Yeah, the normal one has a small circle and the improved one has a HUGE circle for me.

I am getting back into this game and been looking through mods properties/code.

However, I noticed a weird thing. For some reason, the vanilla lightning rod in my game covers a 50m area.

Has it been recently changed so the vanilla lightning rod covers 50m area or is it just in my game?

Well, i can now confirm that it still works with the DLC

I don't own the DLC, but I can confirm that the mod works perfectly fine with the latest game update. I don't think having the DLC would make any difference.

I bought the DLC and plan on getting back to the game soon. Right now I can't, though, so if anybody can confirm, please do. Also, I completely forgot everything about modding Stranded Alien Dawn so it may take some time before I can update this.

Considering it costs 5x more resources 6x bigger area seems more reasonable to me, otherwise it would be more cost efficient to use the non-modded version and not bother with this mod. In fact it was your 6x comment that convinced me to try it. Thanks @tiamats4esgares and @Naked Troll

Erm, that's not 2.5x more. It's a lot more.

The area of a circle is πr^2.

The area of a circle with radius 20m is 400π m.

The area of a circle with radius 50m is 2500π m.

It's over 6 times bigger.

I mean more like 'shelves' it lets colonists walk by it.

How about the opposite, a more smaller efficient lightning rod that can be attached to sides of a grid tile instead of the full tile?
0.60x range, but takes much nearly 75% less space.

still dont display the picture right but it works great thank you for the mod it keeps from littering my camps with a crazy amount of lightning rods

@Naked Troll Thanks for the reply. I started getting crashes again so I think there is actually something else going on with my save game.

@jchavez52691 thank you for the feedback. I haven't got any crashes but I will certainly look out if it happens.

Are you getting any reports of crashes being caused by your mod? I had this mod subscribed and in game it sounded like a lightningstorm was about to start and my game would consistently crash at the same time. I removed this mod and the game stopped crashing after that.

I feel like 5x is just too high. Maybe like 3.5x or 4x, costs a little bit more while not being prohibitive?

@Brigand231 It adds another detector's radius. For now it is close to impossible to replace existing buildings by using the basic modding tool provided by the devs.

First I wanted to make the area 5x bigger and the cost also 5x. For some reason, the biggest area covered by the lightning rod allowed is 2.5x.

Still, I left the cost to be 5x because if it would be 2.5x, then the normal lightning mod would become obsolete - everyone would build the Improved lightning rod instead.

So now you have to choose:

- Would you rather spend 5x resources and cover a bigger area?
- Would you rather build more smaller lightning rods that can make your base look ugly or even block you to build a nice room, in order to save an amount of resources?

Also, let's not forget that we're talking about scrap metal - a completely affordable resource.

In my opinion, the cost is balanced. if you guys think otherwise, I can change the cost to whatever.

2.5x bigger area byt 5x the cost? How is this beneficial, I'll just throw down more lighting rods and save the resources. 5x is just too high.
