We can only Set a value, to do what u want needs a script to send commands to the API. Im not a scripter sorry. If someone can make scripts for this mod id be happy to add it and update the mod :).

could you give it a slider that allows you to set the drain speed of a powersink that way we can fine tune it to bring down an installation/station/ship without running into the grid total issue

same dynamic applies.
if the grid total power potential is less than the sink it wont drain.

Just keep in mind that since this mod was made several years ago grids don't completely shut-down when overloaded.

So the mod won't work as well as it used to, if you have a 300MW reactor and try to use this powersink nothing will happen as there isn't 1gw to drain in the first place and for example refineries will keep working.
However if there's 3x 300mw reactors now this will drain 1000mw and only 200mw will be available on the grid and some things will shut-down such as thrusters barely working or some refineries going off-line.

I don't think this mod is working anymore. I tried it a few days ago but didn't drain any power. I added 16 of them and no effect :-(

I think keen killed the original purpose of this because you can now see block icons in the ship terminal. But you can still drain power if you connect to the other ship. Here is how I think it should work:

1. Put Power Drains in your own ship that has connector.

2. Turn off the Power Drains so you can fly the ship.

3. Find a base/ship that you can trade with.

4. Connect to it and turn on your Power Drains.

With this you can even turn off other person's safe zone block by stealing the power it needs :D

This would be funny to use in PVP in conjunction with the Thermal Mechanics mod: This mod causes the reactors of an enemy ship to pump out power, then Thermal Mechanics causes it to overheat and begin crumbling... Add the Grid Integrity mod for extra kaboom!

Eh well...that's the worst part about SE; people can assign you ♥♥♥♥ you don't want; Luckily after building /every/ major ship - I make a point of grouping the lights, doors, etc into seperate groups; even if they do assign it the fact is all you have to do is filter the group and it'll show up like a sore thumb :p

Could you use it to stress test your ship? Like setting it to drain X amout of W to simulate all refinedies and assemblers working simultaneously in creative.

This would probably be a good tactic in case of an enemy takeover of your ship. Cripple the ship without physically damaging it.

LoL ok, i dont use rotors much and only recently iv used piston a little. in my 3000 hours i have rarely seen builds that use them do anything other than destroy everything arround them.

Rotors have a bug that occasionaly the rotors will act like they are moving the titanic, and will suck more power when used

I have an idea how about one that stops the ships ability to move so it locks up the gyroscopes and shuts off thrusters

yeah, but same with the hacking computers mod to. everyone knows its there but it still adds to the tactics of the game play :)
