The icon is meant to represent the flag of the modern Republic of China, not any particular political party therein. I certainly don't know enough about internal Taiwanese politics to comment on any particular political party.

The comment about Taiwan retaking control of China was an absurd joke, but I'll grant that it was sending the wrong message.

My criteria for adding a nation to this mod was almost entirely based around whether I could find a good Style mod to integrate with it. The Combined Logistics Command mod fit the criteria so I decided to add some Taiwan representation. I have since removed this integration as comments from people with a better knowledge of the region suggested that the imagery wasn't really very fitting.

The Structure itself remains, as there's no harm in simply representing Taiwan here.

Of course, if you think Taiwan is not an independent country whose people should be allowed to govern themselves, then I suggest you take such posturing elsewhere.

@Mort Strudel, personally, I think the mod can be improved if you change 'Taiwanese origin' to something like 'Nationalist Chinese' origin. The Taiwanese spirit is no longer about taking back China or to reunify, but to be a free country independent from PRC.

However, the mod seems to be going for the old ROC focus, which would make more sense if it was about 'Nationalist Chinese', not 'Taiwanese'.

Hi, Taiwanese person here! As you already know, Taiwanese politics is a sensitive and a controversial topic, so I will keep everything as objective as possible, from the perspective of a native.

In the past, the ROC government learned towards the idea of one unified China, but that idea needs either the PRC or ROC to disappear, which was very hard to negotiate. But we're way past 1950s, and now the majority of people wants to keep our freedom of speech, democracy, etc.

But as a Taiwanese, I think I can speak on behalf of everyone that we wish to stay in the current neutral situation where nothing is concrete and has room for negotiation. Like everyone in the world, we are all scared of war.

The idea of 'Taiwanese Nationalism' in this mod isn't very accurate in modern terms. It's an idea mainly from the 1950s when KChiang Kai-Shek was still around (And trust me, nobody likes Chiang Kai-Shek. He's known as a dictator even in Taiwan.), but it's just a mod, so whatever.

@dopamine terrorist As a westerner I have only a dim understanding of the cultural situation in Taiwan, but from what limited searching I did (to make sure I wasn't including anything horribly offensive in a different cultural context) the position of the government is firmly in the Republic of China angle, but there's a growing Taiwanese nationalism movement throughout the country as new generations become more culturally distant from the mainland, and just want the PRC to fuck off and let them be their own country.

But I don't claim to really understand the cultural nuances of a region I've never even been to. If a ROC national wants to weigh in, they'd be a much better source than I ever could.
