fun map

Semi-blindrun (at least 4 years since I've played, took a break starting from late 2019)

Not a very good "blind" run, to be honest. Remembered both key tricks this puzzle employs and played very similar variations on this puzzle made by K7 Avenger here and here during my new playthroughs of every map in my queue. So it was quite easy for me this time around, but took me a couple hours before.

As I said previously, absolutely fantastic chamber. Maybe not quite as hard as the desc makes it out to be, but certainly a challenge.

Difficulty: 7/10
Design: 10/10
Enjoyed: 9/10

This one is a real thinker!

It was fun to solve it bit by bit. I felt like I was making progress with each little discovery.

The name suits the map well. When I was moving the cube up on the platform, it kinda felt like Frankenstein moving his monster up to the lightning area.

MUWAHAHAHA

I've been going back through the Mevious test chambers and can't believe I found one I had not done before! What a treat! It was like finding an extra present hidden under the tree at Christmas
CoffeeCoder Apr 5, 2022 @ 5:15am
I didnt think it was that hard, some of your others are harder, I would say this is medium-hard. Fun one tho!
Klaatu Dec 19, 2021 @ 4:48pm
Great!
Docentti Nov 4, 2021 @ 1:34pm
Holy smokes was this a great map, one of the best I've ever played! I was completely baffled at the beginning and had no idea what to do. Then, piece by piece it all came together perfectly. I am in awe!

The best puzzle I've ever played (10/10 looks) (10/10 game play) (10/10 my brain hurty a little)
Spider_Dawg Oct 20, 2020 @ 1:45pm
Excellent puzzle, just the right amount of difficulty for my tastes, although I had already played K7 Avenger's version (Metro) so it would have taken me longer if I didn't already have an idea of what to do. Still a challenge, and an enjoyable one at that.

Great puzzle! Needed some good planning ahead to get the tasks in the correct sequence. Was a lot of running around at first to explore the map, and after that it was a great challenge! Thx!

Amazing. Hardest Portal puzzle I've ever solved.
Databot1 May 26, 2020 @ 6:40am
Crazy good, as usual!
bullfrog May 19, 2020 @ 8:11am
Still a great puzzle and certainly a lot easier the second time round, even with a 2.5 year gap!
polaczeniezresetowane Apr 26, 2020 @ 2:09pm
Quite easy but rly pleasurefull map, pretty well thought out.
United Stealth Dec 25, 2019 @ 6:13am
So many things to do... Really a puzzle to figure out what to do first, then figure out how to do it. Really great map. Only later I saw it was Mevious who created it, then I wasn't surprised. He is really the best :)
Calwin Sep 7, 2019 @ 4:18am
This must be the best puzzle map I ever played. I love the fact that once u figure out how to do it, it is not stressful and frustrating to put theory into practice. The time limits are more than enough to get what needs to be done done. The map is very well thought out and I have never seen anything quite like it, very creative! A big brain map : )
c4shurik Aug 14, 2019 @ 10:19am
omg this is awsome!
PluMGMK Jul 14, 2019 @ 6:12am
It's just not the same without the rockets smashing things and the emotional blackmail with Cindy, is it? :P Great re-imagining though!
Ali Jul 3, 2019 @ 3:46pm
nice map solved in 20 minutes
Mikeastro Apr 21, 2019 @ 12:13pm
I indeed wouldn't call this map ''very hard'', but it's a nice puzzle nonetheless. Thumbs up
tapmage Nov 19, 2018 @ 4:15pm
Good puzzle. Wonder if I'm getting better solving em because it only took me around 30 min or so. It used to take me over an hour probably, assuming I could solve a puzzle in general. It was fun though.
racknae Oct 10, 2018 @ 3:36pm
Wonderful map, very fun to solve. Not too much of a brain buster (took me about 20 minutes from start to finish) but definitely took a bit of thought and planning. Love the use of the moving platforms, and using the pistons as timers was definitely very unique.
Nobody No-One Jun 28, 2018 @ 10:41am
Very fun map. Thumbs up and favorited.
SethMT Jun 5, 2018 @ 3:21pm
Woah. That was exhausting...

Everything felt so overwhelming at first and it was difficult to even know where to begin, but then it all slowly came together bit by bit. The main challenge was working the moving platforms. I was hesitant to try any experiments out of fear of losing the sphere, so I just had to visualise it all in my head instead. Maybe you could somehow make it easier to resurrect the sphere after obtaining it once? Regardless, what a truly demanding (but excellent) puzzle!

cool!!

Your maps are an anomaly for me. I've played like 20 of them so far and on many occassions I have to check comments for hints. People say it's easy and simple bla bla and I'm lost.

Here, you yourself say this is your hardest map and people say the same in the comments, yet I did not find it to be that hard. Way easier than most of your non-hammer maps. I did not need any hints and I progressed at a reasonable pace. The whole thing took me like 20 minutes.

Amazing feel to this map though, and I loved the fact that music got more intense as you get further into the chamber.

And no quicksave :/
✪ RiVaLw0w Nov 18, 2017 @ 1:12pm
Great level took me 1h 20 min with 25h prior playtime so definitely a good puzzle. Keep up the good work
bullfrog Oct 27, 2017 @ 1:32am
Brilliant puzzle, pure genius, excellent concepts and design. It looks very complicated, but as long as you have a good look around at the start, then think things through, step by step before you try, the solution gradually unfolds. Definitely (another one of yours) added to favourites.
thompson004 Aug 19, 2017 @ 11:10am
I was confused because somehow I thought I have to use a lightbridge-portal in the middle and not just a regular one - for the lightbridge portal I would have had to use a cube (for the stairs to get up to the lightbridge), but this wouldn't work of course, since you need to take one cube with you and use one for the rail platform =)
thompson004 Aug 19, 2017 @ 11:08am
I feel so good to have finished this.

Fumbly Bumbly Apr 16, 2017 @ 11:43pm
Fantastic map. This is probably the best use of rail platforms I've ever seen. The solution is amazing. The thing I love about this map is the way you force the player to think first about what they have to do, rather than letting them experiment ideas through direct interaction. Thumbs up, it's a favourite!
gamecreator Mar 4, 2017 @ 12:25pm
LOL. I just skipped a level because I wanted something simpler. And I knew as soona s I saw Mevious's name that I went the exact opposite direction. Well, let's see how this goes....
Mr Vapour Waterhandle Jan 27, 2017 @ 6:06am
So this is the only map by you I hadn't played yet. I tried it before, but had to quit in shame and exhaustion because SOMEHOW I managed to miss the fact that one of the weighted buttons open that little sideroom for which the antline is CLEARLY RIGHT THERE. So that was 40 minutes of me trying to figure it out without that as I had written it off for later. Any future player: DO NOT DO THAT. You probably won't as again it's RIGHT THERE. So retrying this, with that out of the way, everything is relatively easy up until both cubes are retrieved, after which I say the difficulty is about medium. Again a nice puzzle, thought the solution was going to be harder to perform than it was.
portalenthusiast Dec 31, 2016 @ 12:20pm
I have come back to re-play this chamber at least half a dozen times. And it's so expertly crafted that I have to figure out how to do it all over again each time (obviously, it's easier each time - but this is a nice complex puzzle for replay value).
jandlml Dec 22, 2016 @ 8:03pm
excellent!
lapicidas Dec 13, 2016 @ 12:46am
Ingenious !! Are there similar maps like this?
Zorgot Nov 26, 2016 @ 12:50pm
This is by far the best map I've played, and I loved the little touch of increasing the music intensity as you progressed through the puzzle. The map is just so amazing, I don't even know what to say. xD
PixelPerfect Oct 23, 2016 @ 9:42am
That's my favorite puzzle you've made so far! Thumbs up and favorited!

Continued: A test to see if you're truly worthy of "Expert" status.
zigzagtenniscoe Aug 30, 2016 @ 7:49pm
Wow. This has to be one of the best maps I've played in a while. Really original look and feel to the chamber, great Hammer work. Very well put together test as well! It really trains you to look at what you don't need in the solution anymore and put that to your advantage to success. I played this one before, half and hour in and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what I was missing. Another half hour here where I actually got somewhere, so around an hour in total. Difficulty is difficult people! Not super ultra hard difficult, more of an intermediate-advanced difficult. Coming from someone with 1900+ hours on Portal, so trust me when I say this is a difficult test mainly for the experts!
Talisac Aug 19, 2016 @ 2:12am
Great map, but curiously... wasn't that hard. I remember Crawler, or even Remorse to be harder. I didn't think I had many choices and steps looked pretty obvious. But it is a really well designed puzzle with cool mecanisms, and I enjoyed my run! Blind run [www.dropbox.com]
kube Jul 1, 2016 @ 9:11am
I've consistenly come back to Resurrection as one of the hardest and one of the best custom chambers I've ever completed. The hours of brain-stretching work are worth it. Absolutely top-notch, and a must-play for any so-called-expert puzzle solver.
snowhog Jun 10, 2016 @ 2:16pm
This one really challenged me! I had to come back to it several times over many days before I got it; particularly getting the ball out of the room! Very nicely done.
