Update: Jul 27, 2024 @ 4:24pm

1.5.5
The Tenacious People journal entry now transitions away from using the Autonomous Tributary modifier after the Donghak Peasant Rebellion is resolved. This is a temporary measure until the content that's actually supposed to drive this transition is implemented.

Update: Jul 27, 2024 @ 3:25am

1.5.4
Still not fully 1.7-compatible - duplicate content coverage with SoI has not been addressed
  • Added new "Jeonjeong Tax Policies" journal entry
    • Purpose of it is to add some dividends taxes to make the tax collections efforts in the Sedo Politics journal have an actual gameplay impact since the 1.7 changes to ownership and pop types makes it such that aristocrats do not pay any taxes other than consumption, per capita, and dividends taxes
    • Adds modifiers that add flat, small land & per capita tax rates and a dividends tax rate
    • Journal closes out upon enacting Proportional or Graduated Taxation
  • Added new "A Tenacious People" journal entry
    • Is active any time Korea is subjugated by someone
    • Has certain modifiers that become active depending on Korea's tech progress and who the overlord is
    • Generally makes it harder to lower Korea's autonomy and easier for Korea to gain liberty desire
    • Special modifier for Korea subjugated by Qing China which makes it difficult for the liberty desire to move to reflect historical relations
    • Future mod content will drive some narrative text in this journal entry
  • Korea now starts with Migration Controls
  • Fixed the "Queen Dowager" title not being used for Sunwon in the country selection screen and on day 1 of new games
  • The Promote Administrative Reforms button in the Sedo Politics JE now correctly checks that the law you're currently moving away from is Sedo Aristocracy
  • Added a modifier to significantly lower political movement radicalism to the Clan Dominance modifier for the Sedo Politics JE to prevent cheesing your way into Autocracy (or other DoP law) by means of radical political movements
  • Lowered the Sedo Politics JE's SoL reduction by 1 (from -5 to -4)
  • Closed Borders will now be enforced onto Korea if they lose the Donghak Peasant Rebellion war
  • Yangho should no longer be unincorporated after the Donghak Peasant Rebellion war is concluded
  • Yangho now gets a temporary modifier to block the enormous radicals from decreases in SoL spike after the Donghak Peasant Rebellion war concludes
  • Any allies you receive support from during the Donghak Peasant Rebellion war will now have their war support bolstered to keep them from capitulating if Korea still has 0+ war support remaining
  • Gabo Reforms police journal now checks to make sure you do not have No Police nor Local Police instead of checking for Dedicated Police or Militarized Police specifically to improve mod compatibility (especially with BPM)
  • The Independence Club (Intelligentsia) now receive the Constitutionalist ideology rather than Republican
  • Gwangmu army & navy JEs now require barracks and naval bases to not use their first tier PMs
  • Fixed Gwangmu Reforms empire JE progress not ticking up if you meet any of the other requirements besides proclaiming the empire
  • Empire reward decision in the Gwangmu Reforms completion event logic tweaked to include new edge cases, including Amur
  • Diplomacy reward decision in the Gwangmu Reforms completion event now adds bonuses related to leverage and positive diplomatic catalysts to relevant foreign nations
  • Changed logic for the deaths of Heonjong (Yi Hwan) and Cheoljong (Yi Byeon) - instead of a flat 0.05% monthly chance of dying before their historical death date, they now have exponential curves which rise from roughly ~2% monthly when they take power to 50% monthly odds of dying 1 year before their historical death
    • The flat 90% chance of them dying on or after their historical death dates has not been changed
  • Added a failsafe to regenerate Gojong as heir if his regency is ongoing but Gojong himself somehow vanishes or dies (usually as a result of revolutions)
  • Changed regency completion event such that if Yi Ha-eung (Gojong's regent) is made the leader of his IG, the old leader will become an agitator instead of dying
  • Righteous Army decision will no longer appear during civil wars
  • Righteous Army modifier has been tweaked to bolster the benefits while also increasing the military goods cost to 33%
  • Tweaked the special Korea-specific AI strategies to add pro-independence weights

Potential known issue: Gaining independence as Korea without someone liberating you or transferring you as a subject to someone else other than China may be unreasonably difficult due to the special modifier that severely hampers Liberty Desire adjustments; quick fix will be pushed tomorrow, but for the time being you'll need to sit tight unless someone liberates you, someone makes you their subject, or China shatters

Update: Jul 8, 2024 @ 6:34pm

Bare minimum update for 1.7 functionality - no effort has been made to resolve conflicts with regards to overlapping content between KFP and the SoI DLC (especially the Donghak Peasant Rebellion events). Use at your own risk.

  • Fixed issue where Sunjong (Yi Cheok) would not be born caused by logic error added in 1.4.0
    • Third-party modders: historical Korean kings will no longer have a variable indicating if they're Gojong, Sunjong, or Yi Un; please check for these characters via the has_template check instead

1.5.0
  • Created a new Distribution of Power law: Sedo Aristocracy
    • Korea now starts with this law instead of Oligarchy
    • Contains similar maluses to some of the political maluses attached to the Sedo Politics journal; the journal's maluses have been scaled down to compensate
    • The Sedo Governance ideology now strongly supports this law and is neutral to Oligarchy
    • The law disappears for the remainder of the game once an alternative is enacted
  • Added new IG ideology: Anti-Aristocratic
    • All IGs besides the Landowners (Yangban Officials), Devout (Confucian Scholars), and Intelligentsia (Silhak Scholars) gain this ideology at game start
    • It strongly opposes Sedo Aristocracy and supports laws like Autocracy, Technocracy, Wealth Voting, and Census Suffrage
    • IGs with this ideology will lose it upon completion of the Sedo Politics journal
  • The Sedo Politics journal has been updated to use Sedo Aristocracy instead of Oligarchy where relevant
  • The Sedo Politics journal now requires Sedo Aristocracy to not be enacted for completion
  • Added two new buttons to the Sedo Politics journal

    • "Assert Central Authority" -> Allows you to use 500 Political Power to automatically enact Autocracy if the current ruler is King Gojong, is Heungseon Daewongun, or has one of three autocratic ideologies, and if Sedo Aristocracy is still enacted, bypassing the need to go through the law enactment cycle
  • Tweaked Korea's special clone of the Promote Liberal Reforms AI strategy to be a little more capable and willing to enact reforms based on tweaks found in Kuromi's AI mod v1.2
  • Homer Hulbert now requires Isolationism and Closed Borders to NOT be active in order to be able to spawn as an agitator

Update: May 18, 2024 @ 1:56pm

  • Fixed issue with Yi dynasty character generation stemming from a variable being set improperly during the 'Ascension of King Gojong' event
  • Homer Hulbert and An Jung-geun should no longer have clothing conflicts if they're turned into generals
  • The 'Shining and Martial' event (Gwangmu Reforms completion event) options have been tweaked:
    • The empire option now determines the claims to give based on Manchu and Japanese homelands, which should make the mod more compatible with mods that make changes to the map
    • The diplomacy option now gives a relations boost with all Great Powers and any country with a strategic adjacency to you
