Use metric shittons of Armor Slopes and Armor Corners. Really for the Utility ships I just did the central functional parts, then covered them with armor and protective tires and such.

Thanks Miracoulon! I enjoy just taking some of these out for a flight for hours around planets. Especially the Stingray and Minnow.
