if u want the helicopter designation to matter, just use a mod i read about, it adds in engines of prop planes and rotor blades for helicopters

Updated with Whip's Sequencer Script. For nice rocket spam at the press of one button.

Jd I would like to ask about some future designs and have sent you a friend request so we can discuss if you don't mind that is??
VANGUARD_CΘDΞK Dec 12, 2016 @ 3:13pm
@dastormdragon he went for a modless build
DSD Dec 12, 2016 @ 8:54am
You can build non-VTOLs with an aerodynamics mod!
Aarni501 Dec 12, 2016 @ 8:34am
When you open the blueprint menu (F10) and select the Osprey, you need then click CTRL+V (or ALT+V, I don't remember) to paste it.

ok, nice, now... how do I spawn it... it wont spawn XD
JD.Horx  [author] Dec 10, 2016 @ 8:46pm
Thanks for the comments, and yes I admit the designation "attack helicopter" is not right at all, but I when I had named something "VTOL" random guys would come round the corner yellingl at me "anything you build in SE that can fly is a VTOL so dont write it here, hurr durr!"

And well, in this layout the Osprey IS quite well armed, but even now like it is it can lift a Puma at about 26 metric tons and transport it anywhere inside atmosphere. So I didnt say it is a logistic vehicle, just stated what it can do.

Part 2 of 2
You couldn't really call it a legitimate logistical support vehicle- while it has the ability to carry cargo or vehicles, they'd have to be smaller and lighter. Sure, it might have the POWER to carry them, but it'd consume a great deal of that power to carry heavier stuff- thus, its carrying ability is more of a side factor, and shouldn't really be a major part of its job description- more of a plus, a bonus, than a major advantage.

If modified, however, this Osprey could feature its logistical support much more if it has a little less focus on armor or armament, and had its carry-all ability functioning with a cargo port- if it could tap into the fuel or ammunition its carrying, it could run farther, longer, and still provide support- and that IS a major advantage.

Just some criticism and friendly suggestions, mate! Good work, I love the design.

Part 1 of 2
Something to consider:
A helicopter is an aircraft that utilizes spinning blades to produce lift and/or thrust. However, this is limited: You wouldn't call a dual-rotor Osprey- the V44, which you might have had a little inspiration from- a helicopter, even though it uses spinning blades.

This has NOTHING like a helicopter's features- indeed, it's not even designed like one.

This would be best classed as an "VTOL Gunship," simply because of its weight/size, its armament (or capacity for it), and because it utilizes jet engines in a notably hovercraft form. VTOL- Vertical Take-Off and Landing. Gunship- heavy armament, larger size.

This ship looks so bad ass in the dev update with the new model changes
Master Anon Dec 10, 2016 @ 5:50pm
cargo, huh? How much can it lift?
BeanSlinger419 Dec 10, 2016 @ 4:05pm
its a hybird actully look at has ATMO and ION Thrusters
JD.Horx  [author] Dec 10, 2016 @ 2:44pm
updated a few things like the text panel issue.
starfury Dec 10, 2016 @ 12:26pm
@ Flying Christmas, ur right!!! it does look like a hybrid of the 2 ships!!!!
starfury Dec 10, 2016 @ 12:25pm
the ion thrusters work fine in atmo always have, just took extra power to maintain altitude in the past. for power needs ive always like Azmuth's reactors, especially his fusion reactors. the amount of power they put out is far greater and the same physical size as the vanilla reactors
Redacted Dec 10, 2016 @ 7:34am
I thought ion drives were terrible inside atmosphere? Did they change that? I hven't used them in forever.
JD.Horx  [author] Dec 10, 2016 @ 6:12am
In fact it has been inspired by the Orca from C&C 3 Tyberium something something.
FlyingOktober Dec 10, 2016 @ 6:02am
looks like a mix between the hawk super unit from halo wars and the mosquito (TR) from planetside 2
JD.Horx  [author] Dec 9, 2016 @ 8:11pm
Thanks for the new screenshots!
Guardsman Dec 9, 2016 @ 7:33pm
wow this looks really good nice job m8
its really ... impressive
Teamw0rk Dec 9, 2016 @ 2:12pm
was just playing with it.. and it looks absolutly amazing!
JD.Horx  [author] Dec 9, 2016 @ 1:22pm
Agreed, though I'm not able to load the newest update because I have no internet yet. But SOON...
Teamw0rk Dec 9, 2016 @ 11:23am
Everyone needs to do new screenshots for their vanilla ships. :D
Colonel Sanders Dec 9, 2016 @ 4:47am
thanks guys!
:steamhappy:
MrEvan312 Dec 9, 2016 @ 3:23am
This inability to paste in bp's made in dev into stable has persisted for a very long time. The devs supposedly fixed it last week, but no such luck. I don't know why more stuff isn't made in stable.
JD.Horx  [author] Dec 9, 2016 @ 2:52am
You can use development branch of the game. It is available in Settings>Beta program. But I didn't know the game would even freak out with blueprints from different branches, what a mess.
Colonel Sanders Dec 9, 2016 @ 1:05am
it wont let me paste this it says blueprint made in development How do I fix this
JD.Horx  [author] Dec 8, 2016 @ 6:02pm
Nö it's fine, I'm glad to hear you like them! :)
And yes, lack of weapons is permanently present for us vanilla builders. :-/
MrEvan312 Dec 8, 2016 @ 11:10am
Is it bad that your builds are my go-to paste-in target practice? XD I love just about all of them, you really can nail vanilla builds, unlike me, I'm trying to go modless but there's little fun in it, at least without weapons mods.
JD.Horx  [author] Dec 7, 2016 @ 1:03pm
Thanks for the comments, I didn't add a dorsal connector because most builds don't need it and it distorts the optical impression of the ship in my eyes. But it can be installed without any further modifications other than removing armor.
Webmind 1 Dec 7, 2016 @ 11:45am
A dorsal connector on the large flat area behind the cockpit would be a welcome addition to the workshop blueprint..
Jackie Dec 6, 2016 @ 12:34pm
How do you come up with these designs? Like just started uploading to the workshop but my stuff is crap.
