@Wingnut whole block only same as vanilla.
Look into sprays mod for putting some detail/color wherever you want on ships.

I did *try* some neon blocks on it (the tube ones) but they were really picky about where they could be placed, so in the end I got rid of them. I don't think I missed any but I'll take another look.

Can you paint a single side of a block or is it the whole block only?

In the past the neon blocks caused some weird rendering crashes because they're triggering some event when painted, I *think* only one is required to mess the entire thing, but I forget. I did some workarounds to mitigate it by painting in chunks. Is your ship using at least 1 neon block?

Can you send the ship blueprint? I'll see what I can dig up next time I'm working on my mods.

Also you mean paint replace right?

Incredible mod, thank you so much for your TEN YEARS of hard work on this. 🙏 I am sure I'm doing something wrong, but when I mass paint my entire vehicle (700 parts or so) sometimes the game slows to a slideshow, but other times it does the entire thing instantly. It'll do the operation but it doesn't seem to recover from being 3 seconds per frame. Am I doing something stupid?

Also FYI Digi, the new update broke the paint gun's 'Shift+P' ability to get the color you're looking at, since the new update added Shift+P as a keybind for something else. Also can verify, the paint gun no longer seems to recognize skins and just paints everything with the default skin

I've seen reports of people unable to skin things on official servers too, might've been a thing with steam maintenance day? Can you guys try it again now on a freshly restarted server ideally :}

I am getting the error "Concrete skin not applied, likely not owned" This also happens with the Battered skin, probably others, but I did not try them all. This is happening on a dedicated server. Thanks for all of your effort on this mod, it's mandatory for me.

@Hawkwar, Yes I forgot to mention it, but I do have the problem on multiplayer, in singleplayer it works. I tested without the mod on my server, but the problem is still there, so I really don't understand. Maybe the new update broke something, because I tested in singleplayer with all the server's mods and the problem wasn't there. So yeah, the issue is with multiplayer.

I don't know why, but when I try to paint any DLC skin, it says "cannot apply skin" but with vanilla skins it works fine 🤔 I own every DLC so I really don't understand why it won't apply skins... Any help would be appreciated, thanks !

Looking for assistance with this mod. I have subscribed to it and con see the downloaded files on my local drive (PC) but the mod is not loading. I am in experimental mode and scrips are on, and I have several other mods active. I have tried removing the directory and unsubscribing/re-subscribing but still can not get this mod to load. Any help would be appreciated.

After only having this mod for about 10 hours now, i can safely say i can not live without it. it is so much better to paint with the pressing the goddamn MMB every goddamn time i want to paint something and using the Scroll wheel and Shift+Scroll for paint and skin selection is a god send

It's actually bound to the "cube size mode" so if you rebound that from R to something else then use that in combination with shift.
The /pg chat command should show the actual keys for your binds.
And if you want it on shift+R you can change it in the config file.

Hi, I've been having some trouble with the replace all of a kind (shift+r). I've been trying to get it to work for a while now but no matter what I do it just doesn't do anything. Nothing indicates that it gets toggled when I use the hotkey and when I click it just paints the one block I'm aiming at. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or if it's just a bug. I ran into this problem in both creative and a survival server with the replace enabled. Thanks

It will only nag you that it's disabled but it should still function because it doesn't rely on the weapon trigger to work.
Unless it changed how it disables weapons and unequips it or something?

PSA: This is built as a weapon, not a tool, so if you turn off weapons in world settings it will be disabled.

It's probably because of the old category was now being declared by my mod and was missing some stuff. I've updated it with the recent categories and it can be equipped now (as long as you have it in your inventory of course, or creative world).

Hey guys. I can confirm what Zunder said. In addition. For me the paint gun icon could not be select, the icon was there but it was faint color. It was as if it was locked behind progression. I was able to click and drag the icon from the information text box on the right. Once placed in the shortcut bar the icon remained faint color, not active. I could not use the tool, it could not be selected from the shortcut menu, but it was there. The setting menu from chat/f2 worked. I was able to change the mod's settings. 1.205 and the latest DLC installed yesterday.

Hello and first of all thank you for this wonderful mod.

With the last update there is a problem : the devs have changed the categories and in particular that of the character's tools.

To be clear : the object still exists and everything works perfectly as before.

But when you press the G key on the keyboard to see the categories and move (click and drop in the shortcut bar box) the tool, it is no longer found in the character's tools category.

You have to type the name in the search field and there you immediately find the tool and you can move the tool to the shortcut bar again.

This is a minor problem but maybe you could fix it, thanks!

Just a note of "thanks" to Digi for creating this tool that is still working today. For re-coloring a Workshop donor's Capital ship, this tool allows you to do it. There's no way that I would want to attempt recoloring blocks using the in-game's method or by replacing blocks just to change colors. It would be prohibitively painful.

The real gem of this tool is the capability to squeeze into very narrow places that also may have overlapping blocks, and change the color underneath. That is pure genius in design! I've been playing SE for 10 years and never cease to appreciate Modders creativity to make SE better.

Here we are 9 years after this tool was released, it still works great and players have a good use for "gravel". Now that is very good design and congrats to you Digi on all of the great Mods that you have created!

When I use the paint gun, other people get the following error message on their screen:
"Paint Gun ERROR: Can't find steamId for holder of PaintGun entity! OwnderIdentityId=144************* enId=1268**********************"

any idea what the issue is and how to fix it?

I always thought this was a worthless mod, "why do I need something that does what is in game?" That was till I started reworking my big space station and decided to repaint sections that would be impossible to repaint without breaking stuff apart. This gives me the nice precision I need and wanted!

In just ONE hour, this mod has become my new favorite! THANK YOU! :steamthumbsup:

Mod is not working with the new game update to Space Engineers v1.204. Can you fix the mod?

Yes which is why I tried it in DS directly, but it works fine there too so it must be a combination of more mods.
Can you send the sandbox_config.sbc of the world. And meanwhile can you try in your DS with just deployable hoverbike and paintgun, nothing else (automatic dependencies on ofc)

Yes removing again Paint Gun make it works 🥲 as I said I tried on a local game and get both mods working fine, even mixing them with our server mods, but on our DS the deployable hoverbike only shows the red line when pressing CTRL R, the bike never happen
