Is it 4.1 compatible ?
Mongrel Man Jun 17 @ 8:16pm
can you make it so the tornado ragdolls the zombies and deals fall damage
YebNFlo  [author] Jun 17 @ 6:21pm
@Ryan Scaling is set in media/scripts/Tornado_models_items.txt. The textures are for the tornado mesh. If you mean the sandbox options for distance, I did a quick test and it didn’t reset for me. Double-check if you started a new game after rebooting.

@BeautifulRnr Yeah, I’m not a Blender pro either. Got the current model from Sketchfab. Really appreciate the feedback.

@Pass9786 Brandenburg is awesome, love the tornado bunker there.

I added a new video showing what the tornado looks like now, the old model isn’t used anymore. I’m planning to update the screenshots too.

Fixed some bugs and added a few more features. I am planning to add more tweaks to the mechanics, add the radio broadcast, and add proper EF levels. Might take a bit but it’s coming along. All feedback is welcome.

in theory this is an excellent idea so glad u are trying but i agree the visuals need work hope someone with skill can add some visual enhancement.
Ryan Apr 5 @ 3:06pm
I was able to spawn with a bit of testing. And I tried a model swap. While it worked my model wasn't of right size. what is the tornedo size? and what are the textures for? I don't have much experience with blender so if possible explain it simply please. Also a bug i found the distance you set resets after a boot.
YebNFlo  [author] Apr 5 @ 12:32pm
@Ryan Did you try to set the distance too? I set it up too that it will not spawn near you. At 100%, it couldve spawned but it was not near you.

Also been slowly updating the mod on and off, optional radio broadcast and added 5 different ef flavors and option to disable world destruction. Will update when I do more testing.

@YebNFlo despite 100% chance and a blizzard I was unable to make one spawn. is there a way to manually trigger it?
Peanut Feb 6 @ 10:30am
oh my gawd itz april 3rd..................
Ryan Feb 3 @ 7:50pm
The idea is cool. Execution is also good. But the visuals need a little improvement. If the visuals are pleasing I can see this becoming a popular mod.

@Zara @OnlyBonz thanks for the feedback :love_seagull:

@IndustryStandard thats a great idea, adding it to my todo list
IndustryStandard Jan 26 @ 3:29am
I think a worthy addition would be having the automated broadcast pickup tornados too? Or maybe that'd be too much
Ronzy Jan 25 @ 4:01am
Best mod

Ooo This is so cool! I have always been a weather geek in real life. So this?? Right up my alley lol I also like how the conditions have to be juuust right for one to spawn, just like in real life. I'm going to hold off on downloading until B42 is more stable but I have it in my favorites for now!
YebNFlo  [author] Jan 21 @ 1:21am
@Cereal Killah th default spawn requirements require anything above 15 temps, .60 humidity, .70 wind intensity and has a 5% chance to spawn every 10 ingame minutes if those 3 ingame climate stats are above those values. You can tweak those values in sandbox settings. If you need it to spawn more often you would need to lower the climate values and increase the spawn chance in the sandbox settings.
Cereal Killah Jan 20 @ 10:24pm
YebNFlo how do you get one to spawn in SandBox?
Winter Jan 13 @ 1:13pm
OMG ita soo cute the picture UwU
mspenguin1974 Jan 11 @ 9:49am
I like that it's loud, because that is realistic. A nearby tornado sounds like a freight train and will absolutely drown out other sounds. But, I understand why some people would want it quieter. Thanks for taking people's suggestions seriously. You're awesome.
Redacted Jan 11 @ 5:37am
Very Cool! Love the dedication. :)
Love to see what this turns out too in the end. Unique idea.
YebNFlo  [author] Jan 11 @ 3:46am
@Redacted Thanks for the awesome ideas, I really appreciate it! The last update now spawns the tornado far away from the player. The sound design tips are definitely inspiring. I'll have fun experimenting with those. Adding the sandbox idea to my todo list. Thanks again for the the feedback.

Some quick ideas;
- Spawn tornadoes outside the screen, on a random walk path (with a semi-linear direction), to avoid players suddenly seeing them spawn (which is unrealistic).
- Use old video-game samples of tornadoes (e.g. Simcity), and pimp the clean soundfile (real sounds will never be clean, and will allways create loudness and trashy audio). You can do this as follows: Think of a bear roaring, a lion gurgling as he moans, and pig snorting. You add these sounds together, and get an alien. Similarly, add a cheap plastic but clean tornado sample, add some ghastly moans, some kitchen utensils rattling and throw some reverbs and phase shifting on them to create the sense of a 'passing sound'.
- Add sandbox options to use the 'animal pen' areas for example, as a designated area both for tornadoes NOT to spawn, and NOT to pass through (i.e. randomwalk will not 'near' these areas).
YebNFlo  [author] Jan 10 @ 4:46pm
@Autumn thats a good idea

@Dnolli @IronHeadBR Periferico I decreased the volume but I am also looking for a better replacement for the sound. I also increased the spawn radius and chances so they dont spawn right on top of you. I also appreciate the feedback. Further balancing will come as more feedback rolls in

@mspenguin1974 I need more research on how to do volume sandbox settings. But if you need to tweak it right now, there is a mod called Advanced Volume Enabler which allows you to do this not only for this mod but all sounds. I'll prioritize adding more custom sandbox settings in future updates.

@Clyde Cash I would love to see it too. Multiplayer support for b41 could happen once I port this to b41.

@Alyfox thank you for your feeback!
Alyfox Jan 10 @ 2:25pm
That animated image is unnerving but awesome.
mspenguin1974 Jan 10 @ 10:04am
I love it. Though, when it spawns directly behind me it is very startling. I drove right into a tree! lol. Honestly though, sandbox settings to alter volume and distance would be all I could see it really needs to make it perfect. I learned not to stand near outside walls (like in real life, duh) when I got thrown several yards from Cortman Medical. Well done and pretty realistic overall.
Karmesh Jan 10 @ 9:17am
Would love to see this on multiplayer someday. Maybe with spawnable tornadoes by admins for weather events.
IronHeadBR Jan 10 @ 5:19am
although i do like the idea of this mod, turning the volume down of the tornado itself would be appreciated, it is loud, like REALLY loud, and idk if i just had bad luck, but the tornado spawned like 15 tiles away from where i was standing, so it would be nice if the tornado would spawn at a minimal distance away from the player, besides that, it`s a pretty nice mod
Dnolli Jan 9 @ 7:44pm
tornado every 5 mins and loud as hell
Autumn Jan 9 @ 7:43am
suggestion for a 1m+ video of mod :spiffo:
YebNFlo  [author] Jan 8 @ 9:58pm
@BenzyBoy Thank you for the feedback. Sorry to hear that the mod didnt meet your expectations. I will reduce the sound in the next update. Suggestions are always welcome.
BenzyBoy Jan 8 @ 7:01pm
Most unrealistic, non-Stimulating or eventful and atrociously ear piercing mod I've ever installed. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemies...
P.S I expected an actual tornado that trashes the environment or adds risk to me and zombies. Reality is ugly art that puts debris on nearby tiles.
YebNFlo  [author] Jan 8 @ 9:01am
@Autumn its possible, I just need to change some lines. I'll add it to my todo list and work on it.
Autumn Jan 8 @ 7:50am
possible for a B41 port?
Salty_Dalty Jan 7 @ 10:14pm
It honestly it adds an extra fear into the game and like the author says, just rebuild and loot again. I had picked up what I had left and started to move locations (eventually dying by a zed), but I will continue to use it because it adds an extra layer of uncertainty that can help keep this game fresh
meredith999 Jan 7 @ 1:30pm
:)
YebNFlo  [author] Jan 7 @ 10:26am
@meredith999: Fair, this mod isn’t for everyone. Tornadoes aren’t exactly chill.

@Quilava: emotional damage is part of the package

@Salty_Datly: thank you for hating and loving the mod. Build, lose it all, repeat. basement might save you next time.
meredith999 Jan 7 @ 7:51am
exactlly why im not useing this mod
Quilava Jan 7 @ 6:38am
Bro just want to hurt people ... emotionally, like the game isnt hard enough :sad_seagull:
Salty_Dalty Jan 7 @ 1:39am
I love and hate this mod. I found a base, collected so much stuff and supplies, started to build a fence around the base and then BAM. Tornado ripped through the entire house destroying everything I worked for. Well done sir, well done.
YebNFlo  [author] Jan 6 @ 6:54pm
@American Yes, spawn frequency can change in custom sandbox settings
American Jan 6 @ 5:38pm
can the settings like how often they spawn be changed?
also can you add more rubble and debris for when a Tornado runs through a building or road.
YebNFlo  [author] Jan 6 @ 10:48am
@Jack Rossman thats a good idea
Jack Rossman Jan 6 @ 1:48am
Heyo. Promising mod for realism.
Thoughts on adding tornado sirens to the rooftops of fire stations and on poles around the map?
They'd probably require power to work, and would attract zombies. Only kicking on when a tornado's on its way.
Anyhoo, keep up the great work!
Redacted Jan 3 @ 10:17am
This is quite sick. Will download, but I want to avoid this thing destroying my base...
Manwer Jan 1 @ 9:20pm
@Leader of the Zakonistians if you don't know what BBC is you should try google it ;P
Great mod by the way
