For real though, the Republic of Italy can join the Entente eventually.
My somewhat lore-friendly logic is that Rome fell to its own socialist revolt and is thus an autonomous commune under the SRI's authority (Rome itself isn't even a core of the SRI in this mod).
The main mod already has tools in place for the coring of Rome - focuses and decisions and events - dealing with the pacification of the former Papal States, as well as moving the capital to it once the war is over.
I wanted to leave it like that to make it as compatible as possible with any future update to the SRI content. But if you think it is a dealbreaker it is easy to change this.
