Yeah, I can certainly understand that. I'm working on some concepts for more Viera armors with a a sci-fi style--perhaps tier 7+-- and we're looking at what visuals we can utilize to make them more interesting. If you have anything specifically you might like to see, feel free to share in our Discord ^_^
CrusaderF8 Jun 5 @ 7:57am
On the topic of the different body and animation, my only complaint is that it means I can't use some of the cool sci-fi styles of armor from the game and other mods. So just have a few in that style and I'll be happy lol. BUNS IN SPACE!

While the clear advantage is that races can share clothes with one another, I nevertheless do find the lack of greater distinction between races in vanilla Starbound embarassing actually. The idea that every race out in the universe would have the exact same body dimensions is highly unimaginative. Not to mention the fact that each race in Starbound was originally intended to be racially different before the developers dropped the ball.

You do make a great point in that the Avali are quite possibly the most popular modded race in Starbound, and they can't wear any vanilla clothes.

The fact all the vanilla races and most of what's on the workshop are so similar isn't embarrassing, it's a strength and it's why there is such a modding scene for this game. Anything that makes a race nonstandard will make it less compatible with other mods and even vanilla content. Viera can only wear viera clothes, and other races can't wear viera clothes. That's especially a problem when you change clothes people might have already put on their characters to no longer be compatible with them, without leaving the legacy versions available anywhere. That's not to say a race being distinct is purely a bad thing, the avali have nonstandard bodies and they're clearly very popular, but there are also lots of mods that support avali and add more clothes for them and even make some avali clothes wearable by standard races. Making things less standard makes them less compatible unless you put in the work to fix and adapt everything, which isn't always feasible or possible.

@Syke Stryker

No hairstyles were removed--though a great deal were added--and the hair color options were simply expanded upon as well.

Sorry you're not satisfied with the direction of the race's aesthetics, but I can't please everyone. Moreover, all alterations were made not only to keep with the FF lore of the races contained within this mod (which I'm guessing you're not aware of), but to also provide some actual racial distinction which vanilla Starbound embarassingly lacks. Viera are a taller race, just as Moogles and Starbound's Penguins are a shorter race.

Have a nice day ^_^

v bro got stuck in time
Syke Stryker May 31 @ 6:58pm
Jeeeesus, even removed the hairstyle and hair colour I used before.... the tall bodies and weird stances just don't fit.... Mod ruined, Uninstalled and down voted, sorry.
You over complicated the sprite art and now it's just a visual mess.
Syke Stryker May 31 @ 6:44pm
Awww man, I come back to Starbound and this race has been changed so much. I really prefer how my guy looked before.
Fireshot May 30 @ 9:00am
Interesting! The Moogles are even smaller than the Woggle race!
Intern Seraph May 26 @ 11:09am
goodness, i finally went and found a viera settlement and everything is so gorgeous it's unreal! the difference between the pre-update settlements and the new ones is night and day, very well done!!

is bangaa coming?
any updates? :)
TheTwilightDancer May 20 @ 9:57pm
No need to apologize, it was because I uninstalled the wrong mod and loaded my planet before I knew the issue, and when I tried restoring my backup planet, it got corrupted too before I found out it was due to me accidentally uninstalling Viera of Ivalice. ^^; I rebuilt my base on another planet that doesn't have the ore so I don't have accidents again. There's only so much that modders can do to keep planets from crashing from missing assets. Starbound developers left an unfinished game and didn't make fail safes like they did for missing item or furniture assets. XD
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] May 20 @ 8:45pm
@TheTwilightDancer It does still currently spawn as vanilla ores do, but I can rectify that and make it spawn only on Majestic Forest planets. So sorry that it caused issues in your previous playthrough
TheTwilightDancer May 20 @ 8:09pm
Love to use this mod again now that it's gotten such a big and beautiful update. And I assume magicite crystal will only be found on majestic planets now? It would be fitting since that's where the ore originates, vs spawning on every vanilla planet that might feel out of place and also less chance of planetary bases being corrupted due to missing magicite ore. I accidentally uninstalled the older version of the mod at one point when cleaning up my mod collection, and even my backup planet was corrupted due to missing magicite ore. I'll definitely be more careful this time, I'd love to make another base on one of the majestic forests. :steamthumbsup:
MegaMato May 10 @ 5:42pm
Just curious, was there a specific reason the majestic forest planet view zooms in to the planet so much more than other planets?

This is a great video displaying all that was used as inspiration for Viera villages--though there are some spoilers for FFXII. If you jump to about 2:10, you see Moogles enter the village.
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 28 @ 7:55am
Currently, the Chocobo quest can be completed by any players who encounter the Chocobo Knight in Viera villages.

Besides the crafting tables and Chocobo barding, Moogles don't know other Viera crafting recipes by default, though I did include a few valuable codexes that teach some Viera recipes in their ship treasure. Every Viera object you see in villages can be learned as a craftable by any race from the manuals/codexes sold at Nanzies though.

In FFXII, Moogles, like other races, are not allowed beyond the entrance of the Viera village. I took a few free liberties in incorporating them deeper in villages as merchants in villages, mostly because in FFXII you see two Moogles walk in and set up a shop at the entrance of the Viera village.

With time, I aim to give Moogles more objects that are themed and sized for them.
Azuli-Bluespots Apr 28 @ 5:39am
Is the chocobo quest also only for Viera btw?
Azuli-Bluespots Apr 28 @ 5:24am
Is it normal that the moogles can't craft a lot of viera items? They basically live together, I guess they'd be able to craft the same stuff (even if ivalice moogles have their own society or something)
Indy Apr 27 @ 6:31pm
Quick question: are the fencers suppose to have bows? Reason why is I recruited a fencer with a bow.
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 27 @ 12:28pm
Fixed the Discord link on this page. I didn't realize it was broken x_x
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 27 @ 10:55am
Okie dokie. I think I saw it on Reddit. I'll do some investigating. Maybe I'll ask them about it ^_^
Kinsect Apr 27 @ 10:20am
I wish I did o.o
all I know is the stuff that namje said and shown on his reddit page and that it requires OpenStarbound
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 27 @ 9:56am
It's possible. I'm not sure how that system is delivered. If it fsr has quest prerequisites that require the original "bootship" in order to work, then yes it will require patching. Do you know if that system requires templates setup for BYOS ships like the FU one does?
Kinsect Apr 27 @ 9:51am
It hasn't been released yet ^^;;
(it will in like a month or two) but yeah I suspected this might conflict since it's similar to byos with the ability to buy new ship layouts
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 27 @ 9:20am
@Kinsect I couldn't find this mod on Steam, but yeah, there's a chance it might not work and will require a patch. I'm really not sure.
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 27 @ 9:14am
@Indy Yeah, I'm not sure if another mod is the cause or not, but its possible. I might recommend the mod Crew Customization +, as I have a separate patch available for that for Viera crew members. This will allow you to alter their gear and should remedy your issue.
Indy Apr 26 @ 6:36pm
I've been noticing something with the fencers that you can have as a crew class: they'll end up switching they're weapons back and forth constantly. I don't know if it from a weapon mod that I have or what, but it really drives me insane.
Kinsect Apr 26 @ 5:41pm
Say with the advent of namje's byos mod (or starship Atelier?) will there be a patch for it?
cause I got the feeling with the new byos it would break the new quest's on your ships ^^;;
AgentKirin Apr 17 @ 8:58pm
For reasons unknown, the guards in Viera cities have a tendency to give "build a house" quests as if they were tenants. Not game-breaking, but still odd.
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 12 @ 8:00pm
Job armor recipes are sold by the merchant Nanzie in the marketplace of Viera villages. They're crafted at the Viera tailory station.
Tiger Apr 12 @ 7:51pm
How do I create the job-based armor? So far all I see are the tiered armors on the crafting station.
AgentKirin Apr 11 @ 12:38pm
Noice. It'll be cool to have some variety :3
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 11 @ 10:47am
@AgentKirin They're functionally setup but not possible to acquire just yet, as we're looking at how we want to interject them in the universe and deliver them to players. They're on our priority list though ^_^
AgentKirin Apr 11 @ 10:25am
Is it possible at the moment to acquire chocobos besides Yellow Ivalician? Either way, looking forward to the environmental variants mentioned in "Coming Soon".
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 9 @ 6:04pm
Thank you, Azuli ^_^ Your feedback on all this has been very helpful. So sorry for the bumpy road with bugs today!
Azuli-Bluespots Apr 9 @ 5:43pm
Well, if someone complains there, that's a thing that will help them. I was able to fix my side of things the way I mentioned, so for now I'm fine. Next update might be alright too.
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 9 @ 5:40pm
Weird. I updated the version on the forums earlier with the same one here. It's possible that the .pak file got corrupted. I'll repack the main mod and repost it there. Hopefully that solves the problem. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll investigate further. Thank you for bringing this to my attention ^_^
Azuli-Bluespots Apr 9 @ 5:38pm
The steam version seems to not make the log spam :0 file size was the same tho, wth
Azuli-Bluespots Apr 9 @ 5:34pm
Uh... something is up with the mod, at least the starbound forums version, it seems. I download from there to get it manually and put on my server, and I'm getting a log spam of something about buildvieraarmor.lua :c
I"ll try to get the steam version and replace that to see if it works.
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 9 @ 12:18pm
On further investigation, I must note that if your Moogle character has progressed beyond the initial tier, it seems that many initial ship objects will disappear and need to be replaced. This includes the lounge area objects, as well as a few ship hatches and the decorative Magicite ship engine. Fortunately, these objects are craftable. My apologies for this muck up. This was a major oversight on my part and I'm so sorry if it resulted in a loss of objects/items.
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 9 @ 11:56am
Just posted a fix for Viera and Moogle tiered ships. This issue was mainly plaguing Moogle ships, and was replacing objects on the ship as players upgraded from tier to tier. This caused a loss of items that was stored on these objects that ended up being replaced with every ship upgrade. My apologies for this. If you find that an existing character is still experiencing this with tier ship upgrades, it may require a shipworld reset (see pinned discussion on 'ship fix').
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 9 @ 9:48am
Okie dokie, I'm working on some fixes. I'll take a look at the hearth's positioning as well, but may post a fix for the ship sooner with some information as I don't want people to continue to lose things on upgrade. My apologies
Azuli-Bluespots Apr 9 @ 9:29am
I mean, the hearth was oddly positioned from the first version. Its anchor point is one block outside.

Also, I found the paper, glass and other things - it's all in the same tab. The other two are empty, which is why I thought it meant stuff was missing;
freyjasvalkyrie13  [author] Apr 9 @ 8:44am
@Azuli-Bluespots

I'll do some investigating on all this. I believe I know why the ship upgrade is emptying containers, though that's something I didn't anticipate at first. Sorry if you lost a lot x_x As for the hearth position, this was something we had trouble working out, as upgradeable stations are very finnicky about how each upgrade positions itself.
Azuli-Bluespots Apr 9 @ 7:56am
Ah, right, we also can't do stuff like paper on the hearth.
