I made Boarbrass more valuable, given the labor-intensive process. This makes Boarbrass a rather fancy material. So you can now increase the value of Pig Iron and Brass by combining it into Boarbrass and crafting that instead!

Brass = 7
Pig Iron = 10
Silver = 10
Boarbrass = 20
Gold = 30

I should also note that the latest version is now 2.0, whereas before I had accidentally set previous versions to like version 5120 or something. The versioning is corrected now, and it will show as 2.0+

Yay :praisesun:

Added baby and child graphics. Enjoy!

By the way, is normal for the errorlog to be spamming about a missing token of boarth hair? I hope this doesn't affect fps. But hey what about updating the new sprites for children and babies?
Tapioka Feb 23 @ 2:52am
I liked the boarths very much, in my world gen they had a fierce war against goblins that caused the latter almost going extinct. Actually it did sound more like a big alliance worldwide against the goblins, orcs and other evil creatures.

Glad you guys like Boarbrass! It's interesting to see it on Boarth. In my game recently, I'm playing as my Jotnar, and so I've had a few Boarth thieves come in wearing Boarbrass.
Fantastic Fwoosh Oct 7, 2024 @ 11:06am
Ill be watching with interest when i can pull myself away from smithing fine boarbrass statue for my guildhalls and temples. Thanks for the speedy fix!
ArchTerran Oct 6, 2024 @ 10:31pm
You have fixed the problem. Thank you for your time & for listening to us.
I'm interested in specializing in making boarbrass production.

Wonder if you or others would be able to spitball unique products for your other races as well.
TwinCrows  [author] Oct 5, 2024 @ 11:23pm
Come to think of it, the bug that i just fixed was likely around since I made my Boarth portrait update. Ah... the joys of mod making.
TwinCrows  [author] Oct 5, 2024 @ 11:20pm
Aha! Think I got the snag now. I had dumbly been including some old files from way long ago of the Boarth. I think I may have been delivering the wrong files for a few weeks. That's why it wasn't working for you, but it was working for me.

51.47 should work nicely for everyone. Enjoy!
ArchTerran Oct 5, 2024 @ 6:16pm
Only this one race you've made btw. All others work just fine
ArchTerran Oct 5, 2024 @ 6:08pm
Got to test it, I deleted all my worlds & the 2 mod folders, & after doing a new game session with just this mod enabled with the latest version it still has them as floating heads.
TwinCrows  [author] Oct 5, 2024 @ 1:56pm
I just put through version 51.46 (apologies for the versioning on Boarth).

In addition to hopefully solving the graphics bugs (let me know if you see them still, as I don't) I've added the first special recipe!

Boarth can now make ++BOARBRASS++. This is a new material metal which can only be smelted when playing as a Boarth civilization, but can be found on traders if not. Dwarves can smith with it, but not smelt it themselves.

Boarbrass is smelted from Brass + Pig Iron. It has the qualities of pig iron, with added value from the brass. The particular significance of Boarbrass is economic rather than quality — not only does it add special purpose to Pig iron, but it also allows brass (normally a decorative metal) to be used bar-for-bar for weapons and armor.

Graphically, the brass color is applied to weapons and armor, which you don't see in vanilla. Boarbrass looks suitably decorative and simple, perfect for Boarth royal guards.

Cheers and happy birthday to your pa!
ArchTerran Oct 5, 2024 @ 1:27pm
I can give it a go when I come home later. Currently leaving town to celebrate my dads birthday.

Thanks for the mods :dis2_Rozalin:
TwinCrows  [author] Oct 5, 2024 @ 12:20pm
I like your suggestion Fwoosh, I really like the idea of integrating Pig Iron into their cultural specialities. I think it would be quite interesting to give them something that only Boarth can smelt that is an alloy of Pig Iron + Something. This extra material would also be quite interesting to find on Boarth traders.
TwinCrows  [author] Oct 5, 2024 @ 12:11pm
I uploaded a new version, anyone want to give it a go and see if they see the same graphical glitch?

I can't re-create the problem you guys are reporting, even on 50.14 testing. The graphics seem fine on my side, is there something I'm missing? Or maybe a file was missing from the previous upload.
TwinCrows  [author] Oct 5, 2024 @ 12:03pm
Thanks guys. I have some time to take a look today and get the Boarth back up. Should get a patch for you soon.
ArchTerran Oct 4, 2024 @ 7:08pm
Can confirm, they are floating heads.
Fantastic Fwoosh Oct 4, 2024 @ 10:44am
Seemingly broken for 50.14 due to the change from layering to palletes, maybe ask on the kitfox forum or unofficial DF discord for some help converting Boarth to the vanilla one.

Also just a suggestion, maybe a alloy of gold and pig iron for gilting? So soldiers can march out with good and valuable gear before you steal some steel, bit like bismuth bronze.
Jester Oct 3, 2024 @ 11:35am
Hey man, everyone spawns without a body now :( just heads running around lol
Nut Sep 22, 2024 @ 3:13am
Actually, I still had it, then I realized that I was still loading the "old version" of the mod, due to the way DF handles mods. Had to go down the list and pick the latest version, hope that helps!

Also, sorry to be a bother, but I encountered a new bug: the sprite for the Boarth is just their heads, going around and doing things.
TwinCrows  [author] Sep 21, 2024 @ 2:23pm
Hmm, I'm unsure. I don't think it could be the Myce. Is it blocking world gen? I don't see the same on my side. If you could narrow in on it that would help tremendously.
eqN Sep 21, 2024 @ 9:54am
Still getting the error that Nut mentions. Is it possibly still an issue, or could it be the Myce mod doing it as well?
Nut Sep 20, 2024 @ 11:41am
Yep, works good.
TwinCrows  [author] Sep 20, 2024 @ 10:39am
I just put a patch through that should prevent that error.
Nut Sep 17, 2024 @ 2:10pm
Had a bug when creating a new world using this mod, says it couldn't find the graphic "human_body_special.jpg"
TwinCrows  [author] Sep 15, 2024 @ 8:37pm
I've updated the Portrait graphics, and overhauled the regular tile graphics as well for the Boarth.

This fixes the graphical glitch that was happening, and gives them quite nice graphics. I updated all the photos above so you can see the current graphics.

I also touched up their entity file, giving them some similarities to the Myce I also made recently.

Enjoy, and do share your stories of Boarth here!
2chuu4u Sep 10, 2024 @ 7:18pm
I chuckled with them being able to get as far as Pig Iron.
Awesome to see these civs coming out from you!

In a practical sense, as far as I know Pig Iron isn't supposed to be much better than actual Iron. Unsure if it's worth it to make it... But it is fitting that they can.

Probably still useful for being a more valuable metal!
TwinCrows  [author] Sep 8, 2024 @ 1:54am
Pig iron is something I've decided to reconsider. They can now smith pig iron. Because, of course, why else would it be called 'pig iron' if the Boarth could not craft it?
Wrought Apr 5, 2024 @ 6:59pm
Came here to ask if boarth not being able to make pig iron or steel was intentional, but I assume it is! "It is an unfortunate fact that the Boarth are stuck in the 'dark ages'."
Lovely attention to detail!
Gavitron Aug 26, 2023 @ 4:33am
Played for a couple hours, as soon as the first trader showed up it crashed. When I reloaded the last autosave, everyone had been turned into elves.
Mango's Life with Microcephaly Jun 18, 2023 @ 1:42pm
Can you make a non-playable version?
Generic Hyena #2 Apr 4, 2023 @ 4:27pm
ha ha boartress
Blumpo Gripliskin Mar 31, 2023 @ 5:52pm
dude ive always named my mountainhome something related to boars and pigs
seeing this in the recommended mods was like walking into a metal bar
TwinCrows  [author] Mar 26, 2023 @ 12:05am
I'm glad you see the resemblance!

Also, I am just about to update to improve the ethics to match the current version. They should be aligned with Humans, Dwarves, and Elves, albeit being much more 'chaotic' than any of those.
Digganob Mar 25, 2023 @ 4:55pm
Really cool, I was hoping for a wild boar type civilization. They remind me of classic D&D orcs.
TwinCrows  [author] Mar 25, 2023 @ 2:37pm
That makes sense now, I see where I can put the description within the 'info.txt' file. Should be up shortly!
20firebird Mar 25, 2023 @ 1:56pm
Yeaah, for some reason Steam totally overwrites your description each time you upload an updated version of a mod. I keep a "description" file in all my mod folders that I can copy-paste into Steam after an update, lol.
TwinCrows  [author] Mar 25, 2023 @ 1:51pm
Oh, odd! I made a really cool write-up but it seems to have gotten deleted. That's a bummer, I didn't save a copy. I'll make a new one.
eqN Mar 25, 2023 @ 5:23am
Looks great! Any specific racial qualities you could list in the description?
TwinCrows  [author] Mar 24, 2023 @ 9:10pm
Please comment here if you run into any issues. The files are coming forward from a pre-Steam release which worked perfectly fine, so I don't expect any trouble. I've tested a game for several hours so far and it seems good!
