@BeautifulRnr Yeah, I’m not a Blender pro either. Got the current model from Sketchfab. Really appreciate the feedback.
@Pass9786 Brandenburg is awesome, love the tornado bunker there.
I added a new video showing what the tornado looks like now, the old model isn’t used anymore. I’m planning to update the screenshots too.
Fixed some bugs and added a few more features. I am planning to add more tweaks to the mechanics, add the radio broadcast, and add proper EF levels. Might take a bit but it’s coming along. All feedback is welcome.
Also been slowly updating the mod on and off, optional radio broadcast and added 5 different ef flavors and option to disable world destruction. Will update when I do more testing.
@IndustryStandard thats a great idea, adding it to my todo list
Love to see what this turns out too in the end. Unique idea.
- Spawn tornadoes outside the screen, on a random walk path (with a semi-linear direction), to avoid players suddenly seeing them spawn (which is unrealistic).
- Use old video-game samples of tornadoes (e.g. Simcity), and pimp the clean soundfile (real sounds will never be clean, and will allways create loudness and trashy audio). You can do this as follows: Think of a bear roaring, a lion gurgling as he moans, and pig snorting. You add these sounds together, and get an alien. Similarly, add a cheap plastic but clean tornado sample, add some ghastly moans, some kitchen utensils rattling and throw some reverbs and phase shifting on them to create the sense of a 'passing sound'.
- Add sandbox options to use the 'animal pen' areas for example, as a designated area both for tornadoes NOT to spawn, and NOT to pass through (i.e. randomwalk will not 'near' these areas).
@Dnolli @IronHeadBR Periferico I decreased the volume but I am also looking for a better replacement for the sound. I also increased the spawn radius and chances so they dont spawn right on top of you. I also appreciate the feedback. Further balancing will come as more feedback rolls in
@mspenguin1974 I need more research on how to do volume sandbox settings. But if you need to tweak it right now, there is a mod called Advanced Volume Enabler which allows you to do this not only for this mod but all sounds. I'll prioritize adding more custom sandbox settings in future updates.
@Clyde Cash I would love to see it too. Multiplayer support for b41 could happen once I port this to b41.
@Alyfox thank you for your feeback!
P.S I expected an actual tornado that trashes the environment or adds risk to me and zombies. Reality is ugly art that puts debris on nearby tiles.
@Quilava: emotional damage is part of the package
@Salty_Datly: thank you for hating and loving the mod. Build, lose it all, repeat. basement might save you next time.
also can you add more rubble and debris for when a Tornado runs through a building or road.
Thoughts on adding tornado sirens to the rooftops of fire stations and on poles around the map?
They'd probably require power to work, and would attract zombies. Only kicking on when a tornado's on its way.
Anyhoo, keep up the great work!
Great mod by the way
