Water Goes Bad

yeah we lost the tainted indicator because they moved the whole UI into java and i can't trick it anymore, it can probably be faked but my focus is elsewhere right now
Elfreida Sep 19 @ 6:43pm
Sooo...I messed about in debug and flipped the game to instant water shut off. Now it works perfectly (although there is no 'tainited' indicator on world fixtures). So...issue with the trigger maybe?
Elfreida Sep 11 @ 8:08pm
Unfortunately, doesn't seem to work for me as of Sept :( Great mod, otherwise (used it before build 42)
tt_mcswag Aug 25 @ 3:30am
Incompatible with the Water Pipe and sprinklers aka plumbing mod. Plumbed houses will be tainted even when plumbed from a well.

Also, if you're using Lifestyles mod, make sure minimum water remaining stays above 5 or something or all toilets will become unusable, unless you can legit plumb them with a rain collector barrel.
albion  [author] Aug 20 @ 8:30am
there's been a few reports like this, seems like it's still working for some people but i'll look into it soon
Švedski Šved iz Švedske Aug 20 @ 1:16am
I've attempted to play with this mod recently, and it seems as though it does not function.

I changed min days water goes bad to 1, and max to 3, for testing purposes, I then waited 2 weeks for the water to shutoff and it didn't go bad after the aformentioned 1 - 3 days.

Can someone confirm, or am I doing something wrong? B42 unstable, latest patch as of writing.

Also, thank you so much @albion for your work. This mod is really good and a must-have for my playthroughs, I've always played with it. Thank you, thank you so much for creating and maintaining it.

Cheers.
albion  [author] Aug 19 @ 7:19pm
water doesn't really go bad on its own so probably not, but you can justify it with all the literal corpses walking around
justinianocespedesismael Aug 19 @ 7:02pm
Is this mod actually realistic?. Would this happen in real life ?
󠀡󠀡󠁳󠀡󠀡 Aug 17 @ 12:54pm
@Johnny Dollar you went 20 ingame days in a single real life day?
Johnny Dollar Aug 4 @ 3:37pm
@albion
@Migs

Currently on day 70 without disabling the mod.
Water from sinks have started to drain, is tainted and the mod is working as intended.
Double checked sandbox settings, and sure enough, minimum was 1 day after shut-off and maximum was 2 days after shut off.

Didn't change any settings or do anything differently, but it works now for unknown reasons.
Thank you for the mod albion.
Makes the fight for water worth it, instead of emptying a gas station's year old sink for 20 liters of fresh spring water.
Migs Aug 4 @ 8:38am
Don't worry about it my man, if I were you I'd just wait for them to update the game again before trying to patch it, otherwise you'd be just be doing constantly doing patches like that and that's probably tiring.
albion  [author] Aug 4 @ 8:35am
the tainted icon isn't showing up currently because B42 has changed how that UI (and sinks in general) works every other patch, and i haven't really worked out how to do that this time: i do intend to fix that eventually but i've been a little busier lately

water not becoming tainted or draining on the first day is a bug that happened previously, it probably re-emerged with the massive rewrites i've had to do between patches, i'll look into that for the next update
Migs Aug 4 @ 8:29am
@Johnny Dollar

Just to be clear, on the first day I spawned into the world, it wasn't working and the sinks were still full, it only started draining after the first day regardless of my settings. Also another detail is that when you right-click a water container, it won't alert you that the water is tainted. Only when you transfer that water to a container in your inventory will it tell you that it's tainted.

I don't know if that's an issue with the mod or it's because of the way B42 handles fluids that doesn't show you it's tainted, but regardless, my settings are as follows:

- Minimum Days Until Water Goes Bad: 0
- Maximum Days Until Water Goes Bad: 0
- Plumbed Sinks Need Filter: On
- Drain Over Time: On
- Water Drain Rate: 1
- Minimum Remaining Water: 1 (Set this to 0 if you want sinks to have absolutely no water, but you'll have to rely on rivers and rainwater to survive)
Johnny Dollar Aug 3 @ 7:43am
Currently 50 days into a 12 months later run, and even though this mod was enabled from the very start, it has absolutely no effect.
No draining, no tainted water, nothing.
Filters still appear in the crafting menu, though.
Johnny Dollar Aug 2 @ 12:14pm
@Migs
How did you get yours to work?
I'm also running 12 months after, and all sinks are clean and not draining.
Even tried setting the tainted water setting to 1 day after shut off and maximum to 2 days.
Migs Jul 29 @ 7:07am
Actually scratch that, it's working but only past the first day you spawn into the game, then the water drains according to the config you set (mine was set for "0 days").

Maybe if we're able to set it to "-1 days until the water drains", it could solve it.
Migs Jul 27 @ 5:33am
Hello! Thank you for making this mod, it adds much needed immersion.

I'm just having a small issue on B42: The water doesn't seems to drain even when I start the game after 12 months into the apocalypse on the sandbox settings. I also added 20 water drain rate and set the water shutoff to be instant, but to no avail.

The water is tainted, but there's still 20 liters in every sink I find.
Javaugh Jul 13 @ 1:56pm
Getting water from sinks is cheating, period. Thanks for the mod
albion  [author] Jun 22 @ 7:59am
yeah, in 41 i had a system to make it more deadly, will probably have to bring that back
Nyx2330 Jun 22 @ 7:51am
Well that's a bummer. I mean dying instantly by tainted water was weird but
this is a bit too much...there's no point in purifying the water :steamsad:
albion  [author] Jun 22 @ 7:29am
low amounts of poisoning probably just means they nerfed poisoning from tainted water again, the devs seem to change their mind if tainted water should do literally nothing or instantly kill you every couple months
Nyx2330 Jun 22 @ 7:22am
Can you check the mod once more? I ran into an issue where the tainted status only
shows up when water has been poured inside a bottle and the character does not
get sick when you drink tainted water not just bottles but rivers as well.
The sickness mood only shows up for a brief second and disappears.
albion  [author] Jun 21 @ 9:56pm
should be fixed now! if you're still having issues, make sure the mod version is 42-2.0.3 in the mod selection menu
albion  [author] Jun 21 @ 8:57pm
thanks for the reports, i'm investigating a solution
Nyx2330 Jun 21 @ 8:27pm
Looks like the updates broke the mod again. I've tested with this mod only
and made sure the waters are set to taint immediately but it doesn't apply.
Could you check this out please?
Mugen Jun 15 @ 6:31pm
seems to not work anymore :deadrat::spiffo:
MrGushy Jun 11 @ 7:39pm
does not work
If you need tained water at the start (example:12 months later).Go to sandbox options --> world settings --> Water Shutoff --> select "instant". Now go to the mod settings on sandbox -> change min/max days until water goes bad to the 0.
W3VO May 18 @ 4:33pm
Hola, esta roto el mod? lo configuro para que se drene toda el agua de los lavados pero aparecen con toda el agua. Gracias
p6kocka May 4 @ 11:42pm
After I set the starting day to 12 months after the outbreak in the sandbox settings the water should be spoiled right from the beginning, shoudn´t it? Because it´s not the case.
nonbinary scout gaming Apr 27 @ 6:11am
this should be a vanilla game feature tbh
nonbinary scout gaming Apr 27 @ 6:11am
still water mango phonk those who know...
lilsticky24 Apr 20 @ 10:23am
stale water
albion  [author] Mar 28 @ 2:15am
to my knowledge it's working fine in 42.6.0, i wouldn't expect every update to break it, we just got unlucky the last few
Švedski Šved iz Švedske Mar 27 @ 6:42pm
Is the mod working in the current version of the game - and is it expected that every update will keep breaking the mod?

Great mod.
O_0..b Mar 25 @ 9:34am
Update: changed settings from default to 0 days, so water spoils immediately - result is the same, water is just like in vanilla: full sinks and all clean.
O_0..b Mar 25 @ 7:54am
Wasn't the case for me. Just used this mod for the first time. Starting 12 months in, water was shut off at least half a year ago. Filled a pan from a sink and it's clean water.
albion  [author] Mar 23 @ 11:47pm
of course! the expiry date will be calculated based on when the water originally went off, so it may immediately become tainted if you are far into your save
Calamity Mar 23 @ 1:31pm
is it possible to add this to a preexisting save file or no?
TikaTops Mar 20 @ 9:51am
Is it normal for bathtubs to run out of water days after a water outage? The sinks and toilets still have water.
Aiper Mar 13 @ 4:19pm
Okay, I see. Thanks for the quick response! I really hope this has nothing to do with your mod, because I quite like the realism it adds!
I am using Week One, which is super complex, so I am assuming it sadly would be a pretty good candidate for whatever borked my game (not just one save).
albion  [author] Mar 13 @ 4:01pm
never heard of anything like that, sorry - it is technically possible that this mod might bug out and taint water without telling you (due to vanilla changes i have to sync these things manually now and i could have made a mistake in that) but if you're not even drinking anything and it still happens it can't be this mod doing it, this mod's code has no way to randomly poison you even if it bugs out
Aiper Mar 13 @ 3:41pm
I am not sure this is your mod causing this... but in these last few days I can't seem to play PZ without randomly getting fevers and dying in minutes (why the fuck does fever kill in minutes anyway???), and I am struggling to figure out what could be making that happen...

I have a good few mods, so that could be where the reason is to be found.
Among my mods, this mod seems like it may be a culprit since it specifically makes water from taps dangerous.
However I just ran around in the forest, not drinking or eating anything and still got sick and a fever... Has anyone asked you about this before? Do you have any idea what this could be?
albion  [author] Mar 4 @ 1:23pm
42-2.0.2
- Fixed literally everything being broken in 42.4.0.

please make sure the mod version (you can see this in the mod manager) is 42-2.0.2 before reporting any errors, as they are probably fixed!
albion  [author] Mar 4 @ 10:10am
unsurprisingly 42.4.0 broke it again, this one may take some time to fix
Tevin Feb 20 @ 3:31pm
Is there a way to have no water in the taps at start?
albion  [author] Feb 20 @ 12:27pm
42-2.0.1
- Fixed water incorrectly defaulting to untainted after 42-2.0.0.
albion  [author] Feb 20 @ 12:23pm
ooops yeah patch in a couple minutes 😅
albion  [author] Feb 20 @ 11:27am
i'll look into it, these are the conditions i test with so it's strange that it's not working for you
Nyx2330 Feb 20 @ 1:10am
After the update all the tainted water in the sink turned into normal for some reason.

Also I ran into a issue where the water doesn't go bad immediately.

The water shutoff sandbox are set to Instant, -1 and the minimum/maximum days
until water goes bad is 0.

I've tried un/resubcribing and tested a few times with this mod only but it didn't work
could you check this out please?
