Fast growth rate IS SO bad. Easily the worst gene. Even if it gave +10 (right now it costs -1) I would still never take it.

15% learning speed? This is applied AFTER passions, mind you. So a pawn with burning (double) passion ends up at 22% learning speed instead 150%. That's insanely bad.

And that's not even the worst part. Since the pawns grow up so fast, none of them earn enough growth points to get a passion or positive trait (even if you educate them).

So you just end up with an adult pawn that has 0 in all skills, negative traits, and a learning speed of 5.2% across the board (instead of the default 35% passionless). Literally any captured pawn would be better.

The ONLY use I can think of for this trait is if you're farming pawns for human leather.

@Darkborderman you clearly did not think this one through at all.

@Darkborderman hello, please can you add genders as well? the Alpha Genes has it but the mod is too bloated and this is much better.
Kaedys Dec 11, 2024 @ 7:27pm
Ya, that's an odd one. The very fast growth rate gene has a 25% learning rate multiplier , and the fast one has a 15%. Were those intended to be offsets ? It doesn't seem to make much sense to me for a gene that reduces the time a child can spend learning to also massively nerf their learning rate as well, and it makes even less sense to me for the one that improves growth rate *more* to have a *smaller* penalty (-75%, versus -85% for the merely "fast" one).
Mjahaha Dec 10, 2024 @ 2:57pm
The mod is great, but there is a weird bug/feature? Anyone with the fast aging genes also has a x25% learning speed which really devastates a play-through. They seem like they are two genes mashed into one.
Anyway, besides from a couple of forced restarts from that, enjoying it.

I have created a new Chinese localization patch for it.

Hello, my friend. When I browse the gene list, I find that the Chinese translation seems to be out of date. Many genes have not been translated yet. Do you need me to help translate them?
Darkborderman  [author] Jul 3, 2024 @ 12:55pm
@Kaedys thanks! I thought hiding them from UI is enough but not considering they'll still appear ingame.
Kaedys Jul 3, 2024 @ 11:45am
Looking at it, the gene display category and the forced traits are conditioned, but the genes themselves are not, they show up regardless of whether Anomaly is active. Recommend moving the `MayRequire="Ludeon.RimWorld.Anomaly"` condition from the forcedTraits elements to the `GeneDef` tag for each gene. That will make the entire gene show up only if Anomaly is active.
Darkborderman  [author] Jul 3, 2024 @ 10:51am
@jessiuss I may need to take a deeper look. I remember I added required dependencies to make sure they show up only when DLC exists.

Does the genes related to dlc are showed by which way? Via gene capsule/race edit screen or other way?
jessiuss Jul 2, 2024 @ 5:17pm
is there a possibility that you can add a toggle or auto hide genes related to dlcs that we dont own? i didnt know body mastery was an anomaly thing so i gave it to one of my colonists and it just made them super hungry and nothing happened. im gonna dev mode edit it back but its annoying that they show up at all. (or maybe put in the gene description its from dlc at least?)
TyranntX Jun 13, 2024 @ 3:21pm
Nudist Gene when? :steamhappy:
Codi May 25, 2024 @ 10:22pm
@Darkborderman Awesome :lunar2019piginablanket:
Darkborderman  [author] May 25, 2024 @ 5:32am
@Codi Thanks for the report, the spelling has been fixed.
kaikitten May 12, 2024 @ 9:09pm
would love a communal gene!
Darkborderman  [author] May 5, 2024 @ 10:57am
- Reduce FastGrowthRate and VeryFastGrowthRate to -1 and -2 with 15/25% learning rate respectively.
Darkborderman  [author] May 1, 2024 @ 11:44pm
@101 It's intended for some mass population gameplay (lot of workforce) to overwhelm enemy or for butchering . The population is large but at lower quality.

Currently learning can't just applied at childhood and will applied at whole lifetime so I didn't add it. But I'll slightly buff it (maybe 10~20%) for that.

Will update it later, thanks for the advice.
101 May 1, 2024 @ 7:53pm
I've been trying to use the fast aging gene for a goblin-themed playthrough, but the greatly accelerated growth of children doesn't scale their learning. Even with full learning the entire time, I haven't even been able to get a child to growth tier 1. Is this intentional, or should learning be scaling with childrens aging rate?

There's not even any devtool that can increase growth tier that I can see, which makes it even more frustrating.
Sleepless Homunculus Apr 30, 2024 @ 8:46pm
Awesome! Much thanks!
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 30, 2024 @ 12:15pm
- Added Slow/Fast learner traits genes
- Added Walk speed related traits genes
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 30, 2024 @ 12:15pm
@Sleepless Homunculus now added Slow/Fast Learner trait genes, alongside with moving related trait genes.
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 30, 2024 @ 6:34am
- Modify gourmand to -1 due to there're no buff to this trait in 1.5 now, and have a change to cause random mental break

- Fix neutral psychics trait typo
-- If you have neutral psychics gene you may get red text error(only shown once), you can use dev mode to re-added back again

- Add several neutral trait to suppress traits in specific category
- Add all descriptions for English text
- Update other language translation
Sleepless Homunculus Apr 29, 2024 @ 5:47pm
Thank you for your dedication and quick updates!
I was only able to find Too Smart and Great Memory under Misc though, no Fast (not Quick, sorry) Learner.
The only lineup missing now are the movement speed trait genes.
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 29, 2024 @ 6:55am
- Added Mood related trait genes.
- Added Anomaly only traits, category will only visible when you have Anomaly enabled.
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 29, 2024 @ 6:53am
@Sleepless Homunculus
Yes and thanks for the reminding, I've add Saguine and mood-related trait genes.
It's under Mood(More Genes) category
Quick Learner is under Misc(More Gene) category
Sleepless Homunculus Apr 28, 2024 @ 1:09am
Is it possible to re-added traits like Sanguine, Quick Learner, etc. which were removed?
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 24, 2024 @ 5:34am
Some updates:
- Organize Psychics traits to same category
- Add Complexity category, use complexity to trade with metabolism
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 21, 2024 @ 9:04am
@Nirty Can you try unsubscribe and resubscribe the mod? I've update a newer version to fix this issue.
Nirty Apr 21, 2024 @ 8:59am
now the chinese translation is active for this mod even though the game is set to english.
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 21, 2024 @ 6:16am
Added translation (Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified), translation is harder than I thought.

Added beauty related genes.
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 19, 2024 @ 4:31am
@TorMechia Of course! Contribution is welcomed. I used the same icons since I'm not familiar with spriting.

Quick Sleeper and Robust is intended. It's used to prevent randomising for that trait, same as speed and mood related genes.
TorMechia Apr 18, 2024 @ 10:11pm
BTW I think the Quick Sleeper gene is a bit redundant, considering that the Low Sleep gene already exists, same thing goes for the Robust gene :)
TorMechia Apr 18, 2024 @ 10:03pm
Thanks for 1.5!

Would you be open to taking contributions to the mod? I noticed that the genes added reuse existing gene icons—I might be able to create some basic modified ones for you (at some point)
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 13, 2024 @ 11:46pm
Body size multiplier fixed.
Domdom1129 Apr 12, 2024 @ 12:49pm
Thank you so much is did not know that lol
The Gunslinger Apr 12, 2024 @ 10:10am
TY!
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 12, 2024 @ 4:35am
Will add more genes from comments (beauty, some meat/skin farm genes) and some rebalance.

Maybe add localization later.
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 12, 2024 @ 4:31am
@Domdom Ultrakill right click on Rimworld -> properties, in "beta" tab you can rollback your Rimworld version to 1.4.
Darkborderman  [author] Apr 12, 2024 @ 4:30am
Update to 1.5, most of the genes(except body size which depends on Harmony) are working.
The Gunslinger Apr 11, 2024 @ 8:22pm
TY UPDATE!
Domdom1129 Apr 11, 2024 @ 4:52pm
how do you go back to 1.4?
unamed Apr 7, 2024 @ 11:29pm
nice work keep it up!
Kolljak Mar 29, 2024 @ 7:59am
Everything seems to work. only bugs could be from individual genes. cant wait for 1.5
Darkborderman  [author] Mar 29, 2024 @ 5:57am
Thank you! I'll port it to 1.5 when it's out.
Kolljak Mar 29, 2024 @ 5:55am
going to be testing gene mods for 1.5 i will let you know if any errors pop up by sending "bug report" discussion i will start if needed.
Nado Oct 27, 2023 @ 8:46pm
agility/dodge genes ?
nice mod  ty
Iberian Husky Oct 27, 2023 @ 10:30am
I feel like Body Purist should probably give positive metabolism since it's a purely negative trait.
Kaedys Aug 21, 2023 @ 8:47am
The aging one should be quite easy to implement. Genes support a <biologicalAgeTickFactorFromAgeCurve> tag. As long as you set it to 1.0 at age 18 and no other list elements after that, they'll have normal aging for their entire adulthood. You can then set either an actual curve, or something like 0.25 until age 17.9, so their aging is just a flat 4x slower from birth until just before they hit adulthood.
CTH2004 Aug 21, 2023 @ 7:28am
great! Can't wait, but I shall (:

take your time, better for you to take a while for your best work than rush, and not send out something nowhere near that!
Darkborderman  [author] Aug 21, 2023 @ 4:42am
Sorry for the late response, I'm working on Project Zomboid, and Starsector mod recently. I'm sure I'll add more genes when I pick up Rimworld again.

Really thanks for everyone that likes my mod!
Darkborderman  [author] Aug 21, 2023 @ 4:39am
@KingJacky777, @CTH2004 I think these are possible, and can be added near future.

@Zorg That's a great idea, it may need some code to check whether the colonist is adult or not (vanilla aging are applied throughout their lives).
