Lately I've been lucky with "Early Access" games, and this is no exception. For me it's a nice slow paced game that gives you time to breathe, and collect your thoughts as to where, when, and how you want to do things, and you can pretty much play forever. Lots of maps too. I tend to write down the "Seed #" in case I want that map again, and put to what I've learned to better use.

The graphics are beautiful, and I don't find the UI difficult to navigate or understand, but I guess I'm use to it having so many hours in City Building games/simulators since the early 90's. The music score is nice, but limited at the moment, so when I'm tire of it, I tend to turn it off, and play something else in the background, or just listen to the environmental sounds the game has to offer.

Two things that disappoint me in today's new City Builder games, and they are... They don't let you zoom-in, and tilt the camera enough to get that special inside the game immersion, and quality for us picture takers that like to show off a game! The Kings for this feature, still remains with Banished, Cities: Skylines, LiF: Forest Villager, SimCity & Surviving Mars. I realize the game is EA, and I'm hopeful they change that aspect of it.

Speaking of picture taking, the game does offer a "Hide UI" mode (F11 key), so you can get some nice shots of the game in general, but unfortunately most people don't use it, and post what would be gorgeous shots that got spoiled with the UI splattered all over the place making the picture unappealing to me. Just look at the game screenshots if you don't believe me.

The tutorial doesn't hold your hand, and explain everything, but I really don't think you need it with the kind of UI assistance you currently get. Beside, I like exploring, discovering, and learning things on my own anyway. Due to this being a City Builder SURVIVAL game, you're going to have to use your noodle. Think, and plan ahead is the name of the game. Also, putting your mouse over most UI components will explain what it does, what it's for, and what it needs.

I can't write much more, as I'm less than ten hours into the game, but what I've seen so far, I like for the most part, and hope to see this progress into the game I think it can be. It's EA, and obviously needs more work, but the Dev's are active, responsive, and updates seem to come along regularly.

So in closing, I'd say give it a try for less than 2 hours. If you don't like it, refund it, and buy yet another "Hack, Shoot & Slash" game!
