time to learn how to.

IMHO, the rule of thumb when it comes to mods and balance is if the advantages new features/whatever give the player are proportionate to the cost/effort/disadvantages. An example of this is adding nuclear power to the game and having to face the risk of meltdowns/other random events or disposing of nuclear waste. That said, balance is partly a matter of personal preference, like players who want a more challenging game at any cost.

Didn't mean to write an essay here but there you go...
patashnik Jul 16, 2022 @ 4:30pm
Good example of a minor mod that enhances gameplay. Thanks for this.

@Thundercraft bit late for a reply but whatever - I can't say for sure how well balanced milk-able thrumbos would be as I don't bother with them, but unless their horns/hides in combination with efficient farming methods are already overly profitable (as with drugs/organs), having them provide milk wouldn't be too bad. Guess it'd encourage ambitious ranchers to bother breeding them instead of mowing them down for horns/hides. [1/2]
MrMcgee May 14, 2022 @ 4:30pm
@Elkstone Bo is the creators name - hence "Bo's Milkable Animals". Thank you for the amazing mod!
Elkstone May 7, 2022 @ 5:02am
"Milkable animals" would be a better name for this
LupusIntus Feb 9, 2022 @ 7:42pm
Thank you for this mod! While I respect the creator's attempt at "balance", I find it ridiculous how few real-world animals can be milked (and sheared) in Rimworld, especially with so many great herding/farming options in Ideology.
Thundercraft Aug 27, 2021 @ 1:51pm
BTW: I'm wondering how other players feel about making Thrumbo milkable or, perhaps, shearable for wool. Should that be considered cheesy (i.e., cheaty or out of place)? Well, they're the hardest animal in the game to tame. Also, they consume enormous amounts of food and are all around difficult and expensive to keep around. So would it really be "unbalanced" to have the Thrumbo give back to your colony in some small way? It's not like a colony could afford to have a large heard of them, anyway, even ignoring how rare they are.
Thundercraft Aug 27, 2021 @ 1:49pm
What Spoopy Lamp said.
There needs to me more incentive to milk more than one kind of animal. Otherwise, what's the point? Also, I'd think that different types of milk would have a different cost/value when bought/sold as well as a different nutrition value. In real life, the milk from different animals not only tastes different, but the calorific value and fat content can differ considerably.
Spoopy Lamp Aug 12, 2021 @ 1:16pm
could you add possibly different types of milk for these animals. It would be nice if in the mod there was a representation of the differences between a fawn's milk and that of an ibex or alpaca. It would also give a player more reason to tame varieties of different animals instead of just one species.
Quilboar Jul 21, 2021 @ 2:50pm
any way to disable certain animals? mainly just want muffalo and ewe milk back
Brian May 10, 2021 @ 7:55pm
