@Satan's Child Unfortunately. It's just been so long since I've done DST coding that I have to relearn it all again. Also I lost all my original work in progress art assets for their update stuff (because I wanted to give them HD art) that redrawing that all from scratch is kind of intimidating. I haven't lost interest in the project, though! It's just... on the back-burner. But if people are still interested I'll gladly try to update them again, even if it's just for my own pleasure.

This reminds me of a puzzle...

A few suggestions:
1. Maybe he loses a little sanity when he fights? Yes, it would be necessary, but he still doesn't like killing animals as he usually doesn't resort to violence.
2. When you click on peaceful animals (birds, koulaffant etc.) perhaps he could make references to Luke? Like: "If Luke were here, he could ask for directions" or something. (Since Luke is able to speak to animals.)
3. He could be extra skillful with spears, that they have a higher chance of hitting when he uses them (in the games, he's had such training in the past and is quite good at it, so it would be a neat reference)
4. Does tea do something specific? Like restoring health? Because it would fit.

@cappycode for the layton mod, you could make tablets, or pieces of paper randoml spawn round the map. Each one could have a number (like 009) and the more difficult, meaning the higher the number, the longer it takes. However, when completed, Layton could get a sanity boost from it, the more sanity from harder puzzles. But, if you quit you leave halfway through, you lose 5-ish sanity, because 'a true gentleman leaves no puzzle unsolved'. Great mod, by the way.

First off, the fact that someone thought to include him as a playable character in Don't Starve makes me extremely happy! I love Professor Layton and am so glad you thought to do this! Secondly, I'm really not sure what to suggest. When you first look at him in-game, it's easy to see he needs some fine tuning cuz he's actually really difficult to look at, brightness and pixel-wise. I like HesDeadJim's suggestion about the hint coins, along with luna4s108's suggestion for the sword and Flux Medic's sanity puzzles suggestion. I don't know if you've included it in the dialog, but he could say "This reminds me of a puzzle" for some of the things he examines, since that's one of his most well known phrases.

Maybe you could find hint coins randomly around the world that would unlock a random recipe? just a suggestion.

Proffesor Layton is quite good with swords. Maybe you can give him a small buff whenever he uses one?

He should be able to make puzzles to give him sanity, that would be cool.

Please tell me this is still being developed. It looks amazing.

Awesome mod! I love the Professor Layton series, and his "Top Hat" mechanic is very handy in Adventure mode. Definitely add more game references to his dialogue, but other than that, he's fantastic Starver! ( However, gentlemen are not immune to 10,000+ volts of electricity from Bishops, as I sadly found out...)

@michael9r9r§-kun actually adding Layton SFX would be perfect... and I hope to release them to DST once DST is no longer beta.

Great Mod, I recommend 2 things though
Change the voice to the beeps from the games
And add this to DST

Even as a WIP, I'm already in love with this mod. I'm a huge fan of the Professor Layton series (I've finished all 6 of the main games as well as the Phoenix Wright crossover) and I'm open to giving dialogue suggestions if you ever want any. I hope you're able to get this mod working with DST someday.

For audio, he could say the phrases he says after (successfully) completing a puzzle, when he kills an enemy!

@cappycode I have a suggestion for the character. Have it so that he will solve puzzles over time to increase sanity. Like Wickerbottom self-publishing books, he can make puzzles. If you know some, than that's great! You could impliment a wittling knife to make them. Say a wittling knife and 6 planks makes a rubix cube. If you don't know what wittling is, Google it. It is the action of adding small details with a knife.

@cappycode I'm using the character in regular Don't Starve

@AllSeeingHorse Are you using him in Don't Starve Together or regular Don't Starve/Reign of Giants ? He should work fine in the "Where there's a Wilson" update for RoG/DS but he is not made for Don't Starve Together yet.

Really great mod, but crashes my game a lot.

OMG how have I missed this up to now? I love the Layton series! If you'd like a hand with the quotes or coding, I'd be pleased to help. I have played almost all the layton games to the end, and know everything in base DS (most of RoG stuff distantly).

SUGGESTION: craftable warm tophat, or to temporarily "STUFF" his special tophat with spider silk or beefalo hide to act as a warm upgraded version that wont fair against his sanity when trying to stay warm with a different hat
