You can upload a mod doing this also, it's just changing fov, I have no models in this mod.
MaxStone Jan 23 @ 6:30pm
can you add a version that goes even further?

i changed one line of code to this:
<MinFov>0.0005</MinFov>
(idk if max fov was at 1.8. if it wasnt, thats on me as well)

and it works beautifully. Definitely need to make it compatible with Camera Panning (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=806331071) , because at the higher zooms, while it does still work, gets a bit touchy using the gyros to look with the whole ship.
But being able to see if a base is defended, and if so by what, from 1 km or more away is AWESOME, and if i ever actually make a proper mobile artillery platform, will be necessary
Davyd_24 Nov 23, 2024 @ 6:24am
i can zoom in CockpitShip ?
Sapioit Jan 25, 2024 @ 5:20pm
Please make another mod which decreases the FoV of the camera zoom even more. Thanks!
nukeguard  [author] Dec 5, 2023 @ 5:29pm
Idk if that is even possible even with scripts
Mike Dude Dec 4, 2023 @ 5:42pm
Idea to add to the mod to increase immersion: shift the skybox scale when zooming so that it looks the same to the eye.

In vanilla when you zoom in the skybox gets huge and blurry, but in real life the stars are so far they don't change (like infinite focus length in a camera).
nukeguard  [author] Nov 14, 2023 @ 6:01am
idk if the even works still, but you use the scroll wheel to zoom
actionjackman19 Nov 13, 2023 @ 1:51pm
Bro how to use?
nukeguard  [author] Dec 23, 2019 @ 8:07am
keen doesn't give any indication for that either
it's an undiscovered feature
Samantha Dec 23, 2019 @ 6:55am
Never mind. I just didn't know I had to scroll wheel.

Though to be fair as far as I know there are no indications of that in controls.
My bad!
nukeguard  [author] Dec 22, 2019 @ 5:04pm
dang again... KEEEEN
Samantha Dec 22, 2019 @ 1:43am
The camera doesn't seem to work in the current version of the game. Just though't I'd let you know.
WARLORD2306 Aug 8, 2019 @ 1:33pm
but forget it i just found that its a separate camera XD
WARLORD2306 Aug 8, 2019 @ 1:32pm
that and im just an accuracy freak
WARLORD2306 Aug 8, 2019 @ 1:31pm
i enjoy hitting individual players im what you call your local "most hated"
nukeguard  [author] Jul 31, 2019 @ 6:39pm
you really sure you want that? Those dots covered 9 blocks when zoomed in.
WARLORD2306 Jul 30, 2019 @ 2:15pm
could you make a separate version that still has the red dot?
Marnok Jul 20, 2019 @ 9:48am
cool thanks!
nukeguard  [author] Jul 20, 2019 @ 1:49am
updated
nukeguard  [author] Jul 19, 2019 @ 4:18pm
Well haven't gotten to it yet, but will tonight hopefully
Kermondale Jul 17, 2019 @ 12:26pm
Thank you
nukeguard  [author] Jul 17, 2019 @ 10:19am
When I am back home tomorrow, I'll get a fix for this
Marnok Jul 17, 2019 @ 6:19am
This is purple for me, is there a way for me to fix?
Chris2323 Jun 15, 2019 @ 10:16am
I can´t place the zoom+ camera on small grids, even though it is green. It still works on large grids. Also for some reason it is purple.
Kermondale Jun 3, 2019 @ 11:47am
Thank you
nukeguard  [author] Jun 3, 2019 @ 10:52am
This should still work, it only changes the FOV of cameras, I'll check it again and upload if it doesn't work.
Kermondale Jun 2, 2019 @ 11:08pm
Is it updated?
Halo Sentinel Aug 13, 2018 @ 8:39pm
@nukeguard

how did i not realise this, thanks man
nukeguard  [author] Aug 13, 2018 @ 6:33pm
when using the camera just use the mouse wheel
Halo Sentinel Aug 13, 2018 @ 1:11am
hold up

there's a zoom function

in space engineers

......

HOW DO I USE IT
breakthrough Nov 6, 2017 @ 4:44pm
Does this allow a lower than standard FOV as well? I want a wider field of view for close up drone welding.
Engi Nov 18, 2016 @ 5:56pm
So if I understand it correctly this applies to all cameras moded or not? If so can you also make it soom out further like the wide angle camera mod I use? This way all my cameras, normal, armored, docking or what ever else people come up with will all work the same and have the same levels of zoom in and out. Currently the different mods I use all have different levels of zoom in or out and its annoying. Thank you.

Nukeguard is right that milkyway Galaxy will look better even though a zoom cam than a basic 1k cube
nukeguard  [author] Feb 29, 2016 @ 4:45am
This one is really just 1k 1024x1024 cube, i have a newer one that is 4k Milkyway Galaxy
SimplyBenjamen Feb 28, 2016 @ 10:45pm
Major you know that is a real life photo of space in 8K i think.
Garviel Loken Jun 10, 2015 @ 11:16pm
Considering that the Skybox is just a big pic thats at Ok quality Try a custom skybox
They have higher quality photos and zooming should not effect it.
nukeguard  [author] Jun 10, 2015 @ 5:04pm
@Ethan .S. I have not gotten into the source code modding, as for the fuzziness, that is due to the fact that when zoomed you also zoom in on the backgroundcube (skybox) that is unavoidable, I am unsure if there is a way to make the skybox not zoom also, but that is likely in the modAPI or source code.
Garviel Loken Jun 9, 2015 @ 9:51pm
Add Zoom cam to Turret made with roaters and blocks then add a remote controll set Torc and Brake to max limit movement depinding on location of cam mount and blocks on ships or stations that it could colide with then turn off the power(remote controll it then go to Groups and add cam to controlls you just made a sniper turret :)

Update :Direct X11?
John Shepard May 19, 2015 @ 2:59pm
and plus, if you can make the camera moveable, i'm pretty sure this mod will be popular in NO time, (not that it isn't popular already)
John Shepard May 19, 2015 @ 2:58pm
and why can't you move the camera? they gave you access to the game's source code, I'm sure u can edit it
John Shepard May 19, 2015 @ 2:57pm
ok fuzzy stuff is like you know when you view the camera, it's no as clear as looking at the area yourself? (or using a mod camera) thats what i mean, it look blue and hazy
nukeguard  [author] May 19, 2015 @ 4:18am
can't move camera around, and define 'fuzzy stuff' please.
nukeguard  [author] May 19, 2015 @ 4:18am
can't move camera around, and define 'fuzzy stuff' please.
John Shepard May 18, 2015 @ 11:47pm
awesome, canu make it so that you can move the camera around and remove that fuzzy stuff?
