The thing is, I'm hoping to do a very large content expansion of graphics, specifically for armor, but also for clothing, weapons, and hopefully with the new graphics tokens, expanded creature graphics for the smaller sprites. I'm going to be very busy this spring, so my progress will be fairly limited. So I will likely release the mod in beta around early May, with the essential graphics file changes, bug fixes, and only a few of the actual content additions I've made.
The main time sink is content, which is multiplied by the addition of portraits and the new graphics systems. I'll to make big changes to the graphics files, especially to accommodate my content additions.
But, that is all still a long ways off. Take this all with a grain of salt.

You can do whatever you want with this, you just need to attribute Jacko. Give him credit in your mod description.
Translation: Bigger titties.
I'd like to know if it should be possible to have random weapon graphics be chosen for a creature. I'm making a bunch of a cave-dwelling gobbos, and as such, randomly chosen weapon graphics would be in order to add a bit of flavor to them.
Until Jacko releases an official fix or the devs fix it with a patch the only solution is to remove the broken tag from every creature graphics file in the mod. I don't know why Jacko used that tag which means removing it might cause unforeseen issues, but at least clothes will be displayed.
