I typically use them in prisons and it's a weakpoint that lets everyone out if destroyed. If I place it inside of the prison itself it takes up too much space and defeats the purpose of being able to act as a wall.
There's a litte problem with the Nutrient Paste Dripper and it makes it useless most of the time.
The dripper feeds the patient when the food bar reaches 25% as it should but the wardens always try to feed the patients when the bar is around 30%. Becouse of this most of the time the Dripper isn't reaching the point where it actually feeds the patients becouse they already receved food by the wardens, which makes the Dripper useless when it happens.
It is very noticeble when you have many prisoners. I have 7 prisoners with no legs (So they are always in bed) and 4 wardens. It usually happens that only 3 are actually eating from the Drippers becouse 4 of them already receved food from the Wardens when their bar was higher. By the time it took the wardens to feed those 4, the other 3 already reached the 25% and they receved food from the Dripper.
Also hidden paste pipes would be good as a mod option too. So that I can keep my colony clean looking :)
If the contents of the vat and the feeder are made from different ingredients, it will attempt to extrude another, and will place it next to the feeder because they can't stack.
Because it still doesn't have it's target number, it will attempt to dispense another and another, until the vat and feeder hold the same thing.
This can be avoided by setting the value of all feeders to 1
As long as tap is connected to paste network, it works though
Supposedly it gives colonists paste, just like the feeders that I do understand, but without risk of animals taking it.
My confusion comes in with how it can need hoppers. I though hoppers were supposed to go onto the grinder, then the grinder is hooked up to a vat and whatever else you need, but the game yells at me saying that the tap needs hoppers, and the tap has the option to add hoppers built into it.
may not see a bug fix for a bit even if its properly reported till one of the other ve coders can get around to it
As a workaround, make paste with only a single ingredient, or use a simple xml patch to remove ingredients entirely.
Except the part where my doctors try to manually feed them anyway the idiots.
Maybe change their allowed foods?
You can add a bit of other ingredients to vat (2 or maybe more- not sure how much ingredients meals count exactly)
mostly it doesn't matter, but there are some special ingredients from mods that add special effects- like some honeys from Alpha Bees that give mood and health benefits.
So drop one meal worth of ingredient into the vat and as long as vat doesn't run out each new paste meal will recieve added benefits from ingredient. Genetic, Black, Performance and Psychotropic Honeys come to mind. Maybe Tasty too, but I'm not exactly sure)
(sadly condiments do not work- even ones that have nutrition, probably extra blacklisted))
