Age of Civilizations - Boarth

Adds the Boarth playable race from the 'Age of Civilizations' series.

Dwarven Geographer, Sigun Torchhandle, has this to say:

"The Boarth! A stout, hoggish, and boastful people. At first their primary traits appear to be rudeness and simple-mindedness, but don't be fooled, as the Boarth also possess honest hearts and an enviable earthliness.

Their alehouses are second-best to a true Dwarven mead hall, and even the most debaucherous Dwarf can learn several lessons in proper quaffing, brawling, and the chutzpah of Boarth poetry and song.

The fortitude of such alehouses is due to the humility of their nobles, as even the highest gentry prefer to feast in the common alehouse nightly. So watch your elbows, as you drink among them. At times these nobles can prove haughty and demanding, but are easily entertained with foreign limericks.

It is an unfortunate fact that the Boarth are stuck in the 'dark ages'. I theorize this comes from their short lifespans, which are shorter than humans, with not many living to their elder years. Those who do, swiftly grow to a prodigious bulk, rivalling the immensity of the largest wild boars.

Resulting from their brief lifespans, little knowledge is passed from one generation to the next, and there is less enthusiasm for learning and the mastery of skills. Instead, most Boarth prefer to spend what little time they have drinking, fighting, and enjoying the easy company of their kin.

It is a rare swine indeed who arises from the muck to become a scholar, and the existence of the educated among them is curious indeed. It proves the Boarth are capable of expertise, only that most do not have the focus or memory necessary.

Regarding engineering, they are more sophisticated than the savage Elves, but nearly all projects are devoted to convenience, such that they can free up more time for leisure. In my time, I witnessed a powered mine cart track which delivered beer directly into the gullet of a central alehouse.

Perhaps there is much we can learn from this naturalness and contentedness in our own busy, industrious lives.

Whenever fortune bids me pass through Boarth lands, I am sure to revel in the occasion. For there I shall fill up on their generous drink and ribald melodies, and be reminded that there is yet always a simpler path."
