@blast I am also having this problem, I am on a planet, I have 0 oxygen, I had to go in creative and land my lander on the planet because I spawn with 0 oxygen and cannot take my helm off, when I got to the planet, I try to remove my helmet but I cannot, also the jetpack is not powerful enough to even lift you up on planets, this is garbage mod, I got it for the hydrogen efficiency but it screws everything else up.

I uploaded v 1.2 of the mod - I increased the thrust of the jetpack in space to 1kN and changed the consumption accordingly. On planets, the thrust is up to 10 times as high - as is the consumption. Compared to the vanilla jetpack on planets it's a lot weaker, but lasts longer.

I also uploaded an alternative version of the mod that leaves the vanilla ion thrusters intact. Link is in the description.

Yep, really. Until you will be able to preserve vanilla thrusters on NPC ships without giving them to player in case of capturing the ship, can we just get the realistic hydrogen engines without changing anything else? If vanilla ion thrusters are overpowered -- then players should just don't use them in their creations, else I wonder why they use this mod. It's a sandbox game, after all.

Is there any chance we can get just the changes to hydrogen thrusters? The vanilla fuel efficiency is horrible, but I'm fine with the vanilla values of everything else this mod changes.

@Ozzy: Is it possible to change block stats on-the-fly using a kind of mod script? Not those in-game scripts put into Program Block, but those which exist outside the game environment (like Invaders or Midspace Scan). If it is, then (as it seems to an ordinary player) everything you have to do is to detect grid and/or thruster block ownership, and if the grid/thruster is owned by player, then nerf the thrusters.

P.S. If you will go for hidden thrusters compatible with vanilla (and vanilla-like) drone designs, don't forget to restore vanilla dampeners!

@draeath: I don't think the vents need any change, as they don't generate oxygen, and I have left the 1 unit = 1 m3 ration of oxygen roughly intact. So modded vents should work fine.

@Зимний: I could try that. I haven't really dabbled with hiding blocks yet, but I can look into it. One problem that would entail is that once you capture a ship, you'd have access to the "overpowered" thrusters. Maybe I can come up with a drawback for that.

Quick note, for those hyped up to try planets and trying this mod at the same time. Oxygen (and hydrogen) bottles etc are broken right now. [forum.keenswh.com]

Got a reply from Leonser: this mod makes everything else too slow. Please can you make so the vanilla thrusters are kept on the same power level (and maybe have their exhaust replaced by orange one, so they mimic a real hydrogen thruster to put up with their thrust), but remove them from G-menu so they are not buildable by player, and make a new "ion thruster" block with current nerfed specifics?

Would modded vents need any changes to match? This is one of my must-have mods, and is currently the only oxygen-related one I'm planning to use.

Wow, just wow. I was waiting for real rocket engines from 1.033, but Keens had failed with balancing, and now you really put hydrogen thrusters in a place of main propulsion system, not just some expensive afterburning toy. Sub, thumbsup, fav. Just one little question - what does this mod do to bots? I.e. are pirate drones six times slower now? I play with Exploration Enhancement Mod v.2 (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531659576) and wanna see it compatible with this awesome mod.
