@(=Nemesis=) Seven years later and glad to see you're still playing the mod!
(=Nemesis=) Jan 11, 2024 @ 12:19pm
I recalled Po-Metru to life and the game immediately crashed.

Would it be possible for you to do something about the spelling errors throughout? It's a nice mod, but it badly needs a spell-check. "As the priamary builder of the chutes" and so on....
Alzoru Sep 29, 2017 @ 10:40am
I need help. This mod won't show up in my list or mod folder, and I'm on windows. I know I used to be able to play this mod just fine so what gives?
civ Aug 23, 2017 @ 8:36pm

Over 3300 Science

Unless i'm mistaken that's nearly 10 times anyone else @ emperor difficulty (lol).
civ Aug 23, 2017 @ 9:20am
Dno how it happened but i was having a nice chill game and ko metru settled multiple cities in snow and i looked at the yields over there and noticed i'm #2 science by like 10% lol. I lost science victory to ko metru.

Oh.........my childhood................This is amazing though

@Triple

Haha oh I wish. I didn't get far enough to figure hwo to do custom textures for the game. If Civ 5 still remains popular and modding is still a thing for Civ 5, I plan on expanding this mod and possible make a few more boinicle mods and unique skins will be part of that.
SenPie69 Oct 5, 2016 @ 7:57am
does every unique units have skins?
KearbDawg  [author] Sep 29, 2016 @ 7:32pm
@Squidzo

I do plan on doing those sometime soon, however, I just need the ideas for their UU's and UA and the like, so if you'd help me come up with those, that would be...

Oh, I see your discussion thread ;) I am looking at it now
Squidzo's meat house Sep 27, 2016 @ 10:14pm
Please do the Bahrag, Dark Hunters, and Makuta
Legodudelol9a Aug 20, 2016 @ 11:29am
So I just made Metru Nui for all y'all, it should be in my bionicle map pack, IDK for sure as it is my first time updating a mod
Legodudelol9a Aug 19, 2016 @ 3:40pm
I accept your challenge FieryCharizard7
Legodudelol9a Aug 19, 2016 @ 3:39pm
I have already made a map pack for bionicle locations like Daxia, Xia, Destral and eccetera.
Legodudelol9a Aug 19, 2016 @ 3:38pm
that makes sense
I am great at map making, so i could try to make Metru Nui for you.
FreePotato Aug 18, 2016 @ 11:38pm
right in the friggin childhood man this is brilliant:Ragna::SD_Tsubaki:
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 18, 2016 @ 9:26pm
@Tsworld

also, I wanted more than 1 religion, so I kind of added Hauism as a pseudo religion. Technically the Hau was the symbol of Mata Nui before the Ignika, but as I said, I wanted multiple religions. I was tempted to do a religion on each of the 6 Kanohi from the 1st series, but couldn't really find good images. Plus religion was never really fleshed out well in Bionicle. Other than the existence of the Great Temple, there's not uch to say about religious practice or belief or anything in the canon
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 18, 2016 @ 9:26pm
@Twsworld

Hahaha I have thoughts of my own for all of that. That's a ton of civs xD and who knows if civ 5 mods will still stay relavant once Civ 6 comes out. However, please type up your thoughts on the the traits, UA/UB, and post it in a discussion and let me know. I'd like to do mroe Civ & Bionicle mods, but a lot of the work I put in was just coming up with good ideas so I didn't waste time while coding. Also keep in mind this project took me some 40+ hours with all of the work, but I did enjoy it.

Also if you like doing mapmaking, I really need a good Metru Nui map for this mod, and if you made it for me, I'll give you credit and include it in the mod, as I'm not great at mapmaking (or even make the Matoran Civil War Scenario if you are a true Bionicle Knurd ;) )
Legodudelol9a Aug 18, 2016 @ 12:03pm
Oh, and you should merge Great Spirit and Hauism to Mata-Nuiism, that would be more story accurate.
Legodudelol9a Aug 18, 2016 @ 12:00pm
Hey, good job for your first mod, all Iv'e ever been able to do is make maps and map packs, and thus I have some civilization requests. Would you please make the Bahrag, the Makuta, the Skakdi, the Dark Hunters, the Vortix, the Skrall Empire, the Voya Nui Resistance Team, the Bara Magna Elemental tribes, the Sisters of the Skrall, the Skrall Empire, the Nynra Ghosts, the Order of Mata Nui, the various Toa Teams, Voya Nui lead by turaga Jovan, Metru Nui lead by Turaga Dume, and the Barraki. If you want any suggestions I am a huge Bionicle geek and know litterally everything about the origional Bionicle line due to biosector01.com , or just visit the site yourself.
Yellow Cheese Aug 17, 2016 @ 8:55pm
Yes stuff can get rather insane, even more so since they can get insane tiles by going piety, an otherwise unviable strategy on Immortal/Diety
http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/276230128543957585/DC2789B406A20A99C9D586E94C0DF3CA4DD0EFF0/
Also I think the lack of ability to get universites in Inland cities can get a good deterrent keeping people form settling potentional powerful cites inland.

Still seeing some problems with Nuju's starts, especially the AI which rarely settles snow cities (if Nuju was only a bit more expanisve, but that does not fit his character)

I have now Played full early games (150 turns+) with all the civs (and full games with 3 of them) so ill drop some thoughts on each one of them in a discussion. warning: Its over 1500 words long (I wrote for legit 90minutes non-stop I dont know what happened to me)
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 17, 2016 @ 5:05pm
@Yellow Cheese

Yes I can move the requirement to Libraries! I did not even think of that, thank you!

And yeah, in theory, a Ga-Metru worked fish tile in the capital would get like 5 Food, 3 production (pantheon), 2 gold, 3 science, and 4 faith, which is like a Barrier Reef, but hey, Ga-Metru is very very tied to the ocean
Yellow Cheese Aug 17, 2016 @ 3:51am
@fierycharizard I can live without universities in inland cities, but not without Public schools and research labs. Is it possbiel to move the requerment for public schools to libraries rather than universities? (I also cant thing of a way to nerf the universiites without them becomming worse than the base ones fyi, but i can show you some of the insane tiles yuo can get if everythign goes your way)
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 16, 2016 @ 7:34pm
@Yellow Cheese

Hmmm I did not consider that. I will remove the coastal requirement from that then, but if I did so, would I want to nerf the coastal tile bonus?

@Baldur
Wow! Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the mod
Yellow Cheese Aug 16, 2016 @ 6:48pm
Another problem seems to have appeared. Since the Ga-Metro university replacment needs sea to be made, its impossible for inland cities to not only build universities, but also Public Schools and Research labs, this is really frustrating when you're trying ro get the most out of captured cities (and the occasional settled inland city, although Nokama's great coastal bonuses negate that)
Charles Martel Aug 15, 2016 @ 5:05pm
OMG nostalgia. Anyone who calls this "cringey" didn't have a childhood.
Shade Aug 15, 2016 @ 7:10am
@FieryCharzard7, I was playing on difficulty 3. *Shrug* New to the game kinda plus I was testing a modciv more than actually playing.

@1011011 Everyone remembers things differently, I happen to primarily be visual. I remember what I see more than anything.
🙂 Aug 15, 2016 @ 5:53am
how do people remember this
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 15, 2016 @ 4:36am
Yes you are correct, but the point of the UB is that it needs to be next to snow and not mountain.

If you are playing on a higher difficult, sometimes they don't.
Shade Aug 14, 2016 @ 8:14pm
Observatories need the city to be next to a mountain... at least I'm fairly sure they do.

The weird thing about the AI was that it didn't contact me for anything, positive or negative. Unless there's an "Isolationist" personality and Po got it on a 10 or something...
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 14, 2016 @ 7:44pm
@Shade

Ah shoot, now that you say that, I think I reverse engineered the code wrong, as I meant to have it have one snow tile within the borders for the Tower of Thought. I should also add in a note that it does not require a mountain within 2(?) tiles.

Well, the AI not contacting is just the way their bias' go. If their values on a scale of 10 can differ from the original value by +/-2, so AI can vary between matches. I think that is just the AI being the AI.
Shade Aug 14, 2016 @ 6:39pm
Te 4th city didn't have a mountain, should have specified that.
Shade Aug 14, 2016 @ 6:38pm
Oh, right. Tower of Thought is... weird. My capital had snow tiles at a 3 range out but I never had the option to build it, but in my fourth city, which I built on directly snow (mostly because it was a lot of snow funnily enough) was able to build one.

And my second city was both on snow and next to a mountain, I was able to build one there. The civipedia entry also says it still needs a mountain to build it? Just something you forgot to change or is it supposed to need snow and a mountain? Come to think of it, that 2nd city's mountain was a snowy one as well.

I noticed something else kind of odd as well, my random game had one of the AIs as the brown culture/builder dudes (Po Metru) and he never contacted me in diplomacy. No, wait. He did. Once, to trade luxeries. But... well, none of the "Don't settle cities near me" or... anything like that. And we were very close to each other.

I'm fairly sure he never contacted me after that first time either.
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 14, 2016 @ 5:18pm
@Shade

Hahaha well, snow civs do have their niche

I'm not sure why that doesn't stop, but the audio in the game is buggy sometimes for me too and I'm not sure if that's a mod thing or I missed something in the coding.

Was it buildable? Now that I think of it, I'm not sure if I tested whether or not the "snow within borders of the city" code was working or not :,D

Please let me know it there are any other bugs and I hope you enjoy the mod!
Shade Aug 14, 2016 @ 1:52pm
*Pops back out* Who knew turning one of the most inhospitable tiles in the game into one of the best would be so funny. Yeah, played Ice/snow guy, I was using a couple other mods, the only one that would be relevant is the "Terrain - Poor Tiles Tweak" which gave Snowy Hills a base 2 production, which then doubled to 4 when I built the Knowledge Tower.

The War music also kept going for a few turns after I was out of the war.

And I forgot to check if the Tower of Thought did anything odd now that I think on it. Whoops.
Shade Aug 14, 2016 @ 10:28am
I actually just decided to start up a game, get back to you in a couple of hours.
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 14, 2016 @ 9:58am
@Shade

Did you get it running?
Shade Aug 14, 2016 @ 7:22am
I got the winzip to work on it, so its unpacked now at least. Thank you for the... well thank you for the civmod. Since I think mmy computer reseting is what solved the issue rather than anything either of us did. :P
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 13, 2016 @ 9:18pm
@Shade

Hahaha that's what everyone says when they play civ! :P Anyways, yes please let me know if that works
Shade Aug 13, 2016 @ 9:15pm
Alright, I'll get back to you tomorrow on that... probably anyway. I really should be asleep right now.
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 13, 2016 @ 9:09pm
@shade
Go to the mediafire link. It is a .zip file. When you unzip it, you will get the folder that will be titled 'Metru Nui (v4)'. Copy that folder into your MODS folder and see if that lets you play the mod.

It probably crashed because your computer got overwhelmed (it happened to me twice today because long story short I moved all my mods out of their folder and Civ wanted to redownload them) The file is 70 MB, but it would be difficult and long for me to split the whole thing apart into 8 different mods.
Shade Aug 13, 2016 @ 9:04pm
Not what I meant. I can download it fine. I can download the full civ5mod file, put it in my MODS folder, but the game won't unpack it. And then when I deleted it and went into the civ5 in-game/Steam web browser and subscribed to this to download it, it just crashed at the end of the download section (I.E. when it started to try and unpack everything).
KearbDawg  [author] Aug 13, 2016 @ 8:54pm
@Shade
I added a download link to the description, but here it is too. Try this and let me know if this works: https://www.mediafire.com/?wp07nhnqvj8zl49

@Yellow Cheese
I updated the mod, so Nuju's start bias should be fixed. I have not tested it yet however, but my issue was that I gave it Tundra bias and Desert avoid, but civ only lets you do 1, so Nuju was doing desert avoid I believe
Yellow Cheese Aug 13, 2016 @ 1:36pm
Great modpack! My only problem is how I cant seem to get starts with Nuju that are close to snow, so I can never really make full use of his ability, think it could be possible to change his start bias from tundra too Snow or something of the like?
Shade Aug 13, 2016 @ 11:47am
Can you split this up into individual civ mods. My computer doesn't want to unpack it and I think it might be because its too big. When I subscribe to download it it just crashes my game, and if I download it and put it in my MODS folder, it just doesn't get unpacked.

So its either that or it doesn't play nice with Windows 7 or DirectX9.

And it is a civ5mod file, and I have winzip, but its not giving an option to unpack it. *Shrug*
Slugsenpai Aug 12, 2016 @ 5:29am
there needs to be more bionicle mods X3
