@Torkkar I believe the main point of the mod is to allow randomly generated pawns to spawn with a larger number of traits, and the ability to display the traits was a smaller portion of the mod. AFAIK vanilla number traits a pawn will randomly spawn with is still 1-3, which this mod would allow you to increase.

this mods no longer needed in 1.5 I made a pawn with 15 traits & its all good everything's listed clearly so it may have been integrated.

I'm done with my trait slots mod, inspired by this and it's earlier versions. The big difference is I made it compatible with Biotech and the baby stuff. If anyone is interested, it's over here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3217782973

@Taranchuk: I'm working on an updated version of this, sort of. But I'm looking to include settings for controlling traits in relation to babies as well as children during growth moments.

Might be of interest to others as well, I'll link it here when I'm done.

WARNING this mod is currently corrupted in mutiplayer the auto download section if u subscribe to it and try to make friend play it it will auto download the OLD version of this mod every time it also auto downloads wrong in rimpy giving you the wrong version of it

TRANACHUK if u see this please! just change the name of the mod a bit it has the same one as the old one so steam is being dumb and autoupdating it to the old version ;c

For anyone still looking for a way to have this working with children I suggest looking at the mod Tweaks Galore (all the way to the bottom). Don't know what they're doing differently, but it works. Children are born without any traits.

Nobody's mentioned it, but this mod works fine with biotech if you're willing to use character editor (you should probably already have it tbh). Once the baby is born or the child appears on the map. just remove the extra traits with character editor. Normal child growth will give traits as normal. I've done this in a few games and haven't noticed any issues.

Any plans to make this more compatible with Biotech? a simple temp fix could be to simply disable it for children and have it only function on generated NPCs..

To make it work more with Biotech as others have stated.. having the extra traits kick in at a different age may work.. but another solution would be to instead integrate this into Biotech.. Make it so that at each age up, you get to pick extra traits based on growth tier (Picking 2 or 3 up from 1) on paper it sounds pretty simple.. Would also be nice to be able to weed out bad traits or re-roll them a bit when picking them for the kids. (I've had to pick between Greedy, Jealous, Volatile, Staggering Ugly, and Body Purist... Which all can have niche uses.. but.. yeah)

I would also like it if certain traits could be made to not count against the limit.. Like player forced traits (The ones you can apply by scenario) and the gene traits would also be neat to not count.. and be added on after the others.

Used to be an essential mod to me in 1.3 and below.
I'd suggest to use genes instead of traits with 1.4 Biotech.
As others have stated, this could cause issues with child growth otherwise.

Yeah... In case anyone is confused why their babies are suddenly cannibals or whatever, it seems to be this mod. If you have Biotech and don't want this to happen, you're probably best to unsubscribe from this. :(

As other said, the number of traits should depend on the pawn age. Having children with 4 or 5 traits is an issue when these traits should be earned through education.

Thanks for the mod! I have a question: a child in my colony was born with 6 traits - this is the max number of traits that is set in this mod's options. Is this a bug, or is it a possible thing, or must I look out for some other mod that has caused this weirdness? Thanks again)

could you add an option, so traits' slots could unlock in relation with age? like, up to 25 it would be 2 slots, 25-33 - 3 slots, customizable. With this option age could matter a lot more: older pawns could be more quirky or more experienced depending on how long they have lived. Seems like a no brainer.

it does make traits given by growth obsolette but then again from what iv noticed it only gives Traits to kids so you will want to work on growth system to gain passions for them, but yea would be nice if it was fixed / made a on off toggle

If you use biotech, do not install this mod. It adds traits to children before they are 7 and breaks your game. If you have such a child....bad news. You are going to have to install peg legs,then remove them and leave them unable to move until 13, start a new colony, kill the child or banish them

I wish you could chose how many traits the children was born, without changing adult pawns traits (that i like keep on 2~3). I would probably chose to start with 1.

i dont mind kids having afew extra traits but seems quite often they are born with max or near max of what i have set, if it at least stuck to the min for newborns it wouldnt be so bad, guess il have to remove and wait till fix or do workarounds with character editor

Honestly, the result of the bug makes sense for me. Pretty realistic a kid is born with some personality traits and will develop according to the way they're raised etc.

So, some 'forced' traits and then some vanilla choosing seems like a winner to me.

Taranchuk: I'm gonna go ahead and wish for the fix to be optional! Sort of (1) as is now (with said bug active) or (2) without any birth traits, according to the wishes of fellow commenters.

I want to try this mod but looking at the comment section, it seems there is a bug. I'm gonna keep an eye on this mod, it looks good. I just want to make sure nothings busted.

Yeah, just had another child born with the max number of traits. Definitely something funky here, but not an easy fix since the max/min amount of extra traits is configurable. The best way would probably just be to distribute the extra slots across the different growth moments

I could be wrong though, I had a only vanilla save for about a day and the only child I had was traitless, but that may have been RNG.

My children are being born with traits after downloading this mod, but only equal to the number of "extra" traits they would have gotten.
I'm pretty sure children are supposed to have no traits, so even though I can fix this with Character Editor on my end, I just figured I should let you know.

KV has officially stopped modding for rimworld he said. So won't update any of his originals to 1.4.
