The mod is not displayed in the "modifications" tab in the game, what should I do?
Nanotec  [author] Feb 6, 2023 @ 9:20am
Hello @m00n thank you for playing with my mod. Right ! In fact the term "realism" was rather to depict that some parts of the game were rebalance. To be honest I didn't realized what was the equivalent radius of 3 hexes in meters ingame. But I found interesting to make nuke access more difficult while improving its radius. It's more for the gameplay than for the realife equivalence.
You can reduce its radius changing one line of code in my mod using modbuddy. I can help you with that if you're interested.
m00n Feb 3, 2023 @ 9:12pm
For the record, these map hexes are large enough to contain a major metro area. The tsar bomba blast wave wouldnt make trenton new jersey let alone far enough away for another major city to plop without being the same city, like 3 civ hexes is supposed to represent. Insta kill for 20x the size of a major metro area is like HG Well's level of non-realism when it comes to nukes. He had the benefit of writing before nuclear science had discovered how to induce fission, what's your excuse?
m00n Feb 3, 2023 @ 9:02pm
>realism

>destroy everything within 3 civilization *map hexes*

yeah, ok buddy. Didnt read past, not realism.

@Tigger/Poohbear the file to load is only available on Steam and will download by himself when you subscribe to the mod. If you want to do it manually I need to put the file on a cloud somewhere on internet
Crazy Old Vet May 28, 2019 @ 3:47pm
what file do you load to when pre loading the mod manaully
Nanotec  [author] Jan 27, 2019 @ 3:44am
@Captain_Chaos yes the nukes can raze a city! If the city is big and if the city has defensives buildings (walls, nuke bunker...) you need to send many nukes on it to destroy this city. But if the city is little and week one nuke can be enough to destroy it.
filicity Jan 19, 2019 @ 7:42am
do the nukes insta-raze?
D42z Nov 7, 2018 @ 2:54pm
thanks
nenadantonic Sep 2, 2018 @ 12:03pm
Thanks
Nanotec  [author] Sep 1, 2018 @ 2:43am
Yes it's possible to do it @nenadantonic ! But I think that it's not in the theme of this mod. Maybe someone else can make a mod with this unit wich will be certainly compatible with my mod and you'll be satisfied.
nenadantonic Aug 29, 2018 @ 10:57am
Can u make some religious unit like Fanatics from CIV 2 ,who are very cheap but power about 30,or maybe 25,appearance not so important ? Thanks
Nanotec  [author] Sep 11, 2017 @ 2:44am
You can already launch ICBMs from submarines ingame -- but it will be the same icbms that you launch from the cities.
der Krieger Sep 10, 2017 @ 12:17pm
are the ICBMs sub/missile cruiser compatable, because IRL you have just bombs and ICBMs (excluding tactical nukes), whilst silo launched ICBMs are just a bit longer ranged they still function identically to ship launched ICBMs.
Nanotec  [author] Aug 15, 2017 @ 1:35am
Yeah, I hear you Layonix but I don't think that it is in the spirit of the mod (a mod for more realism) to allow watercross to helicopters cause they will can cross all the Pacific Ocean for exemple... that's not very realist ;p
Twink Annihilator May 6, 2017 @ 6:19pm
you need to make it to where helicopters pass over water. then i would download it. playing as rome and being mainly military, this would heli-p alot. and it makes sense.

Deadllama - I never try to play this mod with a multiplayer launcher. The mod was made with Modbuddy so if there is a problem with launchers who are not the Civ V mod launcher it could be a problem of comptbility with JdH's MMM. Personnaly i haven't the skills to fix it with your launcher but i'm here if someone have solutions.

I read on them website that JdH's MMM doesn't support mods who alter the game database. I changed some units and diplomacy characteristics but what did they mean when they talk of altering the database ? All mod are doing this aren't they ?
Deadllama Nov 4, 2016 @ 12:36am
I've had a few visual problems whenever I launch an ICBM, some tiles are randomly illuminated as if a unit were on it, some units become invisible and other things.

Executable Launch By: JdH's Multiplayer Mod Manager
DLC: All DLC
Mods: Modern Realism Only

Strato 5 - No you can't. With the Civ 5 system you can't parameter this in a mod sorry.
Ma5turBa8t - It's written. Yes there is. But it is more expensive than before.
Angry Cat - Yes it's normal with the nuke. You should rather use the ICBM to destroy a city with one shot !
Strato 5 Sep 18, 2016 @ 11:21am
Not totally related, but does any one know is you can shoot down a nuke with AA? (the one dropped by a plane) I have never got the oppertunity to try it...
Ma5turBa8t Aug 23, 2016 @ 3:51pm
so does this mod have mechs and x-com? I'm confused.
Sir Cunnilingus Jul 9, 2016 @ 9:51pm
Nukes still take only a half of city's HP, is it OK?
Akinaba Jun 2, 2016 @ 10:56am
could one please include, or make a compatibility pach of the Modern Realism and this mod that adds Tactical Nuclear Missles and Mobile Carriers to the game?

I fixed all problems you report to me ^^ good game !
Veev Jan 31, 2016 @ 6:43am
wait, nukes i the 13th century? i am DEFINITELY downloading this mod
sarasosio Jan 27, 2016 @ 1:33am
I noticed something interesting, and after several tests, confirmed Modern Realism was the culprit. The mod started off all my games at 5000 BC, reducing the time-per-turn increments by skipping one era's rate. This was a neat side-effect at first, but became overbearing when I unlocked Electricty in 912 AD. Later on, with nuclear capabilities by the 13th century, the only possible victory for myself or the AI was for science.
Nanotec  [author] Jan 2, 2016 @ 6:45am
yeah for sure Zenti !
I put it on the internet. You can download it until September 2016
The link for the V.6 of the mod is : https://mon-partage.fr/f/mcrHIdKQ/

Tell me if you succeed (The website is in French sorry but "Télécharger" means "Download").
Zenti Jan 1, 2016 @ 7:51am
I've subscribed but steam doesn't download the mod. Do you have a download link so that i can instal it manually?
OCCAM'S RAZOR Oct 19, 2015 @ 2:41pm
Wait my bad.. you said more expensive. I wasn't paying attention. That works, along with the hazards of mining uranium. ;):steamhappy:
OCCAM'S RAZOR Oct 19, 2015 @ 2:38pm
I like the idea except the requiring more resources for nuclear weapons. bit. In reality it only takes a tiny bit of uranium to make a nuke... but alot of science to get there. Maybe require more science to and random nuclear power plant meltdowns where uranium is mined? Just a tad bit more real IMO.
Nanotec  [author] Aug 31, 2015 @ 8:42am
@Roze great idea ! I'll see if it's possible to add some commands in the script which can introduce a "hapinness cost :steamhappy:" when we use nuke

But notice that in my mod the diplomatical opinion about the use of nuclear weapons is more strict
Smoovest Brane Aug 29, 2015 @ 4:36pm
I think the AI already produces an annoying amount of AA units, dont give them more because they just use them like standard infantry.
Otto The Italian Slayer Aug 29, 2015 @ 7:24am
meh
Monsterbitar Aug 29, 2015 @ 7:11am
I'd say that a decent way to balance nukes would be to make detonation cost permanent happiness. Maybe something like... all civilizations gets -20% happiness per nuke, and the detonating civ gets -30% extra. After the 2nd nuke, you can never become happy again, and after the third you start getting rebellions :)
FA | Alex SDU Aug 29, 2015 @ 5:19am
You're right, Melon. Just like back in Civ2, where we got nuclear winter & drought.
Watermelon Aug 29, 2015 @ 5:00am
Usually there should be a mod that if you fire about 6 nuclear bombs/missiles, Fallout begins.
perthbotak Aug 28, 2015 @ 6:46am
@bohric - you're describing a Firaxis made mod/scenario that was included with Civ4 Beyond the Sword. After the fourth nuke dropped by *anyone* was detonated, a splash screen came up saying the planet had cracked like an egg, and from there the game was over. A lot of players actually hated it, given the AI's tendency to nuke a mosquito.
Warwick🐺 Aug 26, 2015 @ 11:07pm
That does sound intereting bohric :O if you find that mod, if there is one, you should let me know ;D
Reyquiem Aug 26, 2015 @ 9:33pm
I remember that Civ 4 had an option to completely destroy the world if too many nukes were used. Is there already another mod for that I should look at? Because if there isn't, I think that would be good to add in.
Fio'vre Guillem Aug 26, 2015 @ 10:15am
Could you add an armageddon feature? So there is a hard limit of explodable nukes per game.
