Is this mod compatible with the Enlightenment Era mod?

any idea on how to make the ideologies discovered sooner, like in the renaissance instead of the modern era?

Interesting concept, I just wonder if the change to Commerce might nerf the Venetian Civilization to obscurity.

I'm not sure how it'll play out, as I tend to play longer games, but if everythings works as it says it does, then it sounds like I'll love this mod! I always hated being forced to choose between having viable scientific output (after all, it's perhaps the most important aspect of Civ to stay on level with the other civs tech-wise) and taking a situationally important policy tree. And since most games my culture isn't super-high, I MUST make that choice. So thank you for making this mod, Green!

PS: I think an Industry and Happiness-based policy tree in place of Rationalism would be a great (and much-needed) addition to the game. My urban sprawl won't build itself, after all!

Ayy I'd really appreciate it if you didn't outright delete rationalism. A science-focused tree would still be nice, it just doesn't need to be as OP as it was.
Robo-Pig Mar 17, 2015 @ 10:01am
Alright, I didn't even think of making an industry-focused tree. Sounds good, and it's definitely something the game doesn't have right now.

Please leave this mod as is and do not alter it. Instead, if I may be so bold, make a second version with the To Do List changes. You will win subscribers for this original, and it is a very original mod, and you will win subscribers for alternate versions as well. Please consider my suggestion seriously. Some authors have ruined mods by trying to make them better!

Bravo for the effort. It may end up that I think it sucks but as it hangs here before me on the wall of the museum of MODS it is the mod that I believe will soon have everybody talking--deservedly so.

Yes. After all these years of playing, from release date, through the age of countless mods and variations on modding and vanilla play, we meet this mod. At first I gagged. I could not palate this new and unusual food. It will make the game new in many many unanticipated ways. How wonderful. If one dares to try it, it may bring much gaming joy. I will, eventually, come back and try it. Got too many new mods of another sort to try first. Thank you for breaking new ground Green.

Thanks for your comments satdanov. I've gotten some other suggestions about Rationalism also, and I think I'm going to make it a new tree that focuses on industry and happiness instead of Science. That way it won't look so strange to have only one policy in that tree.
Robo-Pig Mar 16, 2015 @ 2:49pm
Well, instead of being a jerk like most other people in this comment section, I'd say you did pretty well. I've always wanted to go down honor, but on King and any other higher difficulty I just couldn't. Really well done, but I think you might want to actually just rework Rationalism. Make the policies weaker, maybe even put it in the same era as Exploration so that players actually had a choice. Or, just make it so that Humanism doesn't provide any benefit, and adjust the AI flavors so that they'll never choose that policy tree.
Green  [author] Mar 16, 2015 @ 1:09pm
Exactly. Science is important for every VC, so I moved it to the other policy trees. This way you could actually make a choice when picking policies and not be forced to take Rationalism every game.
Void Mar 16, 2015 @ 12:35pm
So instead of making Rationalism more balanced with the others, you just neutered it to the point of being useless?
Green  [author] Mar 16, 2015 @ 11:45am
Also, I think what might be confusing you - the change log above is only the CHANGES that were made. Any existing bonuses are still there (so Piety > Organized Relgion still gives +Faith as normal).
Green  [author] Mar 16, 2015 @ 11:26am
Once again, not sure what you're refering to. Patronage and Aesthetics only had positive things happen to it. Piety is MUCH better than it was previously, the only downside being the Reformation belief being pushed to the Finisher. Honor is much better now that the XP buff comes early, and Science has been added to Honor and Piety. Can you explain your comment?
explodingcrumpets Mar 16, 2015 @ 10:45am
You are without a doubt a moron why make every social policy considerably worse, making it entirely pointless to go into any policy but commerce or exploration.
Green  [author] Mar 16, 2015 @ 8:51am
I appreciate the feedback, though I don't understand how you think Honor and Piety were made weaker. They now both have Science, and Piety gets additional Faith and Culture right from the start.
amelia Mar 16, 2015 @ 8:30am
I'm sorry but this seems much LESS balanced than usual. Libertys finisher is downright worse than Traditions, Honor and Piety were already pretty weak and you made them even weaker and Patronage was already powerful.
I'm probably just going to stick with Policy+ or CBP for my policy balances.
