If you are not using the vehicles experiencing this issue and this patch is unnecessary, you can disable the harmony patch from the settings menu.
To be precise, the problem doesn’t occur in vehicles with turrets, but rather in vehicles with more or fewer than two roles.
It works fine in the standard setup with just a driver and a passenger, but when the roles include a driver, gunner, and loader, or just a driver, the holderIndex referenced by the cargo box gets misaligned.
I’ll try creating a patch when I have time.
Also I want to clarify - in case it was unclear - that merge doesn't mean that the original mod needs to be removed, as it should keep existing for the sake of RV with built-in PD. I absolutely do not want to interfere the modding community, only help make it better and smoother for all.
No rip, the accepting mod author is required to start from scratch. I just thought the added transparency of telling the mod market about this context would be nice. While code is copyrighted, the idea of a dropdown menu is universal, and was already on our list to be added prior to the release of this add-on. I've also already mentioned that I would be commisioning a mod creator to add it to Rabiosus, no need to ring the alarm lol.
It seems that this problem is not caused by this mod but rather by the framework itself. However, considering that the original RV does not have any turrets, this is likely not a bug but an issue stemming from an unintended use case.
All I can suggest is to avoid using cargo box with vehicles that have turrets.
It's basically an XML patch with a settings screen added.
What this mod does is simply edit the DefDatabase to add the RVwithPD.CompProperties_RVwitPD component from "RV with built-in PD" to specific VehicleDefs to create interior space for certain vehicles.
Reporting compatibility issues with Pocket Dimensions here won't help, as there's nothing I can do about it.
However, you CAN safely transport pocket dimension boxes inside a vehicle interior even if you use the launch function, you can then set them up at the new map, pack them up when you are done and transport them the same way back home. Just never try to install the box inside the vehicle.
Now I just need the Rimworld of Magic/Jecs Tools and Vehicle Framework issue to be resolved and I can play this game fully once again.
The best approach would be to propose removing the minimum size restriction to the original modder.
(Maybe with a warning that you can't assure proper functionality or that things won't break when it's enabled)
It may be that it works fine in many circumstances and could be offered without support.
Would really appreciate it, as I would love to add interiors to many vehicles where 7*7 is just too much and I'm sure many people will feel the same way.
Creating a patch to add walls during map generation seems too difficult for me.
The 7x7 restriction is hard-coded in the RV with built-in PD code (CompProperties_RVwitPD.MapSize).
I can create a Harmony patch to remove this restriction, but I can't predict what kind of issues it might cause. The fact that there is a minimum size restriction suggests that sizes smaller than that could lead to some problems.
From my understanding the map size is a technical limitation, but would it be possible to implement a work-around for that by automatically placing extra walls inside to accommodate smaller interiors by using up some of that space?
For instance if the value was 6*7 then a single additional row would spawn filled in with walls. At 5*7 two rows spawn filled with walls, at 4*4 it would be two rows and two columns, I'm sure you get the idea. (As a bonus, I'm pretty sure the player wouldn't even be able to see the extra walls due to fog of war).
Regardless, Cheers Rabiosus! Really appreciate this mod, hopefully smaller sizes can be made possible for the immersion of small vehicle interiors.
A rejection here dissapoints not only me, but the 12 thousand subscribers of my mod, and the reasoning behind it is misinformed, so I'm explaining that with some additional context.
We're simply having a conversation - I'm not outright rejecting denial. I can pay another modder to make a vehicle selector, but I'd rather give that money & credit to the original creator, considering this mod works out of the box anyway.
@Furia's "RV with built-in PD" mod is copied 1:1 into my RV mod, and many improvements are tacked onto it.
Besides, you also wouldn't be supporting multiple mods to begin with, because the mods are the exact same under the hood, and no modifications will be made to the RV mods that will break your mod.
Trust me, this will require no work from your end.
If you want some Steam points or money to help seal the deal, we can do that as well. Please add me as friend :)
tbh, this is a mod I created for personal use so I’m not planning to provide detailed support for it.
