No, not really. I go in the mod direction primarily due to Central Europe Village packs by Quieklebendig. I will also use the Tiny heating plant by robs07 to solve heating for small villages and Trafostation - Electric Substation & Switch by Bref because vanilla switches absolutely don't fit the aesthetics of rural countryside. Apart from that, I don't really intend to use anything else. Readability of the map is still the primary concern. That being said, with the amount of work I have right now, I will definitely not get to it earlier than October :(
traincz Jul 28 @ 10:24pm
I hope it won't be modded too much, I personally like the use of only vanilla buildings.

Heaps of notices about things wrong in the towns.
Kenobi  [author] Jun 19 @ 9:50am
Yes, definitely! I am planning to release a version reflecting late 1940s (I would do 30s but I just don't have the maps from that era). I am working on it at the moment. I will add some desperately needed mods and replace the modernist buildings with the old ones from the DLC. I plan to make it as a definitive version of the map. Not really sure when it will be done, though.
traincz Jun 18 @ 12:34pm
Are there any plans for an early start version?
Jabba DV Jun 5 @ 12:43pm
Is there a unpopuleted version of the map (roads, rail can stay) ?
Kenobi  [author] May 23 @ 7:16am
Hey, I plan to make a reworked separate 1930s version of the map using both workshop mods as well as new assets from the DLC sometime in the future. I will also look into updating it to make it compatible with the new DLC in its current form, provided it will then not become dependant on having the DLC as I still want to keep this pure vanilla. I haven't had a look at the DLC yet, so no idea how it works in this regard.
traincz May 22 @ 11:59am
Great map. I'd love some kind of an older version compatible with the early start DLC.
Blake May 20 @ 9:25am
Do you have an empty map version?
KnightElite Jan 5 @ 6:50pm
Thanks again for the great map. I just finished my 50 year playthrough of it on realistic mode, and posted a video about it here: https://youtu.be/Zspz9vF54xo?si=b0UBcZWS5QTu9imB

Hey, I released a new (and hopefully - as far as large patches are concerned - last) version of the map. Třebíč is now fixed and should allow a start there. I have also decided to finally include fire helicopters so a progress is not hampered by a random fire at an electricity switch or a railway station. For changes, see the changelog.

I have done some minimal testing for Třebíč but decided to release it as it is because with my timetable, I would playtest it fully by mid-december at best. If you point me to any new issues, I can fix them very quickly. Thanks!

Havran00 Oct 18, 2024 @ 1:00pm
Jsi neuveritelny kral, borec a frajer. w Workersech me vzdycky strasne demotivovalo zacinat vsechno od nuly, a ty jsi to vyresil. Jeste jsem nekoukal na videa ale mam dve otazky: planujes udelat verzi i s zemedelstvim?
A druha otazka. Chapu, ze vsechny mesta a vesnice krome Trebice na mape fungujou, a kdzy tam dam lidi, takl budou vyrabet, vozit a celkove mi nechcipnou hlady a nebudou jenom sedet doma, nic nedelat a brecet, ze to maji do obchodu 501 metru a to je moc daleko?

A no jeste treti, kolik ti zabralo to vsechno udelat? Muzeme v budoucnu cekat funkcni celou mapu?

I'm amazed. I simply looking those trains running across the beautiful country side. Too scared to touch anything, I let the mini world run itself. I don't want to break the spell that it's not real. Most wonderful map I've ever seen!
Kenobi  [author] Sep 25, 2024 @ 4:27am
Hi, Wombat. I respect preference for blank maps but as far as this map is concerned, I think saying everything is finished is bit of a misconception. I don't know whether you played the map for at least for two in-game years (by that time it should become apparent), but there is a difference between having a functioning city and having a functioning city capable of producing something. On the map, there are three bottlenecks - having gravel and concrete in a village where trucks take some time to get to, inability to unload aggregates to a storage, and lastly the starting city being in the middle of the map, which means that any import needs to be done well in advance because of longer transport times. This results in, at least in my opinion, the actual expansion being harder to do than on a blank map where construction trucks rarely go more than 1 km to border to get the resources needed. The challenges here are different to blank maps, but it is really not as easy as it looks.
Nachtom Sep 24, 2024 @ 1:46pm
Exactly, Flanders. I play only populated maps with hardest and realistic setting. Until recently I actually never started a new town from a scratch. Once I tried it - I must say that I don't understand why would people start on empty maps - it's easy mode. It's so simple to plan stuff on empty grassland, deal with population only after you feel like it's ready, etc. Why would anyone bother, there is no challenge in that. :lunar2019piginablanket:
Flanders Sep 24, 2024 @ 11:17am
W0mbat the reason why some players gravitate toward this style of map is precisely because there is already some pre-existing, albeit lacking, infrastructure. These pre-populated maps help you feel more like you're a communist leader taking over a backward country and improving it with better infrastructure and industry. You can take and reshape the towns and villages into what you have in mind and bring 'prosperity' to your people. It's a fun concept, it just takes getting used to. A lot of people are more interested in this sort of organic feeling gameplay, versus building up a new city in the middle of nowhere with zero precedent for why or how.
W0mbat Sep 24, 2024 @ 9:30am
I dont understand the point of these completely developed maps. It defeats the purpose of even playing the game. This is just a save file with everything already done. If the map was a blank canvas with nothing available it may be different but everything is done from lines to available resources and vehicles.
Dodi_ Sep 10, 2024 @ 9:09am
Please make an unpopulated version.
Luca_K04 Sep 2, 2024 @ 10:24am
This is an absolutely incredible piece of work, it is probably the most detailed and visually beautiful map in the WRSR workshop.
I can't wait to test it.
I would like to add among the recommended mods, in addition to "better trees", also "improved customs".
Kenobi  [author] Sep 1, 2024 @ 12:14pm
Last update before I get to fix Třebíč released. Brtnice and Opatov remade, some other changes made (please see the changelog).
Kenobi  [author] Aug 25, 2024 @ 11:03pm
Fixed Okříšky railway station by adding an aggregate unloading and an oil loading/unloading. I assumed all the cargo types can be unloaded by trucks at rail cargo station which was not the case as it only works with dry bulk. Now the station should work as intended.
KnightElite Aug 25, 2024 @ 9:25pm
Thanks for the update; looking forward to trying the map out now!

Those are different Přibyslavice than in KCD. But if anyone would want to make similar thing with Sazawa Valley, it's still for grabs. :D
Kenobi  [author] Aug 22, 2024 @ 5:35pm
Hey, I got briefly back to testing and read some reactions and yeah, waste and water are currently definitely not working as intended. I must have done my testing without them on. Shameful, really. I am working on fixing it, hotfix will come most likely on Sunday. Apologies for that.

@ Neuron and Ringo: Glad to hear that! If you have any tips for any landmarks or important things I have omitted and you think should be included (I am not really from the region), let me know.
Nachtom Aug 22, 2024 @ 2:47pm
@pollomacho Once I noticed Henry walking around Přibyslavice (north of Okříšky), ordering what should be built there. Fortunately, my construction offices didn't listen to him. :kcdhorse: :happy_creep:

Amazing work

posílám poděkování z Třebíče. míra některých detailů je neuvěřitelná!
Kenobi  [author] Aug 20, 2024 @ 10:03am
@Ham and RiCZrd: I understand and this point has been raised several times. Unfortunately, I want to refrain from doing blank version as my enjoyment in this mapbuilding stemmed from recreating the region in its entirety and human activity shapes not only the cities, but the countryside also. Secondly, I personally don't like playing on unpopulated maps, so this undermines any initiative to do it too. Also, north-east of the map is very sparsely inhabited and has all the resources too so the "colonisation" starts should be possible there. That being said, provided I am properly credited and a link to this map included, I have no issues with anyone creating a blank version of this map and releasing it on the Workshop!

@Nachtom: glad to hear that! And a little sad about the lost on pause thing as one of my goals was to make it as easy as possible to enter and not overwhelming at all (that is also largely why no mods are used) :D
PanSer Aug 20, 2024 @ 8:47am

Nachtom Aug 20, 2024 @ 7:28am
...and I have to add that those showcase videos you made actually really helped - not the way you think tho. I didn't like the idea of starting on predetermined location. But you provided that extra lore of the area and it really made sense even historically to start there. I kinda started to care more about these villages and found their purpose thanks to their history you explained in videos. :selike:
Nachtom Aug 20, 2024 @ 7:23am
For realism, this is the best map, because it's more realistic that in 1960 you get to lead an already existing republic, not discover a new continent to build on. :happy_creep: It's also more realistic than normal populated map thanks to infrastructure. (although rail could be wooden instead of concrete one)

Gameplay-wise I was kinda lost on pause for the first few hours - I was looking around thinking what to do. It's quite overwhelming to start with basic infrastructure and try to understand what someone else built before you. But I don't consider it too easy, because you need to rebuild and upgrade everything. It feels like a whole different game and I love it. :lunar2019piginablanket:

I recommend upgrading basic infrastructure before turning on population. That means to set all constructions to not accept workers outside of CO. Also, the same with demolition! (that's how I messed up and activated town before having functional utilities :milsonsad:)
Oskutin Aug 20, 2024 @ 3:46am
I say, instead of creeping from the border, the goal is to modernize, urbanize and to grow the region.
|HTD| Ham Aug 20, 2024 @ 3:18am
Really beautiful map. Its fun to throw some people on it and make things work. But for realism player there is not mutch things to do. Especially if you got research turned on. It would be really nice to have a clean map to play it from the beginning.
RiCZrd Aug 20, 2024 @ 12:05am
Opravdu hezká mapa. Ale uvítal bych variantu bez infrastruktury. Tedy bez mostů, kolejí, cest, chodníků a budov. Jen čistou mapy se jmény míst a lokací. Díky.
c1MKEvBZ Aug 19, 2024 @ 4:24pm
I really think that investing hundreds of hours on terrain work, details and research for this kind of realistic maps is to be considered some kind of art, and you have certainly excel at. Congrats from Chile!
Oskutin Aug 19, 2024 @ 12:16pm
@Kenobi
You could use my border set to eliminate border stations. The set contains stretch of road and railroad, what function as custom houses with insane load and unloading factors.

I originally made this mod for my map, to simulate traffic and connection to the rest of the country.
Dolbadarn Aug 19, 2024 @ 11:19am
Greetings from the UK! Excellent choice of location and craftsmanship given the limitations of the terrain editor. Good compromises for enjoyable gameplay as explained in your videos. Superb perseverance to complete and publish this map, you have definitely raised the bar for all WRSR map-makers. Thank you!

Best of luck to you, Oskutin! I wish your troubleshooting is not as nightmarish as mine was. Thanks to everyone for their warm words!

This is great!
I'm releasing soon-ish a map with similar concept (once I get the last remaining assets done).

I've never visited the Czech Republic or Slovakia, so I can't comment on the realism from that perspective, but in the context of WRSR, this is probably the most beautiful and detailed map I've ever seen. It's not just the fact you've made villages, towns, and even a city. It's not that you've done it without mods. It's the fact it feels - in the framework of the game itself - made something that feels quintessentially European, with an earnest attention to detail. Even just looking at the Wikipedia entry for Třebíč and the modern aerial photograph attached, it feels so faithful despite the limitations of the game. Like several others have said, I'm going to start over again to play this map. Absolutely worth the word "masterpiece" as said by Nachtom.
