@Polykatana Please do send me the error log, I'm not getting any errors when booting it up, but I will reload and try again. I am actually working on it right now.
Polykatana Jan 23, 2021 @ 8:59am
Okay so here's the deal. I posted three comments and then I deleted them because I didn't know what I was talking about. Turns out, I didn't fix it. It still doesn't work. Something in the update went wrong. I looked at the error messages and it's having a hard time finding a bunch of files located in the... Pertam folder, I'm guessing? If you want me to send you the error log, I can. I know you just updated this this morning, so I just wanted to let you know how the mod is working, at least on my end, which is to say it isn't.

As an aside, really awesome mod when it was working. It blows other mods in the same vein out of the water, in my opinion.
Xero  [author] Dec 26, 2019 @ 3:16pm
That's probably due to having the ambient lighting turned down significantly. Once you're back in the light they are probably fine.
I don't really edit colors except for the environment, so it's possible they have some weird correlation... which isn't on me at all. I can't think of why a skin would be effected by environment colors.
Celestite Dec 26, 2019 @ 11:09am
i think i found a bug with this mod, both silver and glamour skins are much darker with this mod on
Apothicon Dec 22, 2019 @ 8:15am
oh ok thx
Xero  [author] Dec 21, 2019 @ 10:51pm
Most of those are issues w/ the games rendering. I've contacted keen and they don't want to support it because it means changing how things work in the renderer -.-
There is a standalone blue highlight on my workshop page though and a few other colors.
Apothicon Dec 21, 2019 @ 9:06am
is there a version of this that only has the blue hover outline. I dont really like the shading as it has some issues during specific circumstances such as when using a hand drill to make a super small tunnel you dont see your flashlight show up and if you are flying high in the atmosphere but still below the cloud layer on a planet during night time everything looks really bright even though on the surface its super dark.
Xero  [author] Feb 10, 2018 @ 7:55am
I am not sure if it would, especially since the update. I had thought i replied to this comment but i must of missed it sorry. I don't think it would but you're welcome to try it as a local mod if you know how. i don't have ME so :x

It looks great, though I have to ask on account of similar mods simply not existing for the game; Would this work with Medieval Engineers as well? I've been looking for ages, and the "Oh hey, it's a tiny bit darker now, I guess the sun is setting" aspect is ruining the aesthetic for me.
Xero  [author] Oct 19, 2017 @ 12:23am
Awesome! Glad you like it! thanks a ton.
Diamond Oct 17, 2017 @ 9:07pm
oh man! Love your mod! I'm adding this to my Server =D
Xero  [author] Oct 13, 2017 @ 8:56am
the eye adaptation is just in the environment.sbc itself, it's not TRUE eye adaptation, but more like a light adaptation from light to dark and vice versa. you will only see it when going from intense light to intense darkness very fast.
RedBOY Oct 13, 2017 @ 4:07am
@Xero, do you have a actual HLSL shaders to go with this, or is just an Environment.sbc mod? I was just trying it out and I couldn't get the eye adaptation tweaks to work.
Incanatus Oct 5, 2017 @ 6:28pm
You have been Awarded the SE MasterPeice Mod Medal. Good Job.
Xero  [author] Oct 2, 2017 @ 11:35pm
Screenshots updated! I've got images of the REAL scenarios you will see in-game. not just pretty pictures.
Xero  [author] Sep 18, 2017 @ 6:55am
Note: Updated mod with blue highlight and some smoother shadows. in addition to new night and day shading to have everything smoother in general.

blue highlight doesn't pulse and only has a small blue glow to have visual feedback you are selecting something.

Will update screenshots and description tonight!

Note: the combination mods are not updated, only this mod until it looks right (which is tonight).

I'm also looking into making another mod soon, but it will take a while :) stay tuned!
Severeign Jul 31, 2017 @ 1:46pm
Don't lose heart guy. This mod is the only mod I use. I'd offer to help if I wouldn't be completely useless!
Xero  [author] Jul 6, 2017 @ 9:53pm
I updated it but they tweaked a few settings and added some, so this isn't as good as it can be anymore. I'm going to have to update this as well :x
I_Die Jul 6, 2017 @ 8:11pm
Thanks for keeping at this!

I still remember when the game was dark without mods. It also didn't have planets, or have DX11 as an option. A time before DX11. That was a thing too. what a fun trip down memory lane. Still love this game!
Xero  [author] Jun 3, 2017 @ 8:52am
I have an update for this in the works, they changed how some settings work so i need to make it from scratch almost. I'm also making a 'realistic darkness' mod along with this.
Severeign Jun 3, 2017 @ 6:20am
@ Xero Hey, I have loved and advocated this mod since I discovered it, but since the de-branching it doesn't seem fully functional. I was just wondering if there were any updates planned for this, or if it has become an effort no longer worth the time? I'd be keenly interested in seeing a triumphant return to realistic lighting!
Xero  [author] Feb 21, 2017 @ 12:59am
@droidhacker The only thing I changed are emissivity of all emmisives, so they're not really 'glowing' but they still have a slight emissive to them.
Nidhoeggr Feb 20, 2017 @ 11:36am
I just want to say thanks for this great mod. Too bad Keen decided to go from a realistic darkness to this state where it is right now in vanilla.
Thanks to this mod the atmosphere of the whole game is now as it was before for a great survival experience (and lights are finally usefull again).

Big thumbs up!
Droidhacker Jan 7, 2017 @ 8:35pm
Hey I had a question for you, I know its not caused by your mod but are people having problems with lights on large grids not working until the game is reloaded? It was broken for the longest time, then started working, then is broken again. Is this caused by a different mod maybe? I really want to know because I really can't use your mod if the lights aren't going to work on people's ships/stations. Although spotlights on small ships work fine, and newly built LCD panels do not display text until the game is reloaded. These started working fine once the lights started working, maybe 3 days ago, and just today I made a new LCD panel and it wouldn't display text, and whaddya know the lights aren't working either until I reload, then I can turn them on/off change their color etc. just fine. P.S. did you fix the windows being opaque at night? I really like your mod so if it cannot be fixed I am 100% fine adding on a different mod that changes windows
Xero  [author] Jan 7, 2017 @ 9:33am
possibly another mod, if you have one before mine in the list it will over-write it. depending on the mod.
jay.jahn Jan 7, 2017 @ 9:03am
thx for getting back to me. I didnt think my sun was set to static, but i will look again. If it aint set to static what could it be or by chance is another mod causing problems?
Xero  [author] Jan 7, 2017 @ 7:29am
if it's dark ALL the time, your sun setting is set to static, meaning the time of day is infinitely whatever it starts on . I am update this soon-ish to reflect new skybox reflections on the 'ice'
i have many projects i'm working on, so it may be soon and may be later.
jay.jahn Jan 7, 2017 @ 5:55am
Xero i am using ur mod and its dark all the time. I cant change the time either. Could u tell me what i am doing wrong please. Thx Jay
Xero  [author] Jan 6, 2017 @ 1:22am
Hmm, I haven't changed anything to mess with windows/cockpits. i'll check it out though.
Droidhacker Jan 5, 2017 @ 4:46pm
ok I'll look, well even though its just a shader something you edited made windows/ cockpits opaque at night, during the day, even in dark conditions theyre fine
Xero  [author] Jan 5, 2017 @ 5:38am
I don't edit textures in this mod, this is just a shader. for window texture edits you'd have to use a window tint mod, i recommend the one by 'the witch' for dark tint no dirt.
Droidhacker Jan 4, 2017 @ 7:36pm
Did you ever update the winmdows/ cockpits on this mod? I really want to use it now that they fixed the lights not working on large grids
Droidhacker Dec 30, 2016 @ 5:45pm
The mod the way it is is great, I just am concerned that it looks very different on different pc's even with normal gamma settings, also is anyone getting crashes after removing this mod from their game?
Xero  [author] Dec 30, 2016 @ 5:23pm
Well, gamma is not something people normally adjust, I have my screen brightness 100% and on an IPS that's brighter than any basic monitor will get, so when it's dark for me, it'll be darker for you even at 100% brightness, Gamma shouldn't be messed with as it causes discoloration etc. So to experience complete darkness, I could make it ever darker, to where if you don't have a light, then you're screwed if you want to see anything.
But, total darkness was frowned upon, so i lightened it up ever so slightly where you can see the outlines of trees and such.

I'll consider making a 'total darkness' mod later.
Droidhacker Dec 30, 2016 @ 10:59am
well my concern is that players doing nothing at all are going to see the world totally differently without realizing it creating an inherent advantage
Xero  [author] Dec 30, 2016 @ 7:27am
I have an IPS monitor, so my darker blacks are darker than those using standard monitors see. i see your concern, but really that is more on players attempting to 'cheat' the darkness. this is more for immersion so, players who cheat the darkness ruin that for themselves. sorry :(
Droidhacker Dec 30, 2016 @ 7:18am
Adjusting the gamma darkened my game (I am playing on a new computer). However my younger brothers game is almost pitch black at night, is there going to be a large variation in brightness between different people on my server? A friend playing had the same effect I did origionally, it being way too light. That could give some unfair advantages. By the way once i corrected my gamma the game looks great, you have done some really good work here, its just a shame that issues on keens end are cauing this mod to give inconsistent results
Xero  [author] Dec 30, 2016 @ 5:24am
I don't believe the options are there, but i'll look and see if i can make glass more transparent. can't promise anything.
Droidhacker Dec 29, 2016 @ 2:03pm
Hey I also have the issue with glass but dont want to get a mod that removes the tint, also at night it isnt anywhere near as dark as in the screenshots above. I am playing on DX11 stable branch
Xero  [author] Sep 8, 2016 @ 12:19pm
There are glass mods for that, if you just search tinted glass you will find them, there's even one that's heavily tinted and looks great!
CombatWombat Sep 8, 2016 @ 2:57am
Love it, but could you try to make glass more transparent?
Xero  [author] Sep 7, 2016 @ 5:39am
It will work on stable when the changes from dev are moved over.
gornyakmaniac Sep 7, 2016 @ 4:31am
Good, good
Does it work well on stable branch?
