Sorry for no response earlier! Been using w no problems since then!
Sir would you mind updating the mod to 0.19? Thanks!

Have you tried using reshade or adjusting your monitor? You'd be surprised just how much this mod changes based on monitor type and settings. With reshade you can tweak this to be as dark or light as you like, or to increase contrast.
Gallonidas Jun 2, 2018 @ 10:00am
Love this mod's idea, but I can't seem to find a good balance in neither one of the two.
The Darker one is really what it should be, but this compromises the gameplay beyond what I feel enjoyable (nice asthetics tho). This Lighter one is just too bright... Is there any chance you can make this one darker (since I figured the other one may be on-point for many). If you reduce the DELTA in luminosity between this and the darker one by about 40%, it would be spot-on.
;D Mar 26, 2018 @ 2:50am
No worries, author. It's a great mod anyway. Thanks for responding and take care of yourself.

Intentional is not the word i'd use. This mod doesn't touch eclipses so they use vanilla night values. I had to remove the eclipse features an alpha or two ago. I'll try to put them back in after 1.0 releases. Currently i'm struggling to eat so I haven't had the time to devote to this outside of keeping it working.
;D Nov 27, 2017 @ 12:47pm
I had an eclipse occur in the middle of night and it got a lot brighter. Is this intentional?
EvilNecroid Nov 26, 2017 @ 2:26am
YAY!
Willowisp  [author] Nov 26, 2017 @ 2:03am
Yeah sorry about that, it should be fixed now.
xor Nov 25, 2017 @ 5:24pm
I get an error in the start up log: "Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\745800936\Defs\WeatherDefs/Weathers.xml: root element named WeatherDefs; should be named Defs"
Don't know if it's important but I thought you should know.
EvilNecroid Nov 21, 2017 @ 8:50pm
so hows the update coming along?

Willowisp  [author] Nov 19, 2017 @ 9:02am
Oh man.. Why cant he release on a friday? lol. Okay, I know about it now and will start the process. Its more than likely going to be a few days but I will TRY to get this one done tonight along with the main darkness mod. The full darkness mod comes first however.
EvilNecroid Nov 18, 2017 @ 6:08am
r u updating? i want to play :p
Willowisp  [author] Nov 14, 2017 @ 11:48am
I hear the rumblings of A18 coming out soon. Yes I will keep this mod updated; but I will also use that time to put eclipses back in and revaluate the brightness. In advance of that, if anyone has any input to the light levels currently used in this mod (this is the lighter mod keep in mind) I'd love to hear it.
Felywhyen Nov 14, 2017 @ 6:24am
exactly what i would have modded next if not available already :) Thanks for this mod.
Mr Cosmo Oct 25, 2017 @ 7:52pm
Though I do understand the Mods Motto might I add.
Mr Cosmo Oct 25, 2017 @ 7:51pm
Thanks for this Mod I was looking around for something like this which was just a tad brighter then the standard mod, just so its dark but you can see what your doing (Building, Fighting Ect.)
Willowisp  [author] Oct 24, 2017 @ 11:40am
I'm really sorry Waterkey but I just can't see myself doing that, for quite a few reasons. I can however make the A17 versions available on the forums for a limited time after A18 comes through. As I'm not actively playing Rimworld at the moment, I usually update a couple days after the release, or whenever I hear about it really, so you should have plenty of time to make preparations. This is all superflous anyhow because this mod does not bind itself to your save files meaning it can be loaded and unloaded at any time to no (non-damaging) effect on your save.
Tzeentch Oct 24, 2017 @ 4:13am
Please could you seperate this mod for A17 and A18, I don't want screw up my save file... please
Willowisp  [author] Sep 27, 2017 @ 8:55pm
I'll double check things to make sure this version isn't doing anything unintended with the coloration. Thanks for the report.
Willowisp  [author] Sep 27, 2017 @ 8:48pm
You must be referring to Dusk/Dawn. It does the same to a slightly lesser extent and hue on vanilla. At least thats how it was for the last few alphas, i'm not sure if they changed it for A17
Massive Legend Sep 27, 2017 @ 6:42am
When it is night it turns everything pink/purple
spsblue Sep 18, 2017 @ 3:13am
Thank you; I've got a lot of mods, so I'll have a shuffle around and see if it makes a difference.

@ BlueTressym:

Have you tried starting a new game with just this mod activated?

I noticed a few other mods don't play nice with this one depending how it sets in the load order (For example the cave biome mod specifically gets super bright if loaded in the mod order after Realistic Darkness.)

Just thought I'd throw that out there in the hopes it helps you solve the problem?
BlueTressym Sep 1, 2017 @ 7:23pm
Yes, I still have the same monitor. I did have to reinstall everything recently, so I don't know if that's part of the problem. I did look at Reshade but my brain melted when I tried to understand it (that was awkward; I don't have much left as it is!) I will, however, ask a more accomplished friend to have a look.
Willowisp  [author] Sep 1, 2017 @ 10:02am
Do you have the same monitor? I've been trying to balance the darkness levels as best I can but its next to impossible to do, and also subjective to boot. Your best option is to use Reshade. Its a third party software but it works great with rimworld and gives you an in-game tool to tweak darkness levels to whatever you like. You still need this mod because using reshade alone probably won't get you dark enough. Links to reshade are in the description here.
BlueTressym Aug 31, 2017 @ 11:56am
Umm, I don't know if I'm having a problem with this mod or if it's been changed. I haven't played RW for several months and have just started a new colony. I had this mod before and still do now, because vanilla 'darkness' just isn't.

I've noticed the sunrise/sunset seems to be very pink but also that the darkness doesn't seem to be dark, certainly not like the illustration above. As I said, it's been a while, but I'm sure it was noticeably darker than vanilla before and now it doesn't seem to be.

I've checked for conflicts but I don't have anything else that touches Weathers.xml.

Am I missing something obvious; I have near-zero clues as to how to change things without buggering them up.
Joe_z Aug 5, 2017 @ 4:57pm
i skipped a word or two, the saturation on my monitor was up a bit high. my fault
Willowisp  [author] Aug 5, 2017 @ 4:55pm
After starting to use reshade Istarted backing down on this mod's saturation boosts. To be fair, i didn't deviate much from vanillas saturations in the first place so It should'nt be a huge difference.
Joe_z Aug 5, 2017 @ 1:33pm
@Helpful Bot Thanks for the variety!! I found out part of my problem wasa the color saturation was dialed up a bit high, making dusk/dawn appear wayyyyyyy too red.
Willowisp  [author] Aug 5, 2017 @ 12:54pm
I'm also going to me releasing two or three more versions of this mod on the forums. Absolute darkness which is darker than the dark version, and Gloaming Darkness which will be between the lighter and darker versions.
Willowisp  [author] Aug 5, 2017 @ 12:52pm
I put a link to the Reshade utility in the description. Great tool for fine-tuning your games darkness levels.
Joe_z Aug 1, 2017 @ 2:42pm
@Helpful Bot honestly, i thought it was pretty close to perfect as you had it before. adding just a tiny bit of red/pink for the sunset would be a nice touch, but only a little

my $.02
Willowisp  [author] Aug 1, 2017 @ 3:27am
I'm sorry to hear that but I really appreciate the feedback! I think I may be rolling back the color. How is the overall brightness now? If anyone knows someone who might be able to shine some light on making an in-game RGB slider ; please send me their info. I'd even be willing to pay someone for their help, in either US$ or sexual favors.
Joe_z Jul 31, 2017 @ 9:09pm
ive been a long time subscriber of this mod but the recent color swap during dusk was too much for me.
