First rule of debugging anything is complain about it online...
This one seemed to be related to some edge case that could happen if the Donghak Peasant Rebellion ended at a specific point in the week. It'd trip up the logic meant to track who actually committed armies to the rebellion war since the journal wouldn't close before the next week tick in some situations.
Got sidetracked with something else the past couple of weeks & I'm having to rework some of the existing contents to work with the treaties in a nicer fashion.
When is the update coming? ㅜㅜ I can’t play Victoria 3 without this mod.
Like with the 1.8 update, there will be no new major content updates - it will be focused on compatibility. Any new content will be for the sake of accommodating any fundamental base game changes, such as with the new Sedo Aristocracy interest group.
Vic3 1.9 will release this coming Tuesday. As with previous major updates, a 1.9 update for this mod may take several weeks or months because I am a solo developer with a full-time job working 10+ hours Monday through Thursday. Progress during the work week will be rather slow, and I have over two dozen mods to check & verify whether anything needs to be changed, and then make any necessary changes.
The upcoming tweaks to certain things like decisions and scripted buttons will mean that more of my mods will be impacted this time around, so it may take quite some time.
Please be patient while I work on updating all of my mods. Thank you!
“Damn... it's really starting to feel more and more like history itself. You are truly an honorary Korean and a patriot. That just shows how much harder independence has become. LOL”
Originally, there was some ideology-related smoke & mirrors happening to facilitate the Sedo Politics content, particularly to stop the Yangban Officials from supporting a move off of Sedo Aristocracy and onto Autocracy.
With political movements (especially the Absolutist movement) now messing with how new character ideologies appear for IGs, I figured the most mod-compatible and future-proof way to portray this now was with a completely custom interest group that nobody else would be messing with.
This update was primarily for 1.8 functionality, so there's no new (major) content... other than a new Sedo Aristocrats interest group that will be present in Korea at the start of the game until the Sedo Politics journal is resolved. The Sedo Politics JE now focuses on dis-empowering this new IG as opposed to the Yangban Officials.
Please let me know if you find any issues or if you have any comments! I will get started on the next major content update some time in the near future.
The changelog is a bit log but I will try to have it published in the change notes section soon.
Honestly, it's not an exaggeration to say that this mod is the reason I even installed and play the game.
Although it's a bit disappointing that the Korean translation isn't perfect, I deeply appreciate the creator’s effort and dedication in accurately portraying Korean history from abroad.
Thanks to this mod, I think I’ll keep playing Victoria 3 for a long time.
I'm really looking forward to what you’ll do next. Please keep up the amazing work!
The 1.8 update will likely require having the Community Mod Framework installed due to conflicting changes related to ideologies and movements that I'm forced to make.
I may try to make an effort to include the relevant files with KFP so an extra download is not needed, but I do not know how complicated that will be at the moment, so don't be surprised if KFP suddenly requires having CMF installed when the update is out.
I don't think there are any major content conflicts like SoI had, so the technical compatibility update should be relatively quick & straightforward. Beware that it still may take me a couple of weeks depending on my motivation/focus and my work schedule.
The next content update will take much longer, so please do not get too disappointed!
I would like to reiterate that you can come join the Vic3 Modding Co-op Discord [discord.com]. Get yourself verified, then visit the KFP thread [discord.com] to see the latest development progress.
Thank you for your continued patience! 🙇♂️
As you may have noticed, I maintain a lot of different mods. Some game updates touch more things than one might think, so there tends to end up being more rework needed than you might expect 😅 I'm currently working on updating LLWA (my infrastructure mod) and it's been taking a while due to needing to address some core logic issues after 1.8 arrived...
KFP is probably be worked on towards the end of the list since (A) extra time is probably needed to do a sweep for outdated things since this mod does a lot of things, and (B) the other major mods I have will [probably] take less time to update, so it'd be better to focus on those first, I think.
I'm active in both the official Vic3 and the Vic3 Modding Co-op Discord servers so if you ever have any questions or are curious about what I'm working on, feel free to come find me!
Decided to take an impromptu break over the holidays, but I'm hoping to get back into modding again soon. Still have a bunch of stuff I need to work through.
Not sure what else needs fixing since I've not done a manual check of what's wrong yet.
I don't know if I will make Donghak a separate religion yet; depends on what I plan to do with it at large. If I don't have much of a need for a separate religion then I'll probably not make it one considering that fracturing pops incurs a performance penalty.
Just FYI I will be busy with family things for the whole of this week, so I will not be able to get a 1.8 version out (or do a 1.8 compatibility check on the existing version) for launch day or for several days following the update. Sorry for any inconveniences this might cause.
The modifier rework that came with 1.7 has changes that are largely invisible to the player, but some critical changes to file structure made by PDX meant that any mod that had modifiers before the rework now suddenly do not. If you try to look at a country's panel (including yours) and that country was given an old, now-invalid modifier, the game will instantly crash.
I'm fairly certain KFP shouldn't be the culprit, especially if this crash is happening only when trying to access your country panel as opposed to something like crashing on a specific date.
Thank you for your patience.
Please read the changelog for a list of changes, because A LOT of new content and tweaks have been made, including brand new Sino-Japanese War events, improved Donghak Peasant Rebellion content, new Imo Incident content, and more!
As always, if you find any issues, please report them to me and I will try to have it fixed. Thank you!
