Step 3 180° (up until this point its pretty basic and managable)

Step 4 240° Open state (Here you need to add pistons to heightens the rotating solar panels so they align flush with the exterior shell, and you need to have rotors instead of hinges)

Also theres the whole part of the 4 corner pieces that extend after the construction lifts up from the ground which would be a mess of its own xD
Great game, i also loved Core.
@Tiredraptor:
This build actually started from me trying to build the core solar collector. but i ran into massive issues with creating the hinge system.
Theres just no way to build the hinge type needed for large grid for the needed 240° in vanilla...
As it doesn't allow for the rotation needed combined with the height offsets to make it flush. (without inducing massive clang by adding rotors stacked on Pistons to create temporary offsets during the rotational phase.)
I guess,if i start mesing about with small grid solar panels and small grid blocks i could do it, but again, it would make it less viable as a playable build and more just a proof of concept.
So in the end i just couldnt find a way to make the core solar collector a playable build with vanilla solutions. and the Arm Solar collector was born from that failure
