I was getting into creating my own mods for Terraria- starting with the idea of adding more spears, mechanics, and accessories but I gave up when I saw someone already had a better vision! Love it!

anyone know how change the weakpoint spawn interval? Like making it from every 10 seconds to every 3 seconds. The mod doesn't have a config so I'm kinda at a loss

really cool mod, do you think it'd be possible to rework the daybreak to be a spear that fires on rightclick? feels kinda weird just having the north pole as the final spear and no pillar weapon or ML drop

Projectiles created by "true melee" hits will activate weakpoints, however.

I think I've found the issue. Calamity has an offshoot of melee damage called "true melee", which specifically applies to vanilla weapons that don't fire projectiles. You making it so that weakpoints are only triggered by melee damage may not be counting true melee.

I really like the mod, the changes to spear gameplay are amazing, there's just one thing I'm missing, more spears at certain points in the game. It's not that there are big emphy gaps in the progression, but I feel there aren't any "attractive" options.

The spears of hardmode minerals are good, but they aren't "WOW" just... normal spears. A Slime Queen crystal spear that throws crystal shards on hit and the Daybrak being considered a spear would be great additions.

Give extra effects to "normal" spears works too.

No. Because they really don't have any range benefit to any other weapon their price still the shortest weapons in the game. I'd slow down their tack pattern but give them much more range and make it so that he gets a bunch of knock back

Not sure how they failed to make them spears. It feels pretty much exactly like what a spear should be, fishing for a weak point and poking for critical damage. I think it's perfect.

I really like the uniqueness of the mod, but in a real scenario with modded bosses, it becomes quite unusable. The weakpoints are way to unforgiving, hitting them during a boss fight is near impossible especially on bosses that move very fast. But still its fun to use, but not on par with other classes still.

Works great with spear overhaul, but why the crit dmg is so high?
Around 234 crit dmg for early game spears, literally 2shoted the eye of cthulhu with 2 heavy sings of the storm spear, its some mod adding damage?

My apologies if this has been brought up (and considering that it's probably another to add to the pile of bugs involving Calamity.) This is an odd quirk i've encountered involving the Spear Rework mod.

Right now from what it looks like, spears with the "True Melee" damage type do not cause weakpoint damage, while spears with the normal melee damage type appears to act as intended with hitting weakpoints.

One of your mods might tweak the spear item and remove the spear flag from it, there is nothing I can do about it on my end sadly :/

Unsure if bug or oversight, but ironically the regular "Spear" spear does not correctly trigger weakpoints for me. I have tested and have not been able to find which mod might conflict with this, but other spears work as intended. Running Calamity + Fargo's.

- Weakpoints cannot be triggered by non melee damage (such as summons) anymore
- Fixed display issues with mods that do not restore the Main Spritebatch to its usual state after modifying it

This is a really cool mod! However, theres a slight bug caused by mod compatibility (that took me about 3 hours to find the culprit...) Basically the starlight river mod creates a small pulsing green aura around the player when there are mannequins nearby and it is day time (I know, very random) but this mod makes the aura offset from the player in proportion to the zoom of the screen. Basically when zoomed in the aura becomes completely left-side of the player and its really distracting. Would you know why this could be happening? Is this mod tampering with the particles and effects logic?

HI, this is more curiosity than anything, but I was wondering if this mod works with modded spears like the elemental lance from calamity? or is it dependent on what you designate as a "spear" in the mods code?

see, the way i feel about rare drops from (common) monsters is that they shouldn't be the basis for builds, but that they're a neat thing that you have a chance of finding and that may end up changing your playstyle for a bit after you find them
i feel like this is particularly the case with pre hardmode (especially when you're still in the ore armors), as the class distinctions haven't really settled in yet
using exclusively one kind of weapon from start to finish in terraria doesn't *actually* make sense for players to do, its more of a challenge type thing

I'll give you another perspective on droprates
a 1% droprate means you have to kill 230 eater of souls to have 90% chance of having obtained at least one vile pike, and the 99% chance comes at 459 kills
This means more than 1 in 10 player has to kill over 200 eater of souls with a trident, which is kinda nonsense
To put things in perspective, with the current number of downloads the mod has, it's over 600 persons that would be bound to have a terrible experience farming for this weapon

a 5% droprate puts the 90 - 99 percentiles at 45 and 90 kills respectively
2% would be 114 and 228
0.5% would be 460 and 919

As a rule of thumb, I'd rather have a droprate that's too high and lower it based on feedback than the opposite, since it being too low is a LOT more frustrating than too high, where the items can be sold or trashed

Hopefully I didn't do math mistakes lol

I would set it to somewhere between 2.5% and 1%. Maybe even 0.5%.
Part of why I got so many may be because I'm playing on the dontdigup seed, and many EoS spawn on the surface.
That said, 5% means 1 in 20 EoS will drop a Vile Pike, which seems a bit high even on a regular world.

The Vile Pike has a 5% droprate from Eater of Souls and Devourers
I'll lower it a bit, but it's a hard balance to find :/

Please add a spear that can be used to fight Ice Queen. She's too hard and tedious to beat with a Chlorophyte partisan.

Please make North Pole stronger against single targets OR add another spear to fight Moon Lord with (Preferably one that is true melee like previous spears).

My god this mod is great, finally some love for the forgotten pointy stick, the finest weapon in the history of mankind
We definitely need some form of cross-mod support so that any other mods that add spear-type weapons could fall into the spear category for these buffs and weakpoint mechanics, thank you so much for making spears so fun and engaging to use!!

i think it would be a nice change if you make it so that weak points don't disaper when not using a spear and just become unuseble
