You do make a great point in that the Avali are quite possibly the most popular modded race in Starbound, and they can't wear any vanilla clothes.
No hairstyles were removed--though a great deal were added--and the hair color options were simply expanded upon as well.
Sorry you're not satisfied with the direction of the race's aesthetics, but I can't please everyone. Moreover, all alterations were made not only to keep with the FF lore of the races contained within this mod (which I'm guessing you're not aware of), but to also provide some actual racial distinction which vanilla Starbound embarassingly lacks. Viera are a taller race, just as Moogles and Starbound's Penguins are a shorter race.
Have a nice day ^_^
You over complicated the sprite art and now it's just a visual mess.
any updates? :)

Avian looks so little with the White Mage set... Don't change this.
This is a great video displaying all that was used as inspiration for Viera villages--though there are some spoilers for FFXII. If you jump to about 2:10, you see Moogles enter the village.
Besides the crafting tables and Chocobo barding, Moogles don't know other Viera crafting recipes by default, though I did include a few valuable codexes that teach some Viera recipes in their ship treasure. Every Viera object you see in villages can be learned as a craftable by any race from the manuals/codexes sold at Nanzies though.
In FFXII, Moogles, like other races, are not allowed beyond the entrance of the Viera village. I took a few free liberties in incorporating them deeper in villages as merchants in villages, mostly because in FFXII you see two Moogles walk in and set up a shop at the entrance of the Viera village.
With time, I aim to give Moogles more objects that are themed and sized for them.
all I know is the stuff that namje said and shown on his reddit page and that it requires OpenStarbound
(it will in like a month or two) but yeah I suspected this might conflict since it's similar to byos with the ability to buy new ship layouts
cause I got the feeling with the new byos it would break the new quest's on your ships ^^;;
I"ll try to get the steam version and replace that to see if it works.
Also, I found the paper, glass and other things - it's all in the same tab. The other two are empty, which is why I thought it meant stuff was missing;
I'll do some investigating on all this. I believe I know why the ship upgrade is emptying containers, though that's something I didn't anticipate at first. Sorry if you lost a lot x_x As for the hearth position, this was something we had trouble working out, as upgradeable stations are very finnicky about how each upgrade positions itself.
